What's GT Academy???? Is it dealing with real cars or cars from Gran Turismo 5????!!

I haven't entered before, but from what I gather, you download a track and two cars, set lap times in time trial mode, then load your times to an online leaderboard.

The top 20 (i think) fastest players from each of the countries listed will go to a race track in their own countries(from here on in, we're no longer talking about gran turismo. You will actually be racing in real life.), where they will compete in a race weekend in identical cars.

The winners of those national heats will attend an international race weekend (dunno where) and the winner of that (and possibly a runner up)will be employed by nissan as a racing driver and will compete in low level gt racing (like GT4). Providing you do well, I imagine you will move up the ladder into more difficult categorys.

Basically, it's your chance to become a racing driver, but you must prove yourself worthy in the game first.

EDIT:
GT academy is a competition in GT, the best 20 will go to silverstone and get trained in a real car, finally one person gets selected and gets a place in a real competition.

Ok, that clears things up a bit.

BTW:
demo is gt5 code
It is GT5 code, not GT5P

Awesome.

Quick question was the 1st academy locked on pro physics,I know it was N1's for tyres.

I hope the G25 has proper support in the options this time.

I hope too, m8. But there is a huge chance that PD will forged about G25 again and will focus on DF GT etc :( IMHO

They haven't forgotten, KY stated when asked it's not officially supported because it's not a official GT wheel.

just a quick question and clarification. So is it a demo of GT5 and not just for limited number or gamers or promo? Or you need to win or do something to get the demo? Is it for just a limited number of gamers worldwide? Oh my time to turn on my ps3 for 48 hours hehe.

how do you think - is there a chance, that g25 won't work with GT5 demo or will have problems?

Call me ungrateful, or whatever you want to...but one car (two if you want to be absolutely anal about it) and one track seems lame.

I'd might as well stick with Prologue; how does a demo of the final game (for specific purposes of course, that I understand) have less than a demo of a demo to the full game?

It's because it is specifically for a competition. It technically isn't even a demo. It is a competition entry form of sorts.

There doesn't need to be more than one car and one circuit. This "demo" is first and foremost the first stage of the GT Academy. Another circuit and more cars would be useless for the competition.

Call me ungrateful too, but if this is just a time trial I suppose we won't get any AI car or damage.

But MAYBE we'll get the "top secret trailer" as intro.

Stupid question, but it may have come up last time so someone might know the answer.

I'm a New Zealand citizen with an NZ passport, but I'm currently in Japan. I'd totally fly back to NZ for finals or whatever if I had to, but does the fact I live in Japan rule me out? Would suck a lot if it did...

Not to sound cocky here but Ireland is listed as a country, and well theres only 4 million of us, and about 4 proper GT fans! National finals here I come! Yeah I know we'll probably be thrown in with the UK.

So, what do you call it for the countries that can't participate in the GT Academy time trial?
There's a "special Gran Turismo 5 time trial challenge" for the countries not participating in GT Academy. ;)

You'd rather they didn't release it in those countries then? Be grateful, its main purpose is as a qualification for GT Acadamy, the ability to play some new GT5 code is an added bonus.

oooohhhhh lucky you guys !! Sort of like being allowed to run along beside the car while the rest of us have a chance at glory... :D

Just reading the EU blog, and saw that their store update had a trailer for the 2010 GT academy, anyone know if there is some new stuff from GT5 in this video?

If it's the same trailer as the one on the blog, then no.

What about the GT5 advertisement on PSN.com. It showed GT5 with the words "Your wish list", above it. Which basically means it's coming before christmas. And with the demo coming on the 17th, that doesn't seem logical.

I have to say this is really awesome. Even though I live in the US and the GT Academy is not currently coming here I am happy to just try out the new physics.
