yup. this. kaz has made refrence to the 50 gb size, which is a dual layered BR disc. i know sony where optimisizng, or trying to get larger disks, but i never knew that they are out already? or at a stage for some sort of use.

Just because a game fills up a Blu-ray disc doesn't necessarily mean it's out of space, because many games on Blu-ray don't bother with compression like they did on DVD, simply because they've got 50GB to use anyway and uncompressing files uses CPU and takes time. If they were desperate they'd just start compressing stuff and free up a ton of space.

I really want to know the size of GT5. I live in Brazil, so my copy will take at least one mounth to be in my hands... =/

The guys who take it first, please, let us know the size of it.

That's not to say that there will definitely not be patches, updates and DLC. That's just saying that the game is complete as-is, and that they aren't going to purposely hold content back that could've shipped on the disc just so they can sell it as DLC.

Unlike some *cough*CAPCOM*cough* other publishers.

Is there a minimum amount of required free disc space on the PS3 for GT5? Or recommended minimum?

I've had mine for a while and I almost certainly skimped on the HDD. I might need to revisit that before next week...

Kaz mentioned/recommended 10gb a while ago.

10gb minimum, but I would double that just in case there is extra content.

@iAMgt5 & Steph290 - Cheers, I think I should be OK with that!

Is there an official in store price in Australia? When i put a deposit down half a year ago the chick said $88 but that sounds a little cheap for the best game known to man kind lol. Even CODmw2 is still fetching $99

I'm getting SE from Harvey Norman for $77. From memory GT is usually cheap when it finally get's released.

Also for Australians:

Those without a PS3 might want to check out the Harvey Norman website.

Preorder 320Gb PS3 + GT5 for $487.

I'm pretty sure its an error (and should be the 160Gb) but I'm going to try and capitalize on it this evening after work.

It's real and it's mine. Deal done this lunch time. Walked out the store with my 320GB PS3 and collect GT5 next Thursday. $487, thank you and goodnight...

Has anybody ever ordered a game from Amazon and had it shipped AND delivered before the release date?...Just wondering. The wait is killing me.

I thought it was 10GB maximum.

My mistake, 10gb maximum. Thanks for the correction. The question was asked for minimum and still 'minimum' sounds safer. Cause, "Hey, you never know!"

No. I've preordered about 10 games from Amazon with release date delivery. Never gotten one early.

so I was wondering if anybody knows of the stores in Brisbane Australia that will have a midnight launch of gt5. Of the few shops around me in browns plains, no. all opening at 9am.

EB games, Game traders, JBhiFi, none of them

Why is JB opening at 10pm and not midnight? Are they allowed? If they can sell it at 10pm on the 24th,whats stopping them from sellin it at 4 pm on the 24th then? If JB is opening at 10pm why can`t EB or Harvey Norman?

Wait... Hobart and Adelaide have a midnight event, and Perth/Brisbane do not?

...Hobart? :odd:

I think it's because everyone knows tasmanians have 2 heads.
so 2 x heads x 2 games = more sales... I understand completely ;)

My favorite Gran Turismo song ever! Too bad they changed the style in GT5 :indiff:

That is totally kick tail... I remember those days, trying my best with the original controller, taking forever to get to the max percentage possible.. I think of this everytime I drive my S2000 because I kicked so much butt in the game that I had to have one in real life. Thx for the memories..

Surely somewhere in Brissy is doing a midnight openning though, you may just have to drive a bit.

However here in Darwin due to lack of pre-orders (apparently due to the delays) the local EB isnt doing a midnight launch, but may open a little early on the Friday.
I have to find out if the JB-HiFi at Casuarina is going to as that where I have my pre-order.
Im on night-shift that night and while I may be able to sneak away for an hour to get it, I may just wait till the morning anyway. :indiff:

hello everyone. according to IGN there is going to be a GT5 promotion going on in San Francisco that looks like a lot of fun but sadly i live to far to go :nervous: but oh well this is for those who can go and tell us about it.

"AskMen.com and Gran Turismo 5 are partnering up for the Race Through the Bay challenge. Sign up your two-person team today to spend an afternoon in San Francisco navigating to various check points in the city, completing Gran Turismo 5 inspired challenges and racing towards the finish line. You'll also be one of the first people to play Gran Turismo 5 before it releases. You may even have the chance to meet GT5 Creator Kazunori Yamauchi."

Damn, you gotta be 21 to enter. If I was, I'd be all over that challenge.

You're welcome. :)

In other news:
http://n4g.com/news/648048/jeff-gordon-talks-gran-turismo-5

Jeff Gordon talks about NASCAR in GT5 with some footage of his voice over session for the Jeff Gordon Challenge series.

after watching that I read this http://auto.howstuffworks.com/auto-racing/nascar/nascar-basics/nascar-drafting.htm and never realized that nascars use such complex methods to draft. I hope they can properly recreate this very technical aspect of the sport in the game.

Speaking of NASCAR: One thing that would be really stupid in real life, that I actually want to try: NASCAR on Nurburgring at night...Remember: NASCARs don't have working headlights.

Could someone please post that n4g Jeff Gordon video on YouTube?
