This.

I think there is just something far more cool about having an awesome, old Le Mans car than a new car 'featuring HYBRID DRIVES and ECO-EFFICIENT fuel use'.

You do realize all of the Group C cars, bar the Peugeot 905, were built with fuel efficency in mind, as per the rules of the series, right? They just didn't have the technological advancements to make them as efficent as they are today.

I would love to know how sustainable of the dlc going?
We all know PD spends countless hours to create one premium car. How can they keep up producing 4-5 cars monthly or bi-monthly? Even they had a head start as soon as GT5 release, but still they may run out of stock releasing new dlc cars. what do you guys think?

Remember it said " Approximately every two months ".
However I wouldnt be surprised if the next DLC would be in early March.
But this DLC every 2 weeks or so is lovely :)

I believe we could see DLC on a monthly basis. Especially if Sony is putting the pressure on PDI for more after finding out what a huge cash cow it could be with the first DLC.

I'm sure they already have more cars ready.

Remember the game was released in Nov. 2010 and less than 20 cars came out after that.

Kaz wanted more time to work on GT5 and they probably had many cars on the making when the game started being sold.

Or.....

They had the cars ready to be released at GT5-release and wanted to make money by selling these as DLC.

Most likely we'll just be able to adjust the downforce, something that currently is not an option on the 2J...

Didn't think of that

I never did notice it though, interesting.

Agree but I don't think it actually Takes 6 month to Model a Car (Acura NSX Concept and Toyota GT-86 were done quickly).

can PD Keep up with a 5-6 car DLC per Month Doubt it .And there will become a Time when the DLC prices Combined will cost more than the Game

Oh and Why don't you update your GT5 Gallery Franz ?Your other work is sensational

PD would have access to the Toyota and Acura before they were revealed to the public. In fact, likely six months ahead.

Probably so...I wouldn't blame 'em

Highly Unlikely they have had it 6 month before (Source?)

There are about 50 car modelers at PD; that means they can make 50 cars in six months. At least.

Well, the modelers probably don't work alone, they probably have teams of modelers. And I don't think the cars still take 6 months to make. In the beginning they might have taken that long, but once they got the process perfected, I'll sure they were able to cut that time in half or something quite close to that.

PD didn't need the complete car to model it, just a body shell or computer rendering of.

The cars were probably hardly complete 6 months before the unveiling.

You think a car company is going to wait until the last minute to finish a product? What do you think all those test mules driving around are for? Take all that camo off and you've got a near production car underneath. Heck, there's been an Acura NSX Convertible on the set of The Avengers for several months now, clearly the design has been complete for some time.

Do you really thing Polyphony Digital digitally rendered the Nissan GT-R the same day it was unveiled to the public, when it became available in GT5 Prologue?

I agree. He told us it takes 6 months to do a car a couple of years ago. I'm sure that with experience, the process has gotten faster.

PD are basically in a nice position if they can keep this up, it's showing how they can get access to the plans and final versions of pre-production cars and concept vehicles and both get them in game before the public gets NEAR them and also prevent professional showcases that companies feel comfortable using. Having a Gran Turismo clip playing while a car like the NSX is being unveiled is a big deal. I hope this means we won't have a GT game where the newest car is a year or two behind, but actually allows them to have future cars added to the game before release (and, if anything changes in the design or specs, to patch in the necessary changes). Even if it was still taking six months, if they can plan ahead, it won't affect the end user as much.

This car pack and track are probably the best lot of DLC so far, too bad the price is soo high. Based on the conversion rate and the price hike they added to the last packs on the NZ PS store its probably gonna cost about $20NZ, which is very high

Nice DLC pack imo. Glad we've got another premium Aston, the Aventador is beastly of course and the Mini Countryman is a nice little addition :) Leaf isn't bad, Beetle is ok and the Jag getting premium treatment is a good step forward. All in all, looking forward to next Wednesday 👍

Also, I'm over the moon that they've FINALLY given us a test track where you can measure things such as a 1 mile drag time. It was sadly lacking until now. Nice one, PD!

I've been thinking this recently. Bodes well - even if it tends to just be Japanese manufacturers.

@MusicalArtist: Here:

Wow that's awesome. Good find MusicalArtist. I remember when some of us were wondering if that was going to be a track. I can only imagine how many cars and tracks they have and are going to release in GT6.

Chances are PD already have a massive backlog of premium cars already built up but plan on using them in further games. I think it's wrong that developers are so now so quick to release masses of new models. Forza released something like 100 models between Forza 3 and 4. I believe most are in the new game. In a two year turn around, thats alot of money and for me devalues the content in the next game. I like little surprises here and there.

The thing is, single player isn't deep enough for me to get into and online isn't streamlined (I can normally get one or two good races an hour) enough for me to love. I just hope instead of dumping all their manpower into graphics and cars and tracks and whatnot that there is an immersive single player, possibly combined with online, experience that I can not tear myself away from in GT6. I feel like a sacrilege, but I don't know how much more hotlapping I can do and I have all the cars I want. I haven't been putting as much into GT as I'd like, but the DLC has been good. I guess I'm just not very creative and can't find novel activities once the linear progression of obtaining cars and levelling ended, other than testing and attempting online races in the rare event I have time.

The TL;DR: I really hope GT6 has something more immersive as far as single player goes.

Question, where PD procure a real XJR-9 to model? I read they have to physically have the car to model it.

Maybe they have all the data they need from when they first modelled it.

How did they have the interior then?

Since when is making a car only about modeling? What happened to physics and sound? They have to make each car behave as close to the real thing as possible, which I can imagine is pretty time consuming.

Surely the race team owners kept iconic cars and these are probably available to the right people. Sony & PD could afford to have one hand built to replace if something happen. So with that and insurance. I don't see them having any issues obtaining any car they want to model. Besides what insane car manufacturer or owner doesn't want their car in GT?

As well i assume the cars themselves are not even touched while being modeled. I don't know for sure how PD does it, but reverse engineering machines do laser scanning. Surely they use similar technology and not a touch off tool. Then again I have seen 3d plotter arms used at AMS for modeling new parts on new cars.

All this is just cool and really wish PD would share some insight on how our virtual garages are done. Maybe GT TV episode idea.

I really hope that this upcoming DLC/update includes fixing the interior view on standards.

It's just weird to drive and not see my car's hood.
