GT5 - Collector's Edition

I got the collectors edition which comes with the apex book, but not with the car model.

The apex magazine is nicely made.

The three major chapters in the book are:

1. Driving techniques
2. Understanding car specs
3. Tuning & settings

Altough nice to have for someone who wants to get the most out of gt5,
its probable not worth it if you have to pay 30 dollars/euros extra.

I got mine for 80 euros instead of 70 so I just bought it.

I definitely think it's worth the extra money. Just based on contents, I think the book will be awesome. If you are worried about monetary value, then those 1:43 scale model cars go for $40-$50 each on their own. So it's actually worth more than $100 in my opinion.

My friend in the states will be buying the CE for me today, and shipping it over here. I will not be able to play it for a couple of more days, but 5 years >>> 2-3 days.

The clear plastic case for the car was scuffed up.
The Apex book is nice but the print is small!

305 pages, and yes there is a car list, but the list doesnt tell you if its Premium or Standard

That looks great, I think the NA version only gets the car list in the apex magazine right? Anyway can you do me a favour and try to weight your collector's edition please?!

I'm contemplating canceling my Collectors Edition order from GameStop. I've had so many issues with them getting it to ship on time the last few days, and my order still doesn't say it has shipped.

I think the collectors edition is junk! I just opened my nice box to find the insides were poorly packaged and torn. I was looking forward to the key chain, but after first glance I noticed it too was of poor quality. I suggest you all keep your money.

I've just called Futureshop and Wal-mart too, and I guess it is true that the GT5 CE in Canada is exclusive to EB Games.

Can anyone else in Canada confirm if they have been able to buy a CE from anywhere except EB Games? I think I saw a post earlier on this thread which said CEs were being sold in a store called Game-arama in Toronto. If it is exclusive to EB Games, then how is this possible?

Okay, two important points, one of which is a question, that anyone who got the CE must know if they pre-ordered at Gamestop.

1. Did your DLC code to unlock the McLaren F1 and NASCAR car work? When I entered it, it only gave me the NASCAR car, and not the McLaren.

2. The Apex book does not include all the cars as it excludes all NASCAR cars. Maybe they purposely did that as a NASCAR DLC will come out giving us more cars.

Got my CE and am very happy I did! The book is awesome and the bonus cars look great although I can't drive them on gtlife yet.

Ah ok. Then that makes sense! bestbuy.com still shows the CE available in store, but bestbuy.ca doesn't even list it. So, it's no wonder you are getting your CE from there. We, up here in Canada, aren't as lucky.

I would call up your local BestBuy first and check it out. BestBuy.com did have it unlisted for a while and they apparently have separate inventories for pre-order and in-store copies. 👍

I did call them last night just before they closed. The guy even put me on hold because he had to, "go in the back and check the boxes." He said there were no CEs, but they had loads of boxes with the SEs.

Checked the receipt 3 times and it's definitely not there.

FYI, I just called GS and they gave me the code. Anyone who doesn't get the code should call the GS you bought it from.

I am pretty sure thats just for the Chromeline cars. I got those, but no pre-order cars.

Picked up my CE this morning at Bestbuy, they only had 3 on the shelf.

Also picked up my CE at Best Buy, they put it on hold for me...but I saw about 6 on hold for others as well assuming they were pre-orders. Had a friend called and they sold out less than an hour after opening up, saw that the DLC car codes were going on ebay for 50-60 dollars...

Picked up the CE from BestBuy today. My backup (just-in-case) copy was also delivered by Amazon today. Oh well, will be ebaying the 2nd copy over this weekend.

Edit: Returned CE @ LJV BestBuy. Had to request the counter person to go easy while she was repackaging the game after inspecting it. She almost ripped the COA and most definitely crumpled a few pages of the mag.
