Man, you leave GT Planet for a day...

Just caught up and hoping for good news around the corner. :)

That would be sweet and I have thought this may be the case for the last several days but afraid to get my hopes up.

I feel the same way. When he told me that it was still scheduled I said "really?" to the employee a few times and he chuckled and said yes that's the latest news we've heard. The store also had a GT5 preview cycling on many of the TVs showcased. Unfortunately no demo though.

After leaving the store I was and still am in disbelief. I'd do just about anything to have the game before my only real break (Thanksgiving) in the semester, but who knows if that's plausible at all. Fingers crossed, but that's all I can do... Why must they toy with emotions?

I've never hyped a game so much before. Hopefully the hype doesn't surpass the enjoyment once I finally have the dang thing.

This game doesn't need to be advertised or announced its going to sell loads no matter what

PUHLEEZE! Nintendo??? Nintendo isn't EVEN Sony. Each Gaming Platform developer has their own methods and marketing techniques that separate them from each other.

You do know that Nintendo had hired Sony to help develop the N64, right? The only reason why the Playstation even exists is because Nintendo wanted cartridges and Sony wanted CDs.

@Allstar. Please tell me the different marketing techniques between nintendo and Sony.
I'm not to sure.

Thanks.

Well Jordan has just logged on, so he might have something for us sooner then before ;)

What it ultimately comes down to is the distributors. Games and movies need to be prepared for sale and they like to do this with every title that will be releasing on the same day. In fact I think release dates have nothing to do at all with developers.

Yes, Ironic, "A Day that will live in Infamy". Whoever posted that Tuesday was the 9th didn't read my post. We're talking about TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2010. :dunce: Oh, wait:

@keyz13 And just another point....the 9th of November is ridiculous.....Sony and PD have not even given a release date and you expect it to be here in 4 freakin' days??? Sorry, but I need some of what you're smokin'! It doesn't even give Sony time to drop any advertising on us.

It's not a matter of what I'm smoking. I don't smoke. I said it was hard to believe and I didn't know what it meant, if anything. I just thought I'd share what some random Sony Style employee told me. That's all.

GT5 will release on a Tuesday in N/A, IMO. It has always released on a Tuesday, so why vary from the norm?. The Japanese are a very suspicious lot and will more than likely release GT5 on a Tuesday. My Guess is the 30th of November, or the 7th of December. Either way, I think it'll be out before Christmas. But then that's just MPO. ;)

You might want to edit this to meet the AUP.

Who isn't suspicious? This whole thread is filled with people sharing their suspicions and those not trusting/questioning most info posted.

Judging by what you've just said, I hope it comes out by Thanksgiving too, but there has to be some "lead time" to advertise and distribue the discs to the distributors and then to the stores.

I would think (by all that we've seen from PD and Sony) that even the most avid fan will be shocked and awed by the game. :)

Thanks, the word was supposed to be "Superstitious", not Suspicious.

Fix'd

Hows this for an idea ! Sony release gt5 without a big fanfare tv ad campaign instead they let the shops and mag features do it for them, and then run the tv ads on or after the date the game has gone public. Just an idea

Haven't all the GT game ads been aired AFTER the game was released in the past...with the exception of GT1.

You may have hit the nail on the head ;) But it still leaves the global distribution to the game stores and Gaming websites....and that takes time for us to get it in our hands.

Don't know what you guys are expecting off Jordan. Sony's not said anything about stolen discs or release dates.
I doubt Jordan will tell you anything you Don't already know.

Hope I'm wrong.

You guys remember when the PS3 slim was announced right? There was a shroud of secrecy and the rumor mill had been running at full bore. In a matter of a couple of hours after the "official" 'announcement, major gaming media bloggers, magazines, and television had their hands on it and were posting their thoughts, unboxings, etc. I wouldn't put it past Sony to have GT5 on shelves by this Tuesday. BO and GT5 have nothing to do with each other except guaranteeing GT5 will be sold at midnight at every store selling BO at midnight. I would like to see GT5 take on NFS:HP3 the following Tuesday.

We'll find out shortly.

Hmmm tuesday the 9th, the more I think about it, the more it's possible I guess! All the ads are made and shops stocked in the last couple of weeks.... Could be a big campaign on release as opposed to before!

This difference with the slim was they were still selling the existing product (fat) and didn't want those to stop selling because the public knew a new model was coming out. They need reviews in all media and adverts on TV and in the press to push GT5 so I don't think they'll announce it's on shelves now(ish) as they need more build up to maximise sales, I hope I'm wrong though!

kinda like above. remember at E3 when MS announced there new Xbox it was released and Advertise that same week. So it is possible

Finland has a digi expo, GT5 is demonstrated without a time limit. Nothing new.

I wouldn't bet on a release this early. However, if it is to happen as a surprise, you would know it the day before as retailers ship it.
