Thanks! And yes it would never be able to replace a wheel but for those who don't have the space / money for one I believe it would play way better than a regular controller.

It would definitely be a good option for anyone in that situation. What would you do differently with the triggers? Make them stiffer?

You should seriously propose your idea to Sony or PD man. Or even a third-party accessory maker.

Actually Top Gear has proven that cars are faster on a number of occasions.

Raced a Aston martin DB9 against eurostar passenger train. Car won
Raced a Nissan GTR against the 200mph bullit trains. Car won
Raced a Jaguar against a Peppercorn Steam train. Car won
raced a bugatti against a plane AND the eurostar train. Car won

Is that so. I know the ratings and boxart are usually different, but comparing ALL of my game cases to the one in the video, I'd have to say they are two different case designs. Though I guess I could be stretching it a bit.
 
Sony is so STUPID for doing this the say before Thanksgiving! What the frack were they thinking? Either I'll be up all bight from a midnight release. Or I'll be up all night because I couldn't sleep and be at the store first thing.

I have to buy food. I have to prep food and crap the day before! Love me some BBQ'd turkey breast.

Either that or we're eating Subway turkey sandwiches!!!

I whipped up a concept for my ideal GT5 controller that's not a full steering wheel setup. The HKS controller looks alright but I believe this would work way better. What do you guys think?

Not bad.

I think HKS controller got the steering right, but you got the gas/brake right. As for the shifter, I don't think a H-pattern is ideal, but a sequential (strictly up and down) would be great. Also replace the left analog stick with the quick dial wheel from the DFGT.

Yeah, I'm glad I'm going to my sister's for Thanksgiving. And the reasoning is have it out by Black Friday. Putting it out the day before Thanksgiving should decrease the traffic in the stores, and give all the pre-order holders time to get their games before the masses flood the stores to get their non-pre-orders.
 
Wifey Pooh doesn't like the idea of turkey subs from Subway ;). I think I'll start the turkey brine on Tuesday.

She says Thanksgiving is for family. True. But we aren't gonna sit around the living room all day! Just thought of this: if I can't play GT5 on Thanksgiving Day, no FaceBook for her!!!

If my wife was going to be at home she would want to know why I would want to play a video game instead of lets say watching football. Sorry honey but GT is a hell of alot more important than football. Give me some beer after a full belly of ham and turkey and I will be tearing the Ring all to hell. :)

It usually consists loads of Food I don't like, which there is usually too much of and becomes leftovers because not all of it has been consumed and then a visit over to someone's house for more food I don't like, which also becomes leftovers (you see a pattern here?). I'll just take Turkey, some corn(but it has to be Cream corn or on the cob, not that sweet stuff :yuck: ) and Dr Pepper thank you, all that I need before its just me and GT5 :)
 
Looks like most of us if not all are going to ditch football this year and just play GT5.

Man...how I wish I can get a decent Thanksgiving dinner these days, even though Thanksgiving already passed in Canada. It's mighty lonely when none of your relatives live in the country and you haven't seen them for 10 years. It's even worse this year as it's just me and my dad in Canada while my mom and brother are in Asia for a long time. Can't even imagine about Christmas and New Years.

On the bright side, at least my dad is cool with GT5 and wouldn't mind hearing engine sounds in the middle of the night. :sly:

because we are getting the game tuesday night, come on do u think they are waiting till weds the stores, hell no. Tuesday night most will have the game, games never get released on Weds. nor do movies get released on Saturdays. never gonna happen, Tuesday it is. Or the mom and pop shops would make a killing if the big stores dont call us all on Tuesday evening.

Whether you like it or not midnight on Tuesday is Wednesday. Here in the US we do usually get stuff on Tuesday. Wednesday threw me for a loop. But what can we do.

I was actually kind of disappointed with the HKS steering solution. It doesn't appear to offer much more precision compared to the regular analog stick. IMHO the 'jog dial' solution with the same degrees of rotation as a full on wheel would allow for much smoother steering.

But then again, I could be wrong. I might get one once they're out to try it out.

I'm not really an electronics wiz but I think it would be interesting to build a prototype, at least for the steering part. The shifter will be pretty hard to do in DIY form probably.

Yeah, but only GT3 and 4 were released on a Tuesday. And, if GT6 were to come out on a Friday, then we'd have a set. :P

Crikey. I'm cooking for Thanksgiving. Just my luck... something's going to get the crap burned out of it because of GT5. Oh well.

the rally vid is new to me, looks like a nice flowing track. I still don't like the idea of having multiple cars on a rally track though, I'll stick to the point to point races ;)

The top one is a fan made video, the bottom one is a couple of days old.
 
From the info jalopnik posted, I believe the W trail is the shortest of the Eigar rally courses. sucks to see their circuits. I was hoping for a point to point race.
