From that view, the reflection is indeed wrong. But for the purposes of gameplay, it's fine. It's one of the few things they've purposely tried not to 'simulate'. The mirror never actually 'reflects' anything, rather it's just an output frame that displays another view.

The mirror is a vast improvement from prologue where they were like images created on paint. Though it's not like the mirrors in the replays matter You only need watch them while you are driving. Though i am sure PD have noted the problem and that it will be almost certainly fixed for GT6.

^^ Agreed, the rearview mirror behaves exactly as a screen in GT5, the real rearview mirror by the way, can only be used if you're sitting on the driver's spot (that's why you adjust it in a real car.... ), but the in-car camera is centrally positioned so there's no how it can display a useable view when watching from this position. They may fix it for GT6, but this is a "big" problem exactly as "unrealistic trees"......so you don't need to worry about it.

We can be sure of one thing though, if the Gumpert Apollo makes it into the game, at least this problem won't affect that car, because the rear view mirror is a screen

What I think is amazing is that you can clearly and vividly see Mt. Fuji in GT5, where it is vaguely visible at that time of day IRL.

[BAD JOKE] No it doesn't. The image is terrible. GT (Left) has awful lighting. Real Life (Right) has a much sharp image, looks clearer (you can see the dashboard and the rearview mirror).[/BAD JOKE]

Again wrong. If that was the case then the option would say auto shift not automatic transmission. The game gives the option for an automatic transmission. It does not say "we will just shift for you" now does it?

AT/MT is what people recognise right away and is a very compact way of listing the option. Rather than as you say

"Auto shift - we will shift for you"

and

"Manual shift - you do the shifting but we will still control the clutch, unless you have a clutch supported wheel and press triangle!"


MT and AT will do just fine.

I dropped this arguement hours ago because even a mod came on and posted his false thoughts and I suppose that if they say it then it is like the word of God or something. I know that in GT2-3- and 4 that if you used a controller that you could hold (which button I don't remember) and the car would not shift until you let go of it, letting you get the most out of every gear. That said GT has always had the option of AT,AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION(not auto shift) and MT,manual transmission. I really don't care what all these people here say because it is obvious they are dillusional and aren't as knoledgable as I first thought they were. Nobody here is going to convince me that AT in the game means that the game just shifts your gears for you. So lets all just drop the subject because at this stage it is just pointless.

You're the only one complaining about the exact meaning of two letters when the function in game is obvious and you're calling all of us dillusional and not so "knoledgable" (knowledgeable) ...... nice going.

Nobody is making crap up, it's a fact that most games do it this way. If you don't want to acknowledge it than prepared to be disappointed.

I play with MT but the vid is in AT and the animation is wrong, that is all I was saying.

The animation isn't wrong. Every car in the game is set up to be in the most race-ready mode. In this case, the Spec-V is in the mode where you shift with the paddles, not it's basic city-cruise-mode.

Your argument is just full of holes. If choosing AT means the car shouldn't show shifting animations, how do you expect the Ford GT to work? Or the Ferrari Enzo?

Jay is correct. The game shifts for you when you select AT. The game will tell the driver animation when to have his hand shift the gear level or hit the paddles. MT leaves it up to you when the driver's hand animation is to shift.

For all of you to try to explain why the animation is correct is just comical.

I was watching that 458 Italia video last night. You noticed theres a new track in it? it shows some track that appears to be in the desert somewhere. I thought initially maybe it was Willow Springs but theres no trees at Willow Springs. So then I thought maybe its a newer version of Red Rock valley perhaps.

It's a track based in Tuscany, Italy and it's not a desert.

It's pretty clear that:
MT = Manual Transmission.
AT = Automatic Transmission.

Cars have a transmission, people and polygon-based avatar people don't.

If a car's transmission is automatic, you wouldn't see a person shift gear - unless it's to move to R / D, etc (a-ha!!). The whole point here is that GT doesn't support an AT configuration in cars that have both AT + MT. Fine, if you select AT the game does the manual shift - automatically - for you. The question however, is what to do when an AT-only car is featured in GT.

The game should have the 2 modes listed as:
Manual = Manual Shift.
Auto = Automatic Shift.

When you buy a car, you could be given an option to buy the MT version or the AT version - if there is one. If the car only comes in MT or AT, then that's that! The two types of car for AT / MT should have different performance statistics dependent on the configuration.

All of this said, it's remarkable that you lot are arguing over this. It is what it is and frankly Polyphony Digital don't prioritize the purchase of AT cars, so just forget it. Should PD change the text to Manual / Auto instead of MT / AT? Yes, probably, but how is it such a big deal that you've wasted 10 minutes of MY time reading through YOUR arguments in a LATEST NEWS thread?

I personally couldn't give a stuff whether it says AT / MT or Auto / Manual. The intended meaning is obvious.

Unless AT + MT is included in addition to manual / auto shifting, or trees are improved or skid marks are implemented, then I suggest no more talk about those things here.
