In related Super GT news, an FR NSX-GT equipped with a Zytek KERS has been spotted testing at Motegi. Toyota and Nissan were present also, probably testing KERS as well, which I believe is being looked at for 2012. It's strange why they'd use an NSX mule, maybe HSV-10GT chassis' are too limited in number presently?

I wonder what sort of future licensing PD has with Super GT, and if we'll see subsequent season's cars available in the future as DLC as there isn't a dedicated game coming out as per NASCAR and WRC.

I thought that both NASCAR and WRC games were coming out soon or are you talking about the 2012 season still?

Where is this from?

My GT5 demo impressions - 3D version

Anyway - as far as 3D goes, good for some TV/Film, crappy for games. So not worth getting a 3D TV for it IMO.
Some of the Blue Ray footage look great, but it feels like a those pop up books, you can see and feel the depth between objects, but the objects still look flat, like cardboard cutouts. Kinda like parallax scrolling.
The Blu Ray footage of Motor Storm had a good feel of depth, but was pretty flickery.

GT5 in 3D looks quite blurry, and the 3D effect is non-existent to me compared to Motor storm and the other Blu Ray footage....
But it definitely runs at 60fps

Now onto GT5 game play/physics -

I can't get a good feel with the DS3, feels empty, it doesn't even vibrate, will have to wait till I try it with a DFGT wheel, but it's way different to Prologue, and different again to the Time Trial with a pad.

It feels more connected to the road than in Prologue, where you felt more like on skates. While it doesn't feel as twitchy as the Time Trial.
In the Time Trial, you had to use super smooth steering and throttle on the pad, but here it feels more smoothed out and easier to handle. I don't think it does 1:1 steering to wheel movement anymore like it was in the Time Trial. There is probbaly some speed sensitive steering limiting now.
The tyre model is different too, it's much more progressive, but can still snap if your not careful or over correct

I had 3 goes, all in Pro mode, Pro Physics, no traction control, everything off etc. TV was pretty loud so I could hear the sounds clearly.

1) Motul Autech GT-R on the Tokyo track, R1 tyres. Had a pretty big over steer moment on turn 1, but after that I managed to get around the track ok. It felt pretty planted with all the down force and grip. AI blew me away off course

2) Time Trial - Nascar on the Madrid track with R1. This thing is hard to control, It doesn't like to turn, and the smallest wiff of the throttle smokes up the rear tyres! Pretty loud transmission whine, so this is probably the E3 build
The low revs off idle of this is really loud and rumbley. It takes ages for the car to get moving (or stop) if you lose control and have to start up again from a dead stop

3) AMG SLS on Rome - with Traction control on 1, on S3 tyres. It's quite progressive on these tyres. You can drift it quite predictably with practise.

Graphics wise, in 3D it looks like Prologue I guess. When I switched to outside view and slide sideways the smoke looked excellent, really dense.
Pro physics is no fun on a pad, relatively speaking but easier to handle than in the Time Trial with a pad. I donb't think you'd be competitive with a pad in pro physics against a wheel user anymore.

Are they just using the same V8 that the superGT SC430 cars use? I'm sure they didn't develop a new one.

Yes they have to because of GT500 regulations the only engine's that the teams are allowed to use are 3.4L V8's.

I accept that challenge :sly:

IMO the controller driving in GT5demo is 100 times better than in GT5P. Also the controller did not vibrate and I still felt connected to the road. If you are good in GT5P( I beat my share of folks online with my DS3 ) You will be a good In GT5.

Edit Also I had to use the X and the square button for throttle and break Ughh  I usually drive with the R2 being throttle and L2 being my break. But like I said after 30min of driving I got use to it. The best thing to me was the sense of speed and the cockpit vibration. Driving up hill and down hill has a better effect while driving 👍 I could of played this demo FOREVER! The driving is that fun in GT5, I cant Imagine how its going to feel with my G27.

