This right here... ^ Forget that crap! Give me more tracks and cars... not some over developed BS world to explore

Yamauchi wanted to implement a free roam gameplay mode in GT5, where players could drive around, respecting speed limits and obeying traffic laws, and even exit the car to walk around and explore the environment on foot.
That is so epic win

careful man, I had a thread locked and threatened with bans for talking such things.
Is there a way to transfer cars from Prologue to GT5? I thought I saw something about transfering cars but only being able to use them in arcade mode.

I have to disagree there mate on a few points.
Firstly, I think it's a good review and hits on all the major points.
Ok, i don't thnk he is an arcade racer cause he mentions iRacing, netKar and rfactor for a physics comparison , saying that GT is good but not that good, so he obviously knows what he's talking about cause that's spot on.
To know that he must also be familiar with them, which are the only proper racing sims out there if you want actual realism, so therefore it is fair to say he is an actual simracer, if he plays those sims.
The whole thing about damage, and whenever anyone mentions it they get accused of just wanting to play bumper cars is not very fair.
Damage is an integral part of any game which wants to call itself a realistic driving simulator.
If you damage a car it should effect handling, and damage it enough and it should stop working. This is realistic.
Also when there is no proper damage model it facilitates bumper car drivers in online races.
If there was a proper damage system this would not happen, due to the fact that if they hit you , they would also damage themselves.
Couple that with a safety rating and you get very clean, proper racing.
A system like this is why iRacing in particular has the best online racing available.
The point he makes about skining cars and adding decals is also fair enough if people want to race online in leagues, they need a skin to represent their team.
He comes to the same conclusion as me regarding GT, there are lots of things to like, and some not.
Hopefully these issues will be ironed out in future patches/updates/dlc promised by Kaz.
The main point I think is that after 6 years and with such hype, it should be more polished than it is.
It's still really good fun and I'm really enjoying it, but there is definate room for improvement.
I look forward to seeing what's gonna be changed/added in future updates.
(Suppose the Isle of Man TT track is too much to hope for)

@robulus
Have been with GT since the first one and I do get the whole GT experience thing.
Main point of the review though was that it felt unfinished and rushed in parts even though they had an 6 year dev period to get it all cleaned and polished.
Really have to disagree with all the people saying this... for me it would be a LOT of fun and would get a ton of gameplay time. about 30% or so of the time I spend in GT is just "sunday drives," but it would be great if I could actually do it.
SIX years?! Seriously PD, wth?
Taking into account the six years of "development", you must agree this game is a mess and a let down.
I think these reviewers caned the game without getting too far through it though. Which, admittedly, is what everyone is doing, because in six months when some dude comes up for air after really seeing it through, no one will give a toss about his opinion anymore...
Whereas most other games can be reviewed after ten or so hours of play, GT5 demands much more wheel-time. It's an absolute behemoth of a title, and even after twenty hours of play there are still many areas that we've barely touched - the track editor and B-spec mode to name a few. It will take several months to get intimately familiar with every aspect of the game, but we're comfortable that we're now in a position to deliver our verdict on the core of this sprawling epic; the driving experience.
It shouldn't take a six month playtest to properly evaluate something. You get a good general overview of the handling and way the game works from a weekend playtest.
The reviewer actually said that...
He was just reviewing the driving experience, handling, feel etc.
That would be GTA all over again![]()
That's far from 'Spot on'. He's pretty much an arcade racer looking at the pretty cars saying they can't be totaled and is complaining about it. The reviewer is plain wrong. He's expecting the wrong things from a GT game. GT has never been Forza and I don't know why you think his review is anything remotely close to 'spot on'. That's a laugh. It's like saying you think GT is more about painting your cars and adding stickers and vinyls and cool wheels and body kits. GT is called the real driving simulator for a reason. They gave you more than any other GT game has offered. He doesn't go into detail about how damage is available but is toned down so noobs like him that crash every 5 seconds don't ruin their car. He doesn't talk about how you can create tracks. He doesn't say anything about being able to change the wheels and paint them. He even thinks the tuning of the cars is weak? That's obvious Forza fanboyism right there. You should look at the game for what it is and what it offers and not what it's not offering compared to something like Forza or NFS. GT has NEVER been those types of games, why would they start to be?
Yeah I know. That's what he said. He then went on to say the driving experience was great, but it was too hard to find a challenging race in GT mode, and primarily on that basis found the game lacking. Second to Forza, in fact.
I mean, the crappy menu design is a 'first impressions' thing, that I have completely forgotten about already, and the long load times were a launch issue in North America that I never encountered here.
Yeah, no. No I don't. I'm loving every minute of it. I can concede its faults but if you're sitting in front of this game tsking and tutting because its such a let down, you need CPR.
GT5 is still the best racer on a console IMO and is going to get better over time.
Like I said, it is good enough to play for a while and hopefully fixes/improvements are on the way. As in the reviews, I feel the game is a mixed bag of fun and frustration. Do I hate it? No. Am I disappointed? Hell yes.
Once again, you must wonder what they did for 6 years to produce such an unpolished title.
Premium Cars were top priority and the game engine, oh and Kaz's extravagant world tours over the years.![]()
