Instead of indianapolis what everybody thinks, including me, that will be the chosen track, I'd like to see a GT classic track like trial mountain, Grand Valley, Deep Forest. It would be nice to see how they look with GT5 graphics.

They didn't really "give" it to you, you paid for prologue and I'm sure they made a hell of a lot of profit out of all the people who bought prologue. ;)

A "demo" with only 2 cars and 1 track doesn't really bother me... that's all you need to determine if the game is good enough to buy. Thats assuming it actually contains the features of the final game (AI, damage, etc etc).

My point is that we got more than what most other companies would have given to us. Even though we paid for Prologue we still got that much from them which is a lot more than any other company would have done. Also I didnt mind paying for prologue if it helped pay for the development of the final GT5.

You guys think this is proof that GT5 may have Livery editor?

I know PD can pain the cars anyway they can, but I hope livery makes it into GT5!

I would be very surprised if the final code is not already 99.9% signed off and ready to go.

I reckon the next few months will be adding as many of the newest cars possible or planning how they can sneak another 12 months of development time in just to see if they can make it a bit more perfect.

Indeed. The final code should be nearly done by now. However, even though it should, it doesn't mean it is. Game developers are crazy nowadays and as far as I know, code is being worked on until the last possible minute. Physics, graphics and sound are probably done, you can't really work on them in the last months unless you're talking about minor tweaking. Secondary things like damage however are a different story, and may not be ready by the time the demo ships.

It's a DEMO
This is stated on the official gran turismo web site, i quote.
"...until the demo is taken down in late January."
http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/academy/2010/
OK, I'll give you that. However, even on this GB site it is still under a GT Academy header. As I said in my post you refer to, one can still still see it as a demo. But my opinion stands, it is not meant to be a GT5 demo, it just happens to be one.

Where (link please)? Where did 'they' state that it is a demo? I cannot remember reading that on any of the official sites. But I might have missed it (in which case I will humbly crawl back into my cave). As far as I know it is not a demo, I repeat: NOT A DEMO. It is a special version to allow for the 2010 GT Academy, which, as a side effect, will give us some insight into the progression GT5 has made compared to GT5 Prologue. If you want to call that a demo, fine.

What else would you call it?

It probably won't be the only demo before the commercial release, most certainly won't. But it's a demonstration of GT5 that also happens to be for the GT Academy.

It's a clever piece of marketing to get more involved in the GT Academy, while also giving us a sneak peek at what GT5 entails for us.

It's a demo, albeit not a very big one.

How come this isn't on the official GT website?

PD are absolutely shiite when it comes to promoting their products!!
They dont need to, their work and their product are enough to speak for themselves...
...unlike another loud-mouth developer who does not measure up and who just spit out hot air...

I cant belive some ppl ... sack if you dont want the Demo ..Then Dont download it . then wait till GT5 .. more bandwidth for the rest of us that does want a demo ..

id rather play a demo and wait for a kick ass game .. then play a unfinished game now full of updates and fixes in the future .

I would think that PD is doing every thing they can to get this game out as soon as possible. sooner its out .. the sooner they get paid . Its commen sence .
i Could not agree more with you my friend "Kaz-Care-Bear"... 👍
The games being basically the same price,
i would rather pay $60 every five years for a great game that would last me as long, than pay $60 every 2 years for a short-of-satisfactory game with full of DLC and have to pay nother $60 two years later ;)

now, which one is cheaper?

Get my catch guys?!

Thats the demo? 2 of the same car and 1 track? Thats it? Oh yeah thats ultra weak. Could have easily been a GT5P add on. :indiff:
GT5 and GT5P dont share the same menus and options, and even less driving physics... they are both different games!
Again i repeat...
GT5P is a prototype, a draft of what GT5 will be or at least will be, it's the beta version!
GT5 DEMO / COMPETITIOn edition is the final version in a sampler version...

how hard could it be for you all to understand...

It wouldve been easier for them to give us nothing, really, they just shouldnt give us anything.

Seriously, if this is a new GT5 build, they would need to patch everything new from it (physics, maybe sound, maybe damage) to Prologue, not to mention that they would need to fit it in the games structure.
I agree with you for why we get GT5 Demo instead of GT5-P Spec 4....
and I would much rather have a GT5 Demo than Prologue Spec 4...

Keep in mind that we are now NO LONGER IN PROLOGUE mode, we have stepped up with a new physics that cannot be applied to what has been abused in Prologue!

If they released a Spec 4, i am pretty sure some of you would be yelling for why they didnt release a real GT5 demo instead... :ouch:

just stop complaining :)

I am excited I did not say i was not - i just wondered if we were to get skid-marks in this latest build.

Am I not allowed to say that?

Am I not allowed an opinion?

Am I being censored?

Can we only post 'we love PD ever so much' fluffy posts on here?

This forums a joke - 'Brown Nose PD or stay away' should be the strap-line for this forum.

if everybody in the world was like the people on here who cuss you if you want more we would live in a world without cars, planes and trains etc.

we'd still be sitting in caves around a camp fires cos it was 'enough'.

Well NO!! It's not enough we want and should get more than a poxy one track and 2 versions of the same car.

plus this is free to anybody with a PS3!!! - what about us mugs who forked out hard earned cash in a recession to play prologue??

