Beliall
because they made us wait 5 years

They don't care mate, we all waited the same length of time regardless of SE or standard edition.

i know but i can dream, and if we do get extra stuff i can say i told you so :p

You could watch it in HD on youtube from your PS3, google for instructions. But yeah it's not quite the same.
Wait...what? I can use my PS3 to watch HD YouTube content? I'm such a noob!!

On topic...yeah, I'd love to see a 'Making Of' film packaged with GT5. I mean there's so much to talk about and see...it would be really impressive to see a 2 hour documentary about all that stuff.

ditto! This happened a few times when I have preordered games through Amazon (north america). So I decided to stop using the Amazon service for these items.

I preordered the CE through Gamestop. How are they for prompt delivery of new releases (north america)? anyone?
:)

punt!
anyone?
thanks!
:)

I almost did... but seeing as how there's a GameStop a 15min walk away from me, it didn't make much sense. I'd recommend in-store pre-order unless it's not at all reasonable for you to get there. As in, gas to drive there would actually cost more than shipping.

Since the website has it, the store should too. I just walked in, told them I wanted to pre-order the CE, and they asked how much money I wanted to put down in advance ($20). Just have to walk in on release day with my receipt and pay the rest, pretty simple 👍

Overnight shipping from gamestop is free with a coupon. While I have 3-4 GS within a 15 mile radius, I would rather order online now and not worry about what I might be doing november 2nd that prohibits me from getting the game that morning/day/night. Just a precautionary thing in my case.

All my friends and family know that I am not free that week. Nothing short of an emergency will prevent me from picking my copy up.

Nothing short of an emergency huh?... shoot yourself, it's GT5
I've already pre ordered my collectors edition from amazon, looking forward to spending the rest of my life in isolation.

It's a game. Almost everything comes before it.
I treat it like a hobby. When I sit in front of my DFP I am as inaccessible as any guy in a wood working shop or his garage.

I am not ignorant to the world around me, but if you are going to pull me away your reasoning better be more important than the lid on the pickle jar or talking about how dumb your co-workers are.

What if America's Next Biggest Loser in on TV? Surely that's more important!

As much fun as watching fat people going to borderline unhealthy extremes to lose as much weight as possible as quickly as possible can be, it does not compare to Gran Turismo.

How can you call sitting in front of a screen, playing with silly toys to drive a silly game a hobby? :p
I have/will put this much money into GT5:
PS3 - $600
DFP - $125
Wheel Stand Pro - $110 (I think)
GT5: Collector's Edition - $100

How can I call that a silly game? I also have a history of regularly putting in 6 hour, or longer, sessions.

And before someone comments on the PS3 doing other stuff too: As long as Gran Turismo exists PlayStation will be the first console of every generation in my home. GT is why I buy a PlayStation and then get the other consoles when I can scrape the money together on the side.

Ah, well, I was only pulling your leg. Those are the sorts of comments I get for my habit hobby, you see... :O

Anyway, I would have invested more if I could afford it. A G25 and the console, plus a few other bits and bobs over two years, just about do it for me for now.

And I'll probably be "scrimping" for the Collector's Edition anyway.

No one says that to me anymore. When they think it is just a silly game I sit them down in front of it and let them have a go at it. When they have trouble handling a car I suggest they try tuning the setup and their faces go blank. At that point it occurs to them that I am doing more than just playing a silly game.

Sadly, this approach doesn't work if you play with a pad :(

I'm thinking twice about the signature edition. I could buy a DFGT and the standard copy for less than that. I don't like the Orange SLS model either, and i'm not bothered about entering a lottery draw thingy for a real SLS (As somebody posted when it was first announced, what about the insurance? :p). I would gladly have put up £100 to get the Stealth GTR, but Sony Europe wants to build a relationship with Mercedes Benz instead :yuck: ...Maybe the next GT Academy will be for a place in a DTM seat with Mercedes

Absolutely right, this is a hobby just like any one out there.
Some people however think videogames are just for kids.

Maybe you should try out how much **** you get for riding a sport bike, people will call you reasonable if you go back to just playing videogames after that

Have I got this wrong?

In the US the Collectors Edition gets a key fob and a badass model car. In the UK we get some bloomin' postcards? Whoopee-do!

What would you rather have as well as the game, book and extra cars?

Short-changed methinks. And Amazon putting "Collector’s Edition inlay sleeve art " as something 'included in the box' just rubs it in really.

People justifying their choice of which edition of the game to buy? That's off course? Sure, whatever you say :sly:

Maybe reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, but talking about video games being a hobby or not, has what to do with the collectors edition?

example

if you just want to play with a radio controlled car, you go to argos and spend a tenner

if RC cars are your hobby, you spend loads more on a decent one

so if GT is just a game to you, buy the standard, if tis means more to you, grab the signature ed

So going for the Standard version somehow means GT5 won't mean as much to me than shelling out an incredible amount of money on extra paraphernalia which doesn't add anything to the gameplay?
The game itself is exactly the same whatever version you choose ( save from a few extra "special cars" which don't get me excited frankly and will probably be later available to all through DLC ) which can't be said of your RC car example as they're basically completely different in quality and purpose.
Funny that a lot of people apparantly think you can only be a "serious fan" if you're going for the more expensive options like spending more equals more credibilty.
Standard version will more than suffice for me ( and I love GT since the first one ) but I won't be persuaded to spend that much on "geek bling bling".
