Ah, no it's not that kind of school desk. It's just the desk. I slid it up against my sofa, then lowered it a bit. All in all I'm in a comfortable racing pose, and it serves its purpose.

Ok but is that desk completely vertical or is the surface positioned above your legs?

I think I would need something like this so I don't have to stretch my arms to reach the wheel:

Your car automatically repairs itself at no cost to you at the end of every race.
Are we sure about that? I know the car is repaired after every race, but at zero cost? That doesn't sound right. Arcade mode, yeah, no problem.. but career mode? I think this will be a first. Every other sim racer I've ever played with damage made you pay for it during the career progression mode.. it's taken out of your winnings at the end of each race.

Not quite. My legs go under the desk as the supports for the desk simply linger on the sides (like a small table). It ends up looking like a small dash board with wheel and room for my legs under it as it's propped up against my sofa, giving me somewhere to sit. The peddles go under the desk as well.

And btw, I'm not that fat.

@Jedi2016- Yes, my bad. Your probably right, you do have to pay for it in career mode. However the option not to repair it is non-existant

I struggle to picture your description of the setup but do you mean that the supports for the table don't rest on the floor but on the sofa seat?

And I didn't try to portray you.

I wonder when Polyphony Digital is going to full release the full details off the game, since we are so close to november 2!!

I think I'm happy we are getting GT.

I have a question now that the discussion is about wheels.

I would very much like to get a Driving Force GT for Gran Turismo 5 but is it a good idea without a proper setup? I can't imagine it will be an improvement playing from the sofa and putting the wheel on a coffee table. Any advice how I can place it comfortably without buying a wheel stand?

I don't have much space and didn't want to spend much money either. I did a lot of research, but sometimes the best solution... is the simplest one. Here is what I did.

There are a lot of photos of my setup in there. You'll just have to keep skimming the pages. Hope this helps. 👍

They look like they are about to over-steer yet under-steer at the same time.

looks like the car barely has traction around any corners lol.. AI and Damage appears rubbish

First, nice GT logo. Just a quick glance but it does not seem like you can lean back without reaching far for the wheel. Can you give me any feedback on how you deal with that?

I would get sore in my back if I have to sit straight up for a longer period of time. That is why I previously suggested that I would like a table surface which allows me to position the wheel directly above my thighs (like in a real car).

Welll the trailer was nice..... but I think the gameplay video makes it the worst looking serious racer on ps3

You know, I thought it would bother me too. However, I had to finally make a compromise somewhere and I'm glad I did it the way that I did. I love the way that it is and haven't had any problems with the angle. :)

However, I did consider looking for a lower angle chair that would lean back, but then you have to hassle with mounting the pedals. It is sort of a catch-22.

By the way, is it space or money that is the concern? or maybe it is both like it was for me?

Couldn't agree more, the intro movie is probably better than anything in the game. Im glad there are these horrible games out there that make me realise how good GT is 👍

He is saying that there is no dedicated JSGT game, like how there are dedicated games to NASCAR and WRC...

Umm, duh.
Had a blonde moment.

I know you said you didn't want to get a wheel stand but I just received my WheelStand Pro a week ago and just got around to mounting my G27 on it and I'm pretty impressed. It has many different adjustment settings so you can use it in pretty much any seating arrangement, I use it with a nice leather chair that sits low to the ground. The stand folds down within seconds with the wheel mounted to it so you can store it under your bed or closet with ease.

 That is priceless.

Okay. 👍

Concern is that I don't feel like spending money on a dedicated racing seat or wheel stand. I think it's going too far just for a single game. So I'll try get comfortable with affordable Ikea furniture. Question is whether it will work in the long run.

Hi guys...If anyone wants to read a transcript of the latest Qore (October 2010, Episode 29), I've put it up here (GT5 section of Qore only, of course):

There is mention of GT5 modeling taking 3-6 months per, but it is mentioned by Qore's interview (acting as narrator), so I'm a bit skeptical. Still though, they could have streamlined the process.

maybe some cars take three months, some might take up to 6.

Yes, definitely a possibility. The interesting bit is, however, as far as I know, this is the first that we've heard of a time table that is less than 6 months.

So....you know how to model highly detailed cars better than PD? I'm sure they try to make the game as quickly as possible, but the level of detail in the game is crazy and takes a while to make.

I think he was saying, they might have gotten the time down to 3 month "streamlined it from 6". Would make for a very intersting GT6.

PD might have more employers now.

Eh??? Please reread what I've written (and the previous following posts), as I think that you are being a bit unnecessarily harsh. The 3-6 month time period is from the new Qore. My suggestion is that it is possible that PD has quickened their process through efficiency and new methodology.
