Little off topic but as we have a lack of some real news I thought you may like this. INCREDIBELY well put together trailer of GT5 with the music of the new and absolutely brilliant movie Inception (yes I saw it). Very high quality too.

I am at an undisclosed location where i cannot see the video until i am Home...

but yeah i can see the analogy... GT5 is like a never-ending dream.... several layers deep....

... Each time we wake up, it still hasn't come true :D We might be lost forever in the Vegetable state...

(with Kaz having succeeded in putting into our minds that GT5 is the greatest racing game ever)

Oh sorry in my text it probably sounded as if I was the one, who created it, but it was someone else, just searched for new GT5 videos and saw this. :dunce:

Edit: @ wajdi: No prob mate!

Very unusual to have a release on a Tuesday in Europe I think.

Yeah, most games in Europe are released on Fridays, however some have bucked that trend. MW2 was released worldwide on the same day, 10th November 2009, so it's not out the question 👍

I don't think the EU will get a confirmed release date until an announcement at Gamescom in Germany, unless something is leaked earlier (which is very unlikely based what's been leaked, or rather, not been leaked, over the past year).

Check amazon and other reliable websites for the release date, it even says it on the official GT5 website!

on the american site, yes.

on the european sites, no.

edit; come gamescom, we'll know european release date. (or so I believe)

*video*

That was a masterpiece, and a beautiful display of what GT5 has in store.

lol I was the one who made that video. I posted it in the "GT5 Music Video I Made" topic instead of here.

Thanks anyways guys. :)

PlayStation 3 gamers in the UK are lucky today as they have the option to spend 99p on the Playstation store and buy the 17th episode of First play (the UK’s answer to Qore) the HD downloadable game review video mag. Why buy this one i hear you ask? well it’s going to feature a multiplayer preview of Gran Turismo 5. Will we see something new or just some old images / video with some new info who knows but for 99p you can’t go wrong.

The playstation store usually updates between the hours of 4pm – 6pm and while i don’t know any of the other content that will feature in this weeks update i really can’t say i care aslong as theres some GT5 goodness to be had.

That's one thing I'm hoping for too, but it's also one thing we'll see after the release date
It would be enough for me if you have to pay for your fuel and your repairs.

I would like to see race entry fees, charges for consumables (ie fuel, tires, brake pads etc), and heavy charges for damage, even some sort of insurance/compensation scheme for reckless driving.

I usually force myself not to abuse the easy money-makers until I'm a good ways into the game and am starting on car collection hunting instead of completion percentages.

I play the game the same way myself, but online being what it is, I fear that I will be forced to milk the easy races just to keep abreast with those online that will intentionally abuse the money system on GT5. 👍

I do hope you misspelt Meistershaft on purpose for comedy effect as Mastershaft sounds a bit dirty when both parts of that word are read as English instead of German.....

Indeed it was misspelt intentionally! I hated that race on GT4. It was so easy to milk, I didn't even need to race it myself, to get the nigh on 1 million free credits!

But paying for tyres ( each time a new set ) and fuel would just limit the amount of playing time mostly I guess as you would have to consider if it's worth or whether you can afford just driving around in the game each time.

That would simply be punishing you for doing what this game was intended for, driving and racing.

You could look at it as punishment, or you could look at it as some sort of regulatory process. I am in no doubt that the races that include actual damage to the cars, are going to descent into a destruction derby. Having to pay (heavily) for repairs, tires or fuel, would keep those who think that it is funny to wreck cars in check. 👍

Speaking of which...

Has anyone heard anything at all about the penalty system in GT5. Is it going to be an evolution of the system in GT5P, or are PD going to introduce a 'full flag system'? I'm hoping that PD, have chosen the latter... 👍

I do hope you misspelt Meistershaft on purpose ...

 I've only just noticed this... I hope you misspelled Meisterschaft on purpose, too... :p

@magburner - I'd like all of those things you mentioned; it would provide more of a challenge. Just how much would end up frustrating me and end up being switched on and off intermittently is another matter, of course...

If I can manage to get my friends asses up I'll visit the gamescon.

Shouldn't be too hard to get a camera and make some videos of GT5. Hopefully there's a new demo with new cars and tracks (and damage).

A look at the fifth game in Sony’s long running driving series.

Gran Turismo 5 has some serious competition – F1 2010, DiRT 3, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Motorstorm Apocalypse and World Rally Championship are all due out within a year. Polyphony Digital may be feeling a bit under pressure at the moment: with a lengthy development period spanning over four years and a less than affable Prologue released back in 2008, the November release date must be casting a very foreboding shadow over their heads.

The culmination of a lengthy amount work on a revolutionary racing title in a well-respected and loved series will see the eyes of every gamer, blogger and developer fixed squarely on Polyphony Digital, as they release possibly the most anticipated game of 2010. Can Gran Turismo 5 be the incredible game everyone has been told it will be?

On first inspection, I’m going to say yes.

Late last year a ‘Time Trial Demo’ was released, which was meant to show the progress made from the Prologue as well as offer players a competition to enter. I wasn’t as impressed with the supposed improvements as Polyphony had expected me to be. The driving felt oddly underwhelming still and the camera control was awkward and rugged. The physics were improved upon and the graphics admirable, but I never felt entertained playing it. It certainly didn’t compete with Forza 3 at the time…

This week I was given some time with the game (not the full retail but a near to completion demo build) which allowed me to take a whole range of cars around different tracks in the game’s time trial mode. The timer was limited to less than two minutes but it was enough time to complete a lap, which added a welcome competitive edge to the time I spent with the game. I’m not a hugely competitive gamer but if there’s a time to beat I feel compelled to at least try a few times – someone had set a rapid time around one of the tracks and, with the likes of Killzone 3, LittleBigPlanet 2 and Move games available to play around me, I spent a lot of time thorougly enjoying trying valiantly to best it.

It was testament to Gran Turismo 5 that its heightened realism and full simulation design still kept me on the edge of the very comfy Recaro racing seat provided; Forza rarely has that effect on me. Some of the enjoyment I experienced could perhaps be attributed to the Logitech GT wheel I used for some of the time with the game, but I still had a hell of a lot of fun with a Dualshock 3 in hand instead. There’s a very noticeable difference between the 2009 demo and now, a difference which has me now wanting to buy this game day one, as opposed to not being interested in playing it.

The visuals have been improved upon even more, to the point where playing in 3D is not really an improvement. I was happier playing the boring old Full HD version rather than in 3D – I already felt so immersed in first-person view that 3D didn’t really add anything extra to the experience. HDTV owners can feel comforted in knowing that GT5 isn’t a game that warrants spending £2000 because it’s incredibly satisfying without it.

Gran Turismo 5 has come a long, long way, and Polyphony Digital have convinced me that this Gran Turismo will be the best in the series. I’m still looking more forward to F1 2010, but Gran Turismo 5 is now for me a must-buy and it should be for you too.

Yeah the thing I don't like about many of the demos we've seen is they're always showing the SAME tracks and cars over and over! :grumpy: We've seen Rome and the 'Ring far too many times.

I expect that that one or more new features will be revealed at the GamesCom (perhaps dynamic weather) and that there will be a playable demo to show off those features. I doubt though that PD will show any new track, not until the game comes out, but maybe the GamesCom demo will have an old, but improved, track like Fuji or Tsukuba.
