Never known COD to ever be delayed or miss the Nov release window, Bobby Kotick makes sure that he keeps things tight as a publisher.

Well, if you would take a second (and probably closer) look at those CoD games, you found out that these CoD games are far from finised and far from the level of perfection like e.g. GT5 is.
And Mr. Kotick is somebody this industry DOESN'T need.

They announced it at TGS in September.

Enough time for hype to build up.
This game was supposed to be available to the public last march. How can you then miss a November date.

It's not complete yet.

Only my opinion mind.

Still was hardly "just before Xmas" especially considering Sony never officially promised it in 2009, this time however Sony has many times promised GT5 this year. So we wait and see.

(I personally don't see it making this year)

Nothing personal Jay as allways. Peace mate.

Maybe amazon will tell us lol.

I'm still amazed that DNF comparisons come up. I'm not sure if people followed that game or not but it was a mess. People have been able to continually play GT5 throughout its development while 3Drealms had to prove DNF even existed by allowing a guy named Jace Hall to play the game at their studio over 10 years after it was announced. Yes, that's how long it took for anyone outside of 3Drealms to actually get hands on time with the game. Before that the game only existed in the occasional screenshot which would literally be released years apart from each other.
So? Both have been in development for a looong time, haven't they? That's the point he's making. It's not like it's a serious comparison as you want it to sound like.

Me neither. In fact, a christmas 2011 release wouldn't surprise me one bit. It's PD we're talking about after all, and delaying their game is not something new but something we should be used to by now.

Me too, I've prepared myself for 2011, so anything earlier I see as a bonus.

The really annoying thing is that Sony/PD already know that it's not coming out for Xmas.
They won't tell us till the last possible minute so that people sitting on the fence about buying a PS3 may still go ahead and buy it.

They done the same last year. Annouced GT5 just before Xmas to release in Japan in March.
Just after the kids Ripped off the wrapping paper, bang delayed.

Sony your cruel.
That´s pretty much what they did to me, recently got a PS3 for the game and then they delayed it :@

Claw back some credibility Sony/PD and make an announcement of somekind.
The silence is deafening.

It's simply because they aren't comparable in any way. A lot of games have been in development for a long time, it's not like GT5 is just some rare event in the industry (while something like DNF is rare). It's actually pretty common especially when dealing with games that aren't simply trying to be a reskinned version of the previous entry in the series.

Cool. Maybe I should prepare myself for 2025 just to be sure to get the bonus?

That's what I told you! It's NOT a comparison. I bet he was simply mentioning DNF just because it's known by everyone for being the most delayed game in the world, and now GT5 happens to have been delayed quite a few times as well, officially and inofficially. He never compared the games to each other, you did.

EDIT: Sorry for the off topic BS, guys.

Well... if Keanu Reeves does not come down on Earth and take away our electricity (that include batteries and generators), followed by similar events depicted in Futurama: Bender's Big Score, where we lose everything to some martian scammers, then, I guess it will be possible to enjoy some GT5.

For what it's worth (probably nothing) I got this email from Amazon.com this morning:

The release date for the video game listed below has been changed by the publisher, and we want to provide you with a new delivery estimate based on the new release date:

"Gran Turismo 5"
Release date: December 31 2010
Estimated arrival date: December 31 2010

It's good you're trying to help etc but that exact email was posted 2 pages ago. Some people around here get hugely anal about reposts.

Thats exactly what i'm thinking. A lot of fans are whining about a release date at this moment. Forums are being spammed, mailboxes are filled with hate mail and questions. They can easily get rid of this by just announcing the release ate. There is no reason for Sony to be quite about it, unless they are affraid that the release date will cause even more fuss.
So Sony being quite about the release date seems like a confirmation to me that they told another lie and GT5 wont make it before Christmas. I'm counting on a Feb. 2011 release at the moment.

Was just giving him a heads up before someone blasted him with multiple :roll eyes: emoticons :)

Right , this thread will reach 3000 pages before GT5 is released. Quote this message mid 2011.

As much i'm disgruntled about not being able to play GT5 this week, i may be one of only a few on this forum that hope PD don't even whisper another release date until the game is definately Gold, it's being pressed to disk and all the shipping logistics are firmly in place.

I don't mind knowing less than 2 weeks in advance of the actual release, i do mind seeing yet another release date being announced then threatened by any number of things.

You better hope those bombers don't start using PS3's instead of printers.

Furthermore, i still am optimistic about a 2010 launch, and wouldn't be surprised to see a single worldwide release date mid-December.

Unlike last year, Sony don't seem to have many tricks up their sleeves for releases this Christmas.

It's just stupid and no other company would be able to lie like that and get away with it. It's just that GT is a huge name and we just have to buy the game when it releases.
I just can't see why Sony accepts Yamauchi to be so anti-patch and delay the money coming in even longer. Don't misunderstand me, he's a great guy but patching is not something to be ashamed of these days.

I wouldn't be surprised if GT5 gets release around the same time GT4 did. Right after christmas.

Not everyone with a PS3 has it connected to the internet. So those people would be screwed if the game had to rely on a patch to fix some critical flaw.

Big companies lie all the time, and what's worse, i have yet to see any real evidence of PD or Sony telling lies.

With a game as big and as long in development as GT5, yes there is.

http://www.esquire.co.uk/2010/11/exclusive-gran-turismo-5-preview/?

I just stumbled across this link of an interview with Caz, has it been seen before or is it New?

Its just photos for the full interview that will be released on thursday.

It has no juicy info on dates so don't get worked up. Although it does state "Gran Turismo 5 will go on sale next month on PlayStation 3" but this means nothing.
