That's not a good example because they ( R8's ) still share the same shape whilst the new Mustang ( whether it's 2010 or 2011 model year I'm not sure ) is a new or at least heavily face-lifted model compared to the previous generation of Mustang.
They first appear to look quite similar, but take a better look and you'll realise they're quite different, and I actually prefer the new one.
Even a slight alteration can make a huge difference, and the new Mustang is more than slightly altered, it is completely overhauled..:)

The 2010 and 2011 Mustang GT look identical, but the 2011 performs much better. The 2011 has a 5.0L engine compared to the 4.6 in the 2010 producing about 415 horsepower compared to about 320 horsepower.

Seeing as we're talking about modeling the cars and not engine differences, aren't they the same, eh?

Yes I meant the visual update of the 2010 model I guess compared to the previous one.

Yes, a Corvette and a Mustang do look quite different. But you are right, the 2005-2009 model is different from the 2010 model, but the 2011 model also has a huge performance difference from the 2010 model.

Even in the updated picture it is still wrong, now both cars are the same body style, no difference at all.

EDIT: OK, it is finally right now, lol. But that is not what was originally being talked about, the 2010 and 2011 models were being talked about because the 2011 has a much more powerful engine. But they have the exact same body.

Yeah analog, I was referring to the engine changes, made from the 2010 model to the 2011 models, the styling still the same.

Not only the power was increased, but as the new engines are all aluminum units they help to shed some pounds from the pony car, helping it to achieve better slalom times and skidpad numbers. The fact is, the car must feel totally different to drive, well in the game at least, since I never drove a Stang to make a comparison by myself.

The point is, now the Stang is a worthy competition to the Camaro, it would be strange to have the 2010, old spec Stang against the LS powered monsters from Chevy, the 2011 Mustang sets the bar even higher. Awesome, I would buy one if I were living in USA. :O

Yeah, rub it in one more time adding insult to injury...:lol:, I get it now and agree that the lighter engine will also likely reduce understeer and therefore alone is the preferred choice over the 2010 model.

Taking the conversation from outside of the Mustang planet, one of things that caught my attention was the release year of the models present in the game, for example, since the game was scheduled to late 2009 initially, is safe to suppose that most of the new cars were already chosen by PD, then it's clever to assume that most of the new cars are 2009 models.

At the best scenario, we'll be getting the game in the middle of the year and at the worst scenario, GT5 is a myth we'll get it by Christmas. So we might have six to twelve months of difference, in the newer production models to the versions in the game.

Of course it doesn't apply to supercars and prototypes, since they're always shown with a planned release in a near future ( 2011 - 2012 LFA, 2012 MP4-12C ).

Standard fool is still a fool ( but poorer );).

Since the option for DLC updates is questionable if the insiders on this forum ( and Kaz himself, although that's not necessarily reliable ) are to be believed most new cars will probably indeed be 2009 models with some possible exceptions like the BMW 3-series in GT4.
To me that's a shame, as I would really love GT5 being updated regularly by new car-packs or even just a single car which could be optional or free and something to look out for once the cars included become overly familiar ( yeah I know, hard to fathom now ) or when IRL a new car is introduced.
But life isn't all beer and skittles I guess.:)

To be honest, I rarely(almost never) check other parts of the forum other than the GT5 section and I'm sure there are others like me, so this one post shouldn't be a big deal. +it's also a sarcastic reminder that some games actually get release dates.;)

Then they need to get out more. :)

GT will have a date, eventually. God for bid it's not a "regular" game that releases sequels every year.

Having a release date =/= coming out every year!
p.s. No, I wouldn't like GT to come out yearly and be like EA's sport games which are almost identical, bar the stats, yet they charge you full price.:yuck:

Really? Where? Dan mentioned wanting the 2011 mustang and other deserving cars. Analog agreed and mentioned modeling. That's when I said the 2010 and 2011 look the same. Where was power mentioned? Analog was right in what he said.

No. They didn't make
you to buy all those things. You bought them cause you thought you needed them or just wanted them. Not being able to stop yourself from spending money is your problem, not Sony's

Us they didn't actually make me but if the temptation is there if you have enough funds so what I basiclly ment to say who ever bought some of those(including yours truely) or haven't bought any deserve the game by now.

I just highlighted all the things that are not required for you to play GT5. They are making it versatile with multiple different ways to play. If it is worth the additional cost to do those other things or not is purely up to you and your budget.

I agree about the ps eye and 3D stuff but a full hd TV is an essential for me the difference between SD AND HD is massive in GT5P.Which leads me to my point is it fair the game is delayed to support yet another gadgets that they want people to buy.

I had it on an SD TV for a full three months. It still worked just fine. The difference is huge, but HD was not required to play the game.

Yes, it is fair. You haven't paid for the game yet, so they technically owe you nothing.

Crappy marketing move? Yep. Fair? Yep.

Plus, you wanting the game now, assuming they listened, could be removing a feature that those wanting 3D and Move in the game actually are looking forward to.

You can look at it that way but the way I see it less than 5 % who play gt actually care about those two features ,I think Sony is using GT5 as a reason to buy them .
