GT5 Demo in the UK!

I went out to buy an umbrella and something caught my eye. In the Southampton, West Quay Shopping Centre, Sony have set up a Move game area. I was up a floor looking over the balcony checking it out and I saw a GT5 pod!

I went down and had a go, there was a bit of a queue so I just did a 3 lap race of Rome (came 2nd) using a six axis and in 3D. The sound was pretty loud so I can confirm the engines do sound miles better.

It was a Demo build (you can tell me which one), 2 cars to choose from, an Audi R8 and the Citroën C4 WRC ‘08. Tracks were: Rome, Toscana, Circuito de Madrid, Tokyo R246 and Nürburgring Nordschleife. There was a 10min time limit.

They said it was their last day in Southampton so I asked them where they were going next and they said the Manchester Arndale. I didn't ask when but I'm guessing it will be over this coming week/next weekend. So if you live in or near Manchester, get down there! They also said they would be in London after Manchester.

So I'm rather happy with myself today, there aren't many people in the UK who've had a chance to give the demo a go. I know the game is very close but better late than never!

Awesome, thanks dude. If I can find out when and where they'll be in London I'll try and get over there with a camcorder.

I assume we have, but have we covered there apparently not being an option for standard and Pro physics anymore?

It's worrying if that is true because the presence of standard for the casual players and mass appeal of the game is what actually allowed PD to develop the pro for those of us who want realism and difficulty.

If they've only left one physics option in then I hope it's pure pro physics as any amalgamation with standard would be terrible for everyone (hardcore players and casuals)

Somebody please, make a thread about this. I can live with all the drawbacks GT5 has, because I know that I just loved to drive the pro physics in the TT demo, so lesser cars/tracks doesn't matter to me. This though, could break the game for me. Gran Turismo is no longer a driving simulator, just another arcade racer for the masses?

There is a new slider instead of a toggle, skid assist force or something. It's likely that will do the same job as pro physics when it's disabled.

The game has always been for the masses, that's why it sells so well. Pro physics was a new setting in GT5 prologue.

What the drivers didn't went into strike?? :sly::sly:

Does a French can tell me if France is still in strike (grève) or not, and if Postal services are hit by it??

I hope not as my SE comes from France

Postal services are fine. Some strike day still planned, but nothing to fear in your case.

Hello!

I have a question, sorry if it has been posted before.

If I want to play at my friend place with my game and my progression, what do I need to do? We had memory card for that before, do you think we can use our save on another PS3?

In the leaked videos I've seen screen references to "Portable Garage". I assume this would be in combination with a USB stick.

Somebody said their is a boatload of new videos coming from Czech Republic? I'm not seeing anything "new" in my search. Other than the few from earlier this evening. If you see new videos, would you mind posting a link to your search results please?

I'm pretty sure you (and everyone else) are aware of Tekken90, but I'll post the link in case someone missed his growing list of Czech, mate! videos.

NA
I just had a vision of a bunch of stop animation elves from the old holiday TV specials, making new cars with wooden mallets .......

Given the last two GT 5 television ads, it sounds like you just described their next, higher tech, one.

I find it hard to believe they yanked it...after all it was/is an option in GT5:P.

Wow! look at all those cars!! I thought the red GTR hit someone for a start, had to watch it again to realise they were doing a pit stop or something.

Yes they do. So funny too see that, i dont know how Sony do for have police autorisation for do it in Place de l'étoile. :scared::drool:

So fun.

Can anyone confirm for me that there will be drifting events in GT5?

There's certainly a drift trial because there's a trophy for getting a certain score in one.

I hope they aren't in the main game though as that would be a terrible bore for those of us that don't drift at all. (surely I'm not the only one?)

Use your head. The BB demo had options for standard and pro so I highly doubt they took that option out.

Thank you GT5Canuk. The portable garage is something I'm looking for. I'm not a huge fan of online mode, I'd rather play with friends in the living room. Though if the online looks promising, I'll get on it.

For the signature edition, it looks big so I'll get it delivered at work.

It will have full support and button reassignment. Now there should be a g25/g27 wheel setup.

You don't know that for sure because in the video there was not a option in Prologue and you can not assign all the buttons on the wheel.

Why would they not support the newest Logitech wheel that actually came out last year. PD had more than a year to make it compatible.

Uh evidently they forgot because it's not in the menu.

Next.

If sales and the amount of units sold of previous GTs are anything to go by, it has always been for the masses, butit has never been an arcade racer, thats just stretching it too far

To the people who actually believe something as absurd as there will be no simulation / pro physics based off one leaked video of one menu, how old are you, 12-14?

+1... trying to do dozen of stuff to make the time fly...

But its hard with all those news...

i try avoid looking at anything now, its full of people whining about everything
"omg tis gaem suckz, cancelled ma pre - oreder ima so disapionteded".

I am personally looking foward to it unlike some people on this forum.

yea it definately is a downer the negative people, did you see those pics by RDK, i mean tell me where in the world any game developer even has come close to those graphics, and detail. never enough for some, i am satisfied to the fullest, imagine it on a 1080P HD 46inch with surround sound, well im pumped, nothing gonna get me down.

Do yous think PD are holding loads of things back in the game and when release day comes there will be a patch that will unlock everything so to speak? Maybe they were allowing for leaked copies.

im happy with the way the standard cars look so far, the premiums just are a bonus to me. (i know this is not the case with some most people)

That would mean people that dont have their ps3 connected to the internet wouldnt have a full version they paid for so the answer is no.

Technically they could have hardcoded in some sort of timer lock. When they program it they could set a lock on the disc that doesn't open content until the PS3 thinks it is the 23rd or something.

You could bypass this by changing the time on your console, which is simple, but you would have to know that the timer was there and that you needed to change the time.

It could also be done with a code. On release day they send out a single code all over the internet that you put in to unlock the rest of the time, like DLC, but doesn't require an internet connection. You could call your friend who has the internet and have him tell you the code and you could put it in.

I highly doubt they did any of this, but it's certainly possible.
