Hm, found the sense of speed in GT5:P better, when you use the Art Morrison Corvette, tuned Clio or the F1 () in London, it feels pretty awesome. What kind of TV do you have?

man the AI didn't give him much mercy when he spun out....

Great video, but why the hell is the a.i still ramming into your car?

Well yeah it feels slow to me :scared:... I don't know why. But when I think of going on the Autobahn at 200 km/h on the fast lane it feels way faster to me... Even if there is nothing really around me... Well probably just ma imagination. I own a LG Full HD 32"

The Nurb isn't very wide. If your car is sitting in the middle of the road you're bound to get hit by a few cars.

The guy wasn't giving them much room either. Can't always blame the AI for the players mistakes.

It certainly looks different to the GT4 version, or maybe I didn't notice some of the scenery in the GT4 version :)
That building on the side of the road looks new to me, as is the dirt areas.

Load times are impressively short!

BTW video description reads TAS 2009, it should be 2010

You're right, but it'd be great having a difficulty/agressivity setting for the AI since some of us still make mistakes unintentionally . Is damage disabled in this CES/TAS demo?

I race the AI the way I race people online. If I know I can't pass cleanly, I don't pass. When you see people in videos try to out brake the AI and squeeze in there to pass, then wipe out, it's their fault. I've found more success passing the AI in Prologue by going around them on the outside. They tend to recognize your presence a bit better that way.

That may be true, but in Nascar with the A.I driving like this the results would be catastrophic. I'd hate to have to 5 car pile ups every few laps. Does anyone one know whether bots will be online too?

No you can't but in this case it's just poor programming. AI always stick to the driving line, if you get in the way they don't go around, they proceed right through you.

In GT PSP you can use AI for online, hopefully that will be so in the GT5 proper. Having AI fill out the grid will rock

Even the AI in Prologue doesn't stick to the racing line or at the very least do exhibit more variations compared to GT4 (although that may not sound like much of a compliment). The AI cars are still subjected to the same physics and you shouldn't expect the car to have braking and steering performance exceeding that of the actual vehicle. AI is just as the name suggests, not Awesome Intelligence or Awesomely Instinctual :) You as a driver still have to expect a human like response from the AI.

They do stop for you in GT5:P sometimes :)
You just have to give them enough time to react just like a human would.

Well since none of us have played the final version of the came, how would we know?

from what we've seen in a few of the videos and when the situation came up, the AI stayed on the same path and hit whatever was int he way.

GT5 Videos on the previous page (222) were incredible. That one of the GT-R Spec-V was incredible. The car appears to move in a very realistic manner especially when it spins out. Incredible! And even watching the video you can tell there's an even better sense of speed than that of previous GT's or even Prologue. Got me even more excited about the full version now. :)

I was feeling like 🤬 before I watched that, But I'm feeling a lot happier now.

well, the guy was driving with Standard physics, AT and S2 tyres. :) Although the TCS and ASM were switched OFF, it looks like the car is pretty easy to drive with STD physics.

^^^ That's a good example. I ran an arcade race the other night on Suzuka, and spun out in front of a few cars. Did a complete 360 and kept going. Not one of them hit me. 👍

That brings up a question: If he is using an AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION then why in the world would the hand animation be shifting at all? I thought I saw him choose AT but was waiting for someone else to verify. I will be sticking with bumper cam since they can't even get that much right after 5+ years of developement.

In most video games the car is always in manual, however the game shifts for you if you have it on Auto.

Very unrealistic. That just ruined in car cam for me! I will just laugh my butt off at the next person that says that in car is the most realistic view to use.

because automatic transmission in GT means the game shifts for you.

Unrealistic yes, but it saves developers a lot of time since they don't have to model 2 separate animations for manual and automatic.

Wait, so if you select AT for the, say, Ford GT, the hands should always stay on the steering wheel because that's more realistic?

Wow, you people are so....Just wow.

I think they're just saying for those AT cars, those which are without Manual Transmission. ;)

With the AT the game changes for you but the car still has a manual transmission, it's not that the car gets an automatic transmission, so the animation of changing must be mantained.

So you're playing with automatic transmission? Very realistic indeed :sly:

Exactly, AT in Gran Turismo means Gran Turismo will shift for you, not the car is a automatic or in automatic mode.

It wouldn't make sense to switch to a automatic car as one, many cars never came in automatic (Mclaren F1, Ford GT, XJ220 etc), two, you bought the car and it just wouldn't be right to switch cars, and three, that would mean PD would have to take photos and samples of all cars in automatic and manual form.

BTW very nice Nurb video, I like how the grass seems to have been gone over, some parts are brown and patchy, rather than all green. Also nice to see with Standard physics the car behaves quite realistic but still allows everyone (Casual players etc) to have a good show without spinning around in circles all the time.

Starving for some news at this point. News News News and interesting news at that.
