and grab a decent wheel first.

Fixed for ya :).

I'm surprised there's people willing to blow the money on the Suck... er, Signature Edition, that don't have a wheel. It seems kind of strange someone could be that much of a GT fan and yet don't play it the best possible way. I play with the DS3 for now because I just don't have the room, or the time really, to set up the DFP these days. But it's not even close to feeling the same.

Funny that a lot of people apparantly think you can only be a "serious fan" if you're going for the more expensive options like spending more equals more credibilty.
Before you begin lumping people together, note that my hobby comment was based on amount of time spent playing and my desire to not be disturbed during that.

Standard version will more than suffice for me ( and I love GT since the first one ) but I won't be persuaded to spend that much on "geek bling bling".
Honestly, if my choices were the same as Europe's I would just be getting the standard version.

Maybe reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, but talking about video games being a hobby or not, has what to do with the collectors edition?

Firstly, no it isn't my strong point, I have a Mathematical/Logical mind and anything language or communication related is my weak point :)

Secondly, why so hostile? Your contribution to this thread was just as valuable as my reply...

It's quite the opposite for me. I'm going to go for the standard edition I think, but I would go for the CE if I had the same options as you guys in the US. That Stealth GTR simply looks awesome :D

It wasn't aimed at you as I feel the same way about it and can get quite obsessed about it once I start playing.
It was mainly targeting those who somehow claim that you can only be a "true fan", etc. if you get the Signature Edition.
I will be too busy playing my cheapskate mass-produced copy ( or bargain as I like to see it ) to even notice any paraphernalia attached.;)

Actually, so far I've only seen one post about that very subject and the person clearly stated that only the hardcore racers like himself and most here, will go for the STANDARD copy and not the others.
I myself can't help but chuckle at those paying for the SigEdition.

I am contemplating making an unboxing video that night and putting it on You Tube. But there is the chance it will look more like the Nintendo 64 kid video and never see the light of day.

So going for the Standard version somehow means GT5 won't mean as much to me than shelling out an incredible amount of money on extra paraphernalia which doesn't add anything to the gameplay?
The game itself is exactly the same whatever version you choose ( save from a few extra "special cars" which don't get me excited frankly and will probably be later available to all through DLC ) which can't be said of your RC car example as they're basically completely different in quality and purpose.

i didnt mean to imply that at all, it was perhaps a bad analogy and a poorly phrased post. i type faster than i think ya see

As long as it isn't one of the vids where the kid opens the box to find a phone book, clothes or my personal favourite.. an IOU

and grab a decent wheel too.
And if you have buckets of money, buy yourself a Playseat Evolution and combine it with the wheel.
I already have a G25, so I'm just getting the Collector's Edition.
I don't have the money for a Playseat Evo, so I just might make my own.

I see, fair enough if you didn't imply it that way, although typing fast doesn't necessarily mean you aren't able to read and think about what you wrote after typing it and before you post it now does it?;)

Heads would roll at GameStop. And I might just video tape that.

My thoughts exactly! I have pre-ordered Collector's Edition from Gamestop Canada for $99.99; especially looking forward to the 300 (go fast) book!

I've pre-orders the ce from amazon UK. Only after the book if truth be known.

Know what I'll miss though. I'm one of those sad peeps who love the inevitable midnight launch that Game Uk will probably do.

I'm hopeful that Amazon might trump it a day early.

I pre-ordered the Collector's Edition. Compared to the SE I think it is a very good value. For extra $40 you get the book, car, keychain, and a few special in game cars. I bet the model car would almost cover that cost if sold. I am really hoping the game has advanced car tuning settings and that they use part of the book to guide you through the tuning process.

so what is this i hear about a competition? im alright at driving games.. i mean i can get the licenses and stay on the road but theres no way im going to win a online race. and then a real race i doubt i win.
i just wanted the wallet and fob. :D

Need to pay my dad back to £200 I owe him then I can get the collectors edition.

I have worked out I can pay him back and get the £60 for the CE be the beggining of November. It had better still be in stock by then.

Ordered many games from play.com over the years and all have arrived 1 day before the release date. As for Amazon I have heard of people not recieving their games until 1/2 days after the release date!

just going by personal experience

ditto! This happened a few times when I have preordered games through Amazon (north america). So I decided to stop using the Amazon service for these items.

I preordered the CE through Gamestop. How are they for prompt delivery of new releases (north america)? anyone?
:)

punt!
anyone?
thanks!
:)
