Sony dismisses latest GT5 release rumours - Computer and Video Games

Tuesday 9-Nov-2010 10:35 PM "We have not made any official announcements," says SCEA rep

SCEA has dismissed the latest in a line of reports that Gran Turismo 5 will be out later this month.

An Italian website reported a November 27 release for the racer in Europe, and November 30 for US. The Nov 27 date also cropped up earlier on an 'IGN UK' Twitter feed that turned out to be fake.

It all sounded like hot air to us, but we spoke to Sony anyway and it seems there's no official grounding to these reports.

An SCEA rep has told CVG: "Unfortunately we can't comment on this as it is a European page and we don't know where this information is coming from. We have not made any official announcements on launch timing yet."

Images of GT5 in the wild surfaced yesterday, along with a Trophy list.

The game's (rather odd) intro video has also made its way onto the internet. Check it out.

I can't post topic yet, and here seems like the right place...

Yep, me. I think this is a new way of marketing a game.

We get NOTHING really exciting by those "leaked" videos. Pffft...

Hhhhhmmmmmm .... Does anyone else think this could be the case? Im not sure myself, I mean I can see it would be great for free publicity, but you can confidently say its a marketing ploy just because we havent found out a million new features?

From video, path of driving...

Looks like this could be the new Vmax track, it did look like a point to point track at first as it you couldn't clearly see the turns at each end.

you should read the thread before posting

There is no 900º steering.
That sucks, really. Maybe it was hard getting it do look good, but why not give us the option to remove the animated driver from cockpit view then? Like in iRacing, rFactor, LFS, NR2003 and netKar Pro. That way they could make 1:1 steering without worrying about the driver animations.

Of course, I can live with the 180º steering, but it will be a little annoying at some points.

I love the fact we get over 14 miles of motorway!

You're on the boat that Sony leaked on purpose too?

Im not sure what to think, i know that this guy has leaked videos of other games, but it's like he's holding back on the details. Maybe he just doesn't want to spoil it for everyone.

Sorry, no 900º animation.

Well the driver is pretty woven in with the cockpit, in replays and other cars. So I guess they really had to leave it in.

Most of us have all of this memorized already.

or he doesnt care about other people (might be normal for people, who receinig games on a very suspicous way) and poor play3man is begging for every little news....

btw thanks play3man for keeping us up-to-date

Sorry, thought GTP's News page hasn't got this one, may I ask why?
I said just earlier, but it's not really news. It just says that Sony said they haven't released a release date. Which of course we all know.

Because the News page is for news, and the fact that they haven't released an "official announcements on launch timing yet" isn't news or even new.

Yes, because these people own the game now for more than 2 days already and still they TELL us nothing. And also their vids are bad quality.

None of them writes anything about the features. There wouldnt be need to post videos on youtube. They are even not in contact with us.

Thats all fake, imho.

Its not newsworthy - a simple search for "gran turismo 5" in Google under the news section would yield this article. In addition, as Jordan did not take any spectulative position on a release date, and this article simply confirms with what the forum has already known.

Maybe lurk a bit more...? There is a whole thread centered on the release date, with the initial heading in bold red stating "Holiday 2010" release.

Fair enough... :D

Do they need to do this by law?
maybe there are selfish....?!

btw if this would be fake (some weird way of promotion) i dont think they would allow to show a middle finger in the video.... (game might get a higher rating PG or something like this :) )

Personally, I could care less. As long as we are being shown new content, I am ok. Also, if it is a marketing ploy, then this means it is ramping up. Both are good things in my opinion. And at the same time, not everyone gets spoiled on the game. It kind of makes sense and works out.

Oh, and why so negative all the time?
