What about the GT5 advertisement on PSN.com. It showed GT5 with the words "Your wish list", above it. Which basically means it's coming before christmas. And with the demo coming on the 17th, that doesn't seem logical.

That was clearly a mistake, most likely due to lack of communication. GT5 is not coming thins month.

According to the US Playstation Blog, those from the US and Canada who enter the Gran Turismo Time Trial Challenge, have a chance to win tickets to the 2010 Indianapolis 500.

Both US and Canada will run their own contest, with separate winners chosen for each country. At the end of the competition period, the winner with the best combined time for both tuned and non-tuned Time Trials will drive away with round trip airfare and hotel accommodations for two (winner and guest) to attend the Indianapolis 500® Mile Race on May 30, 2010, as well as a VIP package which includes two (2) VIP suite tickets and all-access passes to the garage, pit area, and Victory Lane for pre- and post-race celebrations for the race. The VIP package also includes all-access passes for Carb Day®--which includes the final Indy 500® practice, pit stop competition and special concert festivities--as well as special event car rides in the 2010 Indy 500 event vehicle.

So is there any verification that it will be free?

They wouldn't charge you to enter the competition. Even for the countries where you can't. I can't see any reason it wouldn't be free.

I read the press release link a few posts above. Gotta say it's a bit of a let down that this "demo" will most likely be some silly drift "challenge" on just a part of a horrible track (Indy GP).

While it's exciting to see something new for GT5. A drift demo is "yawn..."

It's a Time Trial which is quite different from drifting. The latter is point based, the former as the name suggests is time-based.

Can you download the demo if you're not from one of the included contries like Canada ? If not I'll just have to take my ''UK'' account

Anyway it's a nice gift and I can't wait to run on a new track. It just made my day, very good news. 👍

Call me ungrateful, or whatever you want to...but one car (two if you want to be absolutely anal about it) and one track seems lame.

I'd might as well stick with Prologue; how does a demo of the final game (for specific purposes of course, that I understand) have less than a demo of a demo to the full game?

The DEMO on the 17th, will be available to everyone...
so long as you have a PS3 available in working condition...

This DEMO is only here to keep us tucked in until Spring 2010.
It's only an appetizer before the Main Course (Entree)
GT5P was a small meal in between Lunch and Dinner.

You don't want to spoil your Dinner do you ? ;)

The Demo is free right guys?? i forgot to notice that detail...
i think that what Cletus 699 was asking...

Seriously? Drift is complete garbage! It is a discrace to motorsports to even concider drifting racing at all! It is a judged event just like monster trucks freestyle, it is up to a few people on the sidelines opinions who wins. That is not a race in my book! If PD makes drifting a big part of GT5 then I am afraid that the GT series has lost at least one future customer!

Damn and blast, I almost want to treat myself with a PS3 this Christmas now. But until there's a rock solid release date for Europe... but I'm tempted as hell!

And hopefully no "this is just a demo it will be change in the final game" crap. It better be rock solid, because if it's the basis on which they'd like to chose their next GT Academy candidate, they better not mess this one up. Can't wait for the pics and videos floating in!

Dont be afraid my friend... GT is still a "Grip" game no matter what... "Drift" is nowadays as much a racing as "Grip" style... Just Accept it... There is big crowds for this new style of driving... They are both equally important... with "GRIP" being the main priority... you will not see F1 races be out of fashion anytime soon, and even less so being replaced by F1-drift, which would be kinda cool tho LOL!

GTAcademy rules are:

"Anyone who has ever held a national or international racing license or who is under the age of 18 is exempt from the competition."

I have a question about it. Is the mentioned racing licence the "official" racing driver licence. Don't know how to explain it because english it's not my natural language. Is it the licence to participate in rallyes or official track races? If someone speaks spanish, is it "Licencia de piloto federado" ?
Or is it a mistake and it refers to the normal driving licence?

Thanks!

The site also showed God of War III. It is pretty obvious they just threw up images of new and upcoming titles, and didn't pay attention to if they would be out for the holiday. Or maybe they intend someone to buy you a pre-order for christmas?

Great! My birth day is on the 20th! So it's a nice gift for the 17th! See PD listens to me (ok ALL their fans)

Man I can not wait!

If there is a track editor, then GT5 would be an ideal game for drifting fans especially with the popularity of Gymkhana(?).

It actually showed the God of War Collection which is out now.(It's both of the ones released on PS2)

Anyone can download the trial, even if it isn't on your local PS Store, just create an account for a country that has it. But like has already been said man times, people who arn't in a country for GT Academy participants will still get a time trial demo.

Please do not get me wrong, it is fun to watch and I know it takes a lot of tallent to do right, but it is in no way, shape, or form racing! Therefor it does not belong in GT in my opinion, and like I said before, not that I matter to them, but if it is something I have to do to 100% complete GT5 then it will be the last one that I will spend my hard earned cash on!

They refer to a proper racing license. The overall goal is to take someone who has no real world race experience and turn them into a racer.
If you already have a racing license (and have spent time racing) then you would fall outside the selection.

More or less, Drifting will be part of GT5... but it (DRIFT) will never ( i doubt it) be the predominant form of driving in GT series.

I understand you, i like it myself, but i DO NOT KNow how to drift at all... i suck at it BIG Time... even to this day in GT5P, i have not done much ! I have yet to learn how to... so most likely, i will be in the same case scenario as you... Drifting will not be my priority in playing GT5... i will get to it whenever i just feel like it... But just like other options and choices... it's always go to have it there... in the end, it's you who wants to play with it or not...

FM3 has drift emphasis too... I cant see how GT5 would leave that out, considering the amount of people liking that art...

Sorry for my off topic rant. Back to the topic at hand, I am looking forward to trying out the new demo with the new physics!

EDIT: I know that the 370 is the new model Z car but does anyone here know what has changed since the 350Z?

OMG I'm sooooo excited. And being released just as I get on break from college....perfect timing!! Merry Christmas to all, thank you very much PD!

I am also happy that GT5 Demo will use new Physics and code from full GT5 game and not GT5 Prologue..
I remeber people who play GT5 Tokyo demo mentioned cars have new physics as well you can fell car gets more loose when braking. :D woot I can not wait to test it out myself.
