I´m afraid to say it, but if one iconic Suzuki deserves to be premium, it´s the Escudo Pikes Peak.

Awesome interior:dopey:

That's not what I meant to say as the Escudo is an entirely different category.

Is that the only 'Pikes Peak' style car in the game? No

I don't think it's all a question of PD knowing exactly what they're doing either or there being a reason other than time-constraints as to why certain cars are just Standard.
Looking at some of the cars included as Premium (or included as Premium in Prologue, Suzuki Cervo comes to mind) I have a sneaking suspicion they maybe miscalculated the time it took and maybe hadn't made the same choices on including certain cars as Premium if they knew beforehand they could only do around 220 before time run out.
I remember an interview with Kaz a couple of years back where he said that to make all cars Premium they couldn't release GT5 before 2010 and nobody would want that.....
I think the initial goal was to include far more Premium cars and they just started modelling 'somewhere' instead of handpicking a selection they would definitely want as a balanced representation or dead cert GT-classics when perhaps they knew they would end up with roughly around 200 Premium cars.
The final selection does include plenty of true gems, it's just that some inclusions or some exclusions suggests to me it didn't all go to plan (or at least not showing the logic I expected from PD).

You think maybe at some point the car modeling perhaps was rushed after said realization?

Some retailers receive the game saturday!!
Here we go guys

still "can't" sell it 'til the 24th tho'...

I sure hope, the remaining days 'til release pass quickly;)

Finally a working active spoiler/air-brake. It'll make following a Veryon or watching a replay with the Bugatti a bit more believable. Much to my dismay the version in SHIFT and Forza 3 did not have a rising rear spoiler on the Bugatti (as well the Audi R8 and TT, McLaren SLR and a slew of other cars with active spoilers).

Dam! I was fooled by the car list!!! Audi Pikes Peak Quattro!!!!! lol!

audi-pikes-peak-quattro.jpg

just crippled my dream... and something else :(

at least we still have the standard quattro which should be fun to tune :)

That's not what he said!!!
3 days!!

that's why I put the "can't" inside quotes ;)

every retailer that has the game CAN sell it, even though they're not supossed to...

edit:

I hope to recieve my copy early as well :)

Knowing GAME, I should be playing GT5 in 6 days!

I pre-ordered GT5 at the same retailer I pre-ordered black ops, so I know I will be getting it day 1 ;)

When has a publisher actually fined retailers for breaking street date?

Short video from SEMA on the US PlayStation blog: Link

First ad for GT5 probably tomorrow morning as stated in the comments to the video.

I don't think they give them a fine, I think they stop giving them the games in time for day 1.

but that's just a wild guess of mine...

The opposite in fact, it suggests (to me, wish to point that out again) they initially started modelling all sorts of cars confident they could build a large number meaning the initial selection wasn't that important as the total number of Premium cars would eventually be bigger.
Now that the selection is smaller than initially planned (again an assumption or hypothetical possibility) the cars modelled first (for example the Cervo I mentioned but there are a few others as well) stand out as an odd choice whilst when the selection was much larger (say about 400) they would just be another model, not part of the small core of Premium cars.
Maybe after this realization they had to take a different approach filling in the gaps to make it seem like a coherent line-up, not rushed but a change of strategy perhaps.

I mean if you introduced a new way of modelling whereby the results can be used in future games as well I would make a carefully chosen list of cars to include at least in the first game which features them, a base from which to continue.
Making sure the first cars finished are futureproof themselves, are 'proven' to be appreciated by your fanbase or new additions to the series which are somehow logical (again the first cars to model, not the final list).
Kaz is a petrolhead himself, it's not that he doesn't have a clue what will be appreciated and what not which makes some cars odd to include first if it were planned this way.
This isn't about what cars the majority of casual gamers would like to see by the way but within the context of the cars historically featured in GT-games before.

We were already told the first ads would be on speedtv tommorow.

Ahh forgot about the Speed ads. But chances are the ads on PS Blog will be up and running before their are aired on tv. And not every might have Speed on their TV.

I haven't checked the car list and extracted those who are premium, but are there really that many odd choices in there? I mean, I think 220 premiums is a reasonable amount of cars.

they could have skipped the standards all together & the car list would have been fine. they're just a nice bonus.

gt6 will probably have at least twice as many premiums, or only premiums...

I'm satisfied either way...

Forgive if this has already been done, but I just did some number counting and found something that further leaves me doubting the official list. I counted the list, variations included, and there are 74. However when I watch the video with the track list from practice and counted (Variations included), that actually has 77, which outnumbers the "Official" list. Make of it what you will, but my suspicion has just went up a few notches.

I believe the fine is about $1200 per game, according to GameStop.

I did not know that, that's a lot of money!

it's about half my paycheck.... (monthly)

edit: just realized that not everybody is paid by the month....

Still makes a difference, when you are still here browsing GTP trying to get gameplay, I'll be playing the full game.

I'm guessing this only works when you order online?

I pre ordered from game, but I'm collecting at the shop.
