^Off-topic, but do you get South Park in the Netherlands Analog?
Just so you know, in order for it to work with GT5, you need to connect it backwards (same as for the "Bodnar controller" - see here), otherwise your pedal acts as a brake release! Might save you some time on installation
^I'm sure those shows aren't censored compared to over here.
Sorry for the off-topic chat...there's not much GT talk going on at the moment.
Thanks Griffith i didn't know it had to be connected backwards ! Maybe be the time it'll be available again, Andy will have fixed the quality problem... i heard that some people had some issues with this mod after a few weeks.
@Analog: Funny you mention that GT is suitable for ages 3 and up. My cousin went full out Nazi when she found her son (who was 7 at the time) play my GT4 and crashing into cars on purpose.
She said it was too violent (WTF?) 👎👎
Logic is not for everyone.
I don't know if this has been discussed at length anywhere else here, but I'll post in here so that the "mob" can see it...
I've just been messing about with Prologue, and my experience has been completely changed by turning ABS off. (Although, I'm really annoyed that I can't do it in time trial - I should be able to forgo the leaderboards and do what the hell I want.)
Anyway, turning ABS off unlocks a whole new dynamic to the game. I will admit that the threshold is badly communicated (lots of squeal and smoke at optimal braking point, wth? No steering feedback, only a bit of screen shake) and it is usually quite a long way up the pedal travel, making it difficult to modulate.
However, I've fitted a load-cell sensor-type thingy to my G25, to replace the old spring and pot' rubbish. I did this mainly for "proper" sims before I got Prologue, so I was worried it wouldn't work - but it does! 👍
The point is, because it's pressure based, not displacement, it's far easier to maintain very light braking forces (e.g. for scrubbing into the banks at Daytona, a Godsend in the Ford GT) and also for trail braking (which is very difficult without ABS) - and the maximum pressure is adjustable (I push as hard as I expect I'd ever need to at the start of a race to calibrate, and never have any problems thereafter.)
So yeah, I took the Viper GTS out first, sans ABS... Holy moly, it doesn't want to slow down in anything other than a straight line. Locks an inside wheel at the slightest provocation.
I decide to try something a bit lighter: an S1 Elise. Much better! You can really lean on the brakes, deep into the corner and it livens up the rear end immensely.
This is the biggest improvement. Gone is the sterility of the turn in and brake into the corner (where you'd usually just understeer off if you pushed too hard), instead you can keep turning in, but the rear end just doesn't follow, and you pirouette into the gravel / armco / solid granite cordon tape. Marvellous!
Then I tried the DC5. Superb fun, managed to beat an NSX around Suzuka - AI perhaps still needs work... The tuned Clio. It actually felt like a stripped-down road car, and the thing was sooo responsive on braking into corners, such that you could set up a perfect four-wheel drift on the brakes alone, whilst already turning, brilliant around London where grip and speed are generally low, and you're relying a lot on the rhythm of the suspension. This was all with S3s. I tried the 512 with N3s, and traction under acceleration was more of a problem than braking grip. Eiger is also a whole new challenge, with the undulations really upsetting braking grip.
All in all, if they can find a way to make it more accessible to people without a load cell / wheel (can't imagine what it's like on a pad!), I think more of the same in GT5 proper will be abso-flaming-lutely amazing!!!

Ah yes, over two years ago!! I only got Prologue in January, and I'd followed the discussions once Spec II had been released, but didn't remember any in-depth discussion. Thanks anyway, and it is a whole new game - I love it!
Yeah, I was lucky, I just caught the tail end of a batch before Christmas. It's very good, compared to the original set-up - not sure about how it compares to other load cells. One complaint I have is the lower hinge (the main one) is too wide for the new assembly, such that it rocks unless you brace it with spacers on the bushing. The forces you put through it are sustained at a much higher level than standard, so I might be worried about the bushes, too (some people have had issues with wheelie chairs, and at first I would lever against the wheel, but I found a way of levering through both legs, so I stay put!).
Just so you know, in order for it to work with GT5, you need to connect it backwards (same as for the "Bodnar controller" - see here), otherwise your pedal acts as a brake release! Might save you some time on installation - unless mine was a freak
I also read on here that you should swap the clutch spring over to the throttle pedal, and the brake spring onto the clutch. I can't be bothered to open mine up again...
The difference from the original G25 brake pedal is like night and day
OK, I'll stop touting now...
^^ Yeah, I'm feeling optimistic about the release too dude, seems like the waiting is finally over. Refreshing news. 👍
July-September sounds prime to me.
Off topic but it's used in England somewhat.Isn't it "Dude" only use by Americans? And your from Brazil?Anyway I'm hoping that it will release that month too.
next week will be perfect (will finish my exams next week),19 days to go can you feel the tension ,what a day it will be .
August would be perfect 👍
Once summer fun over... I say we stay home and save money by playing GT5!
Yes, but you still can release the cork anytime you want.![]()
Oh...too soon yet?![]()
