Yesterday Sony's American branch informed that we may have to wait until 2011 to put teeth into the game. After numerous delays, we are a bit skeptical about a launch in 2010, but hope nonetheless that car enthusiasts get tough packages signed Polyphony Digital under the Christmas tree this year.[/I]"

Truly sad. But at this point, the most likely scenario(2011) and in keeping with the track record of this game so far.

Too little, Too late.

I'm praying for late November / early December.
Trophies are in every ps3 game, they made it a requirement.

2011?! prologue was out in 2007 and in development just after gran turismo 4. If I'm wrong someone please correct me...but this I expected i guess...I just hoped otherwise.

The smart money is on December.I mean, imagine, from kids to even grown men,EVERYONE will all want to find GT5 under their Christmas tree!!frankly..from a business standpoint,I sax 3 December.thats when the festive spirit will hit.

Don't care about the Christmas tree, never found any presents there but I like your prediction of 3 December.
This is 2 days before a Dutch tradition on which upon Santa Claus is based, it's called Sinterklaas ( pronounced sinta-claus ) which is a based on the real life holy man called Saint Nicholas living centuries ago in Turkey and was introduced in the US by Dutch immigrants and which involves getting presents and being rewarded for good behaviour ( sound familiar? ).
Anyway, was expecting a white Christmas due to the inclusion of snow in GT5 and still hope this will be the case ( besides visiting family and friends ofcourse ).
Don't believe in Sinterklaas anymore ( since last year, very traumatic ) and I guess most here don't believe in Santa Claus anymore but at least despite being fictional ( or based on real life ) you can always trust them to deliver on a fixed date.......unlike some I still believe in.

Well there are the casual gamers who will get it at xmas and play it with a pad and then there are the hardcore guys like most people on here who will get it as soon as it's released and be playing it with a wheel.. and probably not sleeping properly for a few days because of the amount of play time

That really isn't the most likely scenario, I'm sorry.
If you want to get the game in 2011, I won't stop you,
but I'm getting it at the end of November or early December.

THEY'RE skeptical? Hah! It's Sony's fault! And if this does turn out to be true and they push it to 2011, then I would rather not have any news, clips, info, pre-order pages, etc. till it hits the shelves. I will be in a GT blackout and attempt to erase any hopes of GT5 from my heart. :(

Me included. Proper hoping for the 1st week of Dec release. Finger's are losing blood supply due to crossing and holding too much :/. . Jke.

How is it SONY's fault? They're at maximum capacity with their Blu-Ray production and PD were late for their appointment.

This is false news, the game will be out in November but just not on the 2nd, and we should be getting an announcement around the 25th or sooner.

Dream on baby.

Heres hoping Santa comes through for you. ;)

Sorry, I have to be more practical.

Guys, they are trying to tell us as diplomatically as possible; It aint gonna happen.

2011 is the smart moneys bet. Maybe push it to April the beginning of the financial year.

Why don't we just wait for a new release date to be announced at the end of this month before speculating about things we have no clue about and 'proving' it with announcements by retailers or spokesmen who also haven't a clue but merely trying to avoid possible future damage control.
This delay is unfortunate as it is and yes a new one set at the end of this month isn't going to be trusted anymore since this happened but they won't screw it up again this shortly after this mistake now will they?
Yes it might be 2011 or late November or early December 2010, if it will be one of the latter you can be 'sure' the game is finished I guess and they're just trying to fit in into the production schedule and an appropriate marketing slot.
Just 2 more weeks and we'll know the new release date.

I dont care too much when it will get here but seriously? The most likely scenario is 2011? With whats at stake? (hype momentum and ALOT of christmas gift money) That alone gives me about 90% certainity that it will be out before christmas.
Also PD know they can only push it so far. Not that its their decision at this point...

Thinking its 2011 may be practical (so you wont be disappointed if it is) but not really realistic.

I admire you're optimism my friend:)

There's no guarantee we will know the release date in 2 weeks.

That's true. But please,
if you're a pessimist, please keep it to yourself.
At this moment,a lot of us can only use optimism.

The hype train is moving pretty fast already, they wouldnt screw that up. They like to delay stuff but they usually keep their promise of at least announcing a date when they say they would.

That's true! Although GT is known for its delays,
they really did improve their customer relationship over the years.

If they say it will ship before Christmas they will obviously give a date.

If however they say we regret to announce that we were unable to get GT5 out before the holiday season.
We are aware of the interest in this game but technical issues mean we are unfortunately unable release.

We want you to know we are still hard at work and will announce a new date in the near future.

Thanks for your continued support at this time.

Spagetti69:
Sure, thats the extra 10%... But i think they'll do everything they possibly can to get it out. It is their best selling exclusive franchise after all.

I think trophies should be based on events you win, bronze trophies for winning a set of beginner races, silver for advanced and nation based, gold for professional and endurance, platinum for extreme. Add in some for other special achievements like owning 100 cars and of course a platinum for finishing the game and we're done.

Trophies... how do you balance it in a game like this? Is there a limit of trophies a game can give? Could they split in categories (casual\sim, online\offline)?

Because IMO, they should make it worth, some trophies should be tied with challenge (tough and strict One Make races, Missions and Special Condition events) and not just a series of repetitive actions or mundane tasks (you already win prize cars and credits as rewards for completing races\cups\championships).

There's no guarantee we will know the release date in 2 weeks.

There's no guarantee this game will release at all but I guess they will announce something, it's up to us to believe it or not.

Question about the in game racing line. Does that dynamically change like it does in Forza? In each GT5 vid I see, there is a part where its red, where you're supposed to brake, but when the player brakes it doesnt change to blue.

If this is the case thats really lame.

Cygnus learn to drive with the line off. You will appreciate it more and go faster.

In GT5:Prologue the red part turns blue as your speed decreases indicating that your speed is getting adequate, so i guess in GT5 it will be dynamic too

I agree something will be announced wether it's a release date remains to be seen.

Sorry if this was already posted
Rumor: Gran Turismo 5 to be released on November 30th, and yes that's a Tuesday
I've just been PM'd the following regarding the release date of GT 5 - "Today early morning the date november 30th popped up at the US distributors internal mail. Just to let you know. If you want post it as a rumour." We checked the day of this date and it is indeed a Tuesday, the common day for game releases in the USA.