Surely we should get the above update and a whole lot more??

Enough? ha, far from it we want a lot more.

Well I do anyway - i don't care about what everybody else thinks - hey you should be more like me too and don't worry about other peoples opinions - have you not got something interesting in your life to do other than have a pop at people with an opinion different to yours?

How very sad you must be.
In our village (GTP) of Car-Bear, we shall name you the Care-Bare that always wants more... do you feel better now and happy to be integrated among us... expecially that you have that extra edge!

Seriously... Dont worry, be happy :) It could have been Nothing at all until Spring 2010.

Well, people complaining have a point. Why should PD be treated differently than any other company? Because they've taught us to freak over the smallest confirmed info they gave us? If it's just for the Academy, then OK. But they state it's a demo. Imagine EA releasing a demo with 2 cars and 1 track. We would spit in their face for that. Compared to the lack of news over the last months this demo is a major event and I'm really looking forward to it (actually I'm overexcited). But that doesn't mean we don't deserve more for the 5 years of patience. And if they don't show us the damage, and other supposed to be in the final version features, than demonstration of what is this gonna be?
The downloadable NFS Shift was practically as is! I tested and this game sucks big time... I am glad they didnt have more cars...
Even with no demo, i would have bought GT5 with any hesitation, being confident that this product will crush anything that came out of 2009.

Having said that, i agree with you that nay free bees, or extra gift coming from anybody is ALWAYS nice! But that's up to the giver... you dont go claiming you have a right for free stuff either...
We can only hope.

An exclusive and special something for those of us with Prologue would have been a nice gesture coming from PD... but if i dont receive anything, am not going to spit on them...

I wonder how many realize that this demo is probably not going to showcase the final game? I'm sure it will have new physics, graphics and hopefully damage and sounds too but that doesn't mean they will be the same in the final game. We are talking about a 3-4 months gap here. A lot can be changed.
It is the final game... slim chance of having GT5 drastically different than what they will release on the 17th...
Furthermore... if it's for the ACADEMY, this better be the final version. Because from their point of view, it would be unacceptable to have players compete on a Beta version...

and the more i think about it... Could the delay due to a need to give a head start for the Competition...?

We dont deserve any more from them than what we got. We got GT5 Prologue and GTHD which is a lot more than any other company would give us.
at least someone who has some senses in them... i feel better now, i can go on have a nice weekend knowing there is still hope on this earth...

My point is that we got more than what most other companies would have given to us. Even though we paid for Prologue we still got that much from them which is a lot more than any other company would have done. Also I didnt mind paying for prologue if it helped pay for the development of the final GT5.
I dont mind contributing to the final development of GT5 either, i am actually proud to have supported PD in a way...

I don't know if I'm alone on this, but since the US isn't getting GT Academy, I'd have NO problem if they chose NOT to tag our cars.

Mostly likely US and Canada car's wont be tagged for our demo. I am happy with it. It would be pointless to drive a car with hopes and dreams tagged to its body!

in gt tv there is GT Academy 08' 4 episodes and final dubai episode Downloading right now. Better quality than youtube :) I cried when they destroyed cluth in 15 min ... ;)

uhh 2 whole weeks before new demo of new physic...

btw i wonder if they hold standard/profesional... if they put only one physic, they may go easy way downgrading profesional and add arcade feel.. which i fear most...

<praying for cluth mode on/off without using triangle, better physic than profesional>......

They are not "your/US" cars, they are GT academy cars, and you are given the honour of being able to test them. But the regional demo for you could be different, i don't know. The demo is highly linked to the Academy, if it's not then there is no point in giving "you" a 370z they could give you a Nascar demo.

I don't think there's any chance the Academy Trial will be with only arcade or dumbed down pro physics. We may get a choice in the demo, but if they only needed a basic set of GT physics, they could have patched the car and track into Prologue. No, this is supposed to be a taste of serious Gran Turismo 5, and a sample of what it is to drive the real life 370Z on a real track, and see what the contestants are made of.

And to all you whiners, like craste who insisted that Polyphony at the very least give us a screengrab of a new full GT5 car or a peek at a track, once again you're getting more than you asked for. And still you guys complain.

Meh on you. :D

Not drastically different, that's not what I meant. I mean it's probable that there will be differences. After all, if it was done already, it would be released on the 17th, not demoed.

A bit letdown by the fact they said "section of a circuit"...
I know this could be intetrpreted different, but to me sounds not like a complete racetrack, anyways, looking forward to it 👍

Crap! You're right. I just went back and re-read the orig. link.

"To enter the Academy racers will have to post their best overall leaderboard times negotiating a specially created section of a new Gran Turismo 5 circuit."

That's kind a lame.

As well as $50 per year to play online. Which is also why I went with PS3. However, I really only bought my PS3 for GT5 and could care less about online racing for the most part. I enjoyed GT4 for years without and I'll be okay with GT5 offline. But with the delay of GT5 I have bought another game that is online only and I love it

You know, whats really the point of some of you guys even considering getting the game if all you'll do is complain. Its obvious you'll never be happy because even if they do include what you want, you'll still be the unhappy, nitpicky nutjobs you always are and will find something else not even worth mentioning to complain about.

I'm one of those "GT4 with better graphics and online play makes me happy" kinda guys.

Anything else is just a bonus. 👍
