@torontoml- Why did I bring up a discussable point about GT5 in the GT5 general discussion thread? Good question![]()
But this has been discussed to death many times before, just because it was the USA Today that makes it an entirely new thing?
It isn't Sunday yet.
I know the release date got pushed back, but what happened to the 'manufacturer agreements' we were promised?
on the genre defining aspect, i feel that this will lie in gt5 online mode, i think that perhaps they're aiming to mirror real life in terms of championships, well im not sure how to explain. perhaps all the races/tournaments you get in the gt mode will be available as online races as well? so you earn online trophies/wins. perhaps it will be extensive in terms of rankings ala call of duty, or like how you upgrade weapons. i.e win certain amount of races on the ring to earn a certain racing badge.
also i think its clear that racing clubs will have a big future. perhaps there be divisions as well? so you can get promoted/relegated - this could be a way of matcmaking
this is a big call as gt5p online mode, is well, just a few events. but games often are good at not revealing there online modes, well often tillt he game releases.
Sounds spot on to me, KY did say along time ago that because the way people play games has changed over the years, people have less time to dedicate to a particular game, which could possibly mean the end of GT mode? I hope not, but maybe a more plausable solution would be to have the online side integrated into GT mode, maybe bigger cash prizes for winning races online? Who knows, no one, come on Sony, pull your finger out..........., we aren't getting any younger you know !
GT5=possible 3D
Anyways, the TAS is basically almost over, and nothing new. Sweet

Both posts make a lot of sense. I've played through MW2 offline campaign once but have played many more hours of it online. I really hope the online aspect of GT5 is the main part of the game and includes player progression in a similar way to other great online games and is not just a load of single races. How amazing would it be for us all to be in a GTPlanet clan, have our own tournaments and avoid racing with a load of morons who crash into you if you make an overtake?
I certainly don't want to lose GT Mode or for it to be dumbed down but it would be great if it was integrated with the online side of the game.
Never really thought of it like that, I only played MW2 online, nere even started the campaign!
I can't say for sure if it would be the same with a racing game with the right online functionality, I still think I'd like the GT Mode to play through aside from whatever online modes there are.
PS, have you guy's seen the new pictures on the front page? Amazing !
You can't really compare MW2 and GT5.
In MW2, online is the main part of the game, it is the selling point, it's the reason to get the game. With GT series, it's GT mode. I haven't played GT online so I can't comment whether it's good or not but it's not a selling point for me. At least not from what I've experienced with forza 3 online.

Me- Thus, online racing. Racing AI will not cut it these days, just like shooting AI won't cut it. GT is not about GT mode anymore, it is about competing on a world class level, with world class drivers. Those that get left behind are missing out on something great. GT5P inspires me to no end, and that is because of one reason; Competition.
(I find it ironic dave says you can't compare GT to MWII, but he compares GT5 to Forza 3)
KY-The entire game design and you might be able to say the functionality of the game. I think it would be expressed better if you just say the entire game design.
USA Today-How are you doing this and is this to allow players to go deeper into the car driving experience?
KY- I think the background behind it is the advancements in technology.

There is no competition in gt5p online. The standard of driving is far far worse then the AIs.
GT5What's ironic about it? Both are driving games with online components. Forza online racing is so bad, idiots ramming you off the road to win, that people only use online to sell livery and tunes. I haven't played gt5p so don't know how it works. Hence my previous comment.
GT5is just as bad. We have numerous threads here complaining about these idiots.
