This is a quote about some bike tyres, but may also apply to car tyres on track and especially for a rwd car which the 370z happens to be...
"The main forces acting on a front tyre act in basically the opposite direction (braking) to those acting on a rear tyre (acceleration) therefore the primary tread grooves are arranged accordingly . By arranging the front pattern in this way the tyre gets much improved "even wear" characteristics, especiallly in high speed/circuit use. There is no deterioration in wet grip as a result, in fact , if anything, water drainage is improved."
In this case there is no way wet weather performance would be any better, the grooves would channel water into the centre of the tyre. Also note on a Bike the rear brakes are hardly used and when they're much less than the front.