He is saying that there is no dedicated JSGT game, like how there are dedicated games to NASCAR and WRC...

Well I'm at least 1 second faster on the wheel in Prologue and the Time Trial. You need precision now, and the wheel/pedals deliver that better with Pro Physics.

Oh no doubt bro I am faster on my wheel also, but after my G25 broke I was on the controller heavy. I won many races, but lost some I knew i could of won with my wheel. Going back to the controller has made me a better driver with my G27. I still think many controller users can be competitive online. 👍

I actually turned on Prologue last night (for the first time in months), and was watching the menus. I was watching that same replay I get all of the time with the guy drifting around London, then there was a picture showing a really classic Dodge vehicle, then a repeating image of the pits at Eiger while the pit crew was working on a Mini. In my head I was kind of "expanding" all of those to what they could be in GT5. I think it will be ridiculous.

Ahah! I do this all the time. Ridiculous indeed.

Yeah! i changed the controls so it was R2 and L2, felt much better to use them. I also really want a wheel, but i have no money at the moment so for now i'll have to stick with the DS3. But im not all that bad (not being big headed) but im at least 2 seconds faster then the next fastest friend i have who plays GT. I've also had a few top 100 places on the Prologue rankings on time trials, all with pro physics, aids off, DS3 etc....

I have a question now that the discussion is about wheels.

I would very much like to get a Driving Force GT for Gran Turismo 5 but is it a good idea without a proper setup? I can't imagine it will be an improvement playing from the sofa and putting the wheel on a coffee table. Any advice how I can place it comfortably without buying a wheel stand?

buy an iron board

So I can iron my clothes or what did you mean by that?

Some people have used ironing boards to mount there wheels on. I use a wooden tv tray to mount my DFGT on.

I've got a question... have they released any details on when your car gets damaged during a race, does it automatically become restored after the race or do you have to pay a body shop based on how much damage you did to fix it? And if you don't fix it after the race is it starting damaged at the beginning of the next race? This would become needing to be more strategic during the multi-race championship races to not ruin your car in the first couple races of a 5 or 10 race series.

An ironing board is about dash height when it's standing. You strap the Wheel on that, and put the petals on the floor and boom! you've got a great wheel set up.

Ok thanks for the advice. At first, I didn't really get the iron board suggestion but it doesn't sound like an ideal solution. The TV tray seems like a good idea though. I need something I can drag close so I don't need to stretch my arms.

Functional maybe, but not a good look for the living-room, along with the 2 meters worth of USB cabling running across...

I think there are currently only two wireless wheels on the market, one for the 360 and another for Wii. If only Logitech/Fanatec would get into this for the PS3...

Two videos from Gamescom! I know it's old but I think is worth watching :) Plus, In one video we can see the SLR cockpit~

Your car automatically repairs itself at no cost to you at the end of every race. However, Kaz did not mention what happens on race weekends in career mode.

TV trays and ironing boards work. However, if your house is full of quite extraneous items such as my own, you may find that a school desk, (yeah really, a 5th grader's school desk) works just brilliantly, and can be easily modified as well. Just slap your wheel to the front, and put your pedals underneath. You can even put cup holders on it. Just a suggestion, whatever works best for you.

I don't have anything similar to a school desk at hand. I would need to buy some kind of furniture.

Also, I don't see how is it comfortable to play from a chair with a 90 degree angle between seat and backrest? I always imagine some sort of armchair setup to replicate a driving seat position but maybe that's a wrong assumption?

Ah, no it's not that kind of school desk. It's just the desk. I slid it up against my sofa, then lowered it a bit. All in all I'm in a comfortable racing pose, and it serves its purpose.

My DFGT septup is actually like this. My TV is on an entertainment center and my wheel is mounted right in front of TV, so it's like playing a racing game at the arcade. And I use my computer chair as the seat. It doesn't really bother me at all, but maybe that's just me.
