Regarding tracks, the London course in GT5P is still to this day one of the most graphicly impressive tracks in any racing game. It's just incredibly detailed and the texture work is bordering on ridiculous with how detailed it is. Still looks jaw dropping today seeing such a visually impressive track combined with the best looking cars around.

For me is the best looking from GT5P.👍

Alternatively, it could be a reference to Michael J. Fox, meaning one can control the game with the PS Move, but only if you shake the damn thing like crazy...

Dang, I'm still chuckling about this! Don't judge me. I knew a guy with parkinsons who'd joke about it all the time.

Clearly, I missed something because I basically said the same thing, unless you are truly messing with my mind  :odd:
You could have fooled me. ;) But no problem, my misunderstanding.

As far as I am concerned we know absolutely nothing about this premium business and as a result it is really weak conversation. There could be a blob in the next trailer that we have not seen before and it will probably get like 10 pages of random arguing and discussion.

If you want to use one car as an example, use the Cervo.
The Cappu has a lot of history. ;)

too bad the cockpit view is unplayable there.. way too dark

Yeah very dark cockpit view for london but the lighting of the track actually make the cars look better (almost identical to real life )then say Fuji for example .As for the premium thing it would be unfair really especially if someone calls a Cervo premium :D

One word.

Cappuccino. :)

I'm sure the team have stressed tested 16 cars on multiple tracks with differing amount of detail track-side. I do not believe car models are different.

I also believe after a stress-test the team decided that tracks needing more detail or tracks that are bigger would have less cars in a race. This means there is no need to compromise quality.

The only exceptions would be NASCAR and WRC events.

For instance Daytona is hardly the most complex in terms of geometry and the system would only have to render 3 or 4 different 'cars'...all with different team liveries. I would assume for now that 16 cars is still the limit coded in to the engine but I'd suggest that GT5 might be able to push more on that track.

In WRC there is only one car on-screen at any one time so maybe the detail for rally stages will be greater/finer than a track with 16 cars or have better dust visual effects.

However, like I said in my NASCAR example, I believe that the engine code would be limited to 16 cars to cover all bases i.e. there has to be a limit set in stone for the team to work to across the whole game.

A complex track with 16 cars would be the lowest common denominator...if you will...and everything else within that range is gravy.

+1.Same about Tokyo (and Madrid)
Then compare it to Indiapolis and you got a big question...(for me question is: maybe PD wants MORE cars at once on "non-city" tracks?or they just modelled it first?)

Makes alot of sense, but remember.. in your NASCAR example, that the console may only have to remember and generate 4 different models to begin with but after 10 laps it may have to remember and generate each scuff and dent on each individual car, therefore still essentially thinking about 16 different models...

.. therefore I think it's likely that races that feature cars that don't show full exterior damage will be more likely to support bigger grids...

.. all that said, Grids at the relatively simple Oval tracks may be bigger across all races.

In short, your idea is interesting but wrong.

^^^ Its normal because we know almost nothing...

And that is the only good thing about knowing nearly nothing. There's a lot of room to learn; to know about Gran Turismo 5. It's just a matter of when!

I say soon. LOL, what a word.

Why are people still mentioning only rendering 3 or 4 "different" models like it makes a difference??...

it doesn't matter whether you have 16 of the exact same car, or 16 different cars on the track the system still has to render every single car on the track...

AND control the AI of each, regardless of what it is....

I noticed that shadows in the recent videos from the 24 hours of Nürburgring comes from a different direction (at the opposite exactly) than the previous videos of the same track (like during the GT Academy). Maybe a hint for different time of day, or even a day/night cycle ? 👍

Can anyone confirm that ?
(Maybe I'm wrong... :guilty:)

Lol, i was using the Capp as an example of a "non-premium" car that has Interior view.

As in dont worry, if the Capp is modeled, why not the rest?

Ahhh i cant wait to grip my virtual Sparcos around that tiny wire thin 500 wheel!

After watching many times these videos, I confirm that shadows (so time of day) and lights are different.
