I'm ready to drive.

I Just got a G27. My G25 GT Driving Force (GTDF) is now a backup.

I hope the GT5 retail version fully supports the G27 button layout (with graphical button layout like the G25 GT Driving Force and older wheels are in the Logitech options menu), clutch, and six speed shifter in the options menu.

I want the cars to react realistically to how the driver depresses and releases the clutch to attempt upshift/downshift rev matching (unless driving a 370Z - I love that syncro rev match system).

Below is the G27 limited compatibility with GT5P that I have observed over 3 hours of use:

Wheel:

- Force feed back = Very good
- Paddle Shifters = Not mapped (not sure why)
- Red Buttons:
Left three = All mapped as rear view
Right three = Not mapped
- Rev lights = Do not register

Shifter:

- Four black buttons (work similar to the PS3 Dual shock when selecting, canceling, etc.)
While driving:
top = neutral [cycles clutch use for the G27]
right = E-brake
bottom = Not mapped
left = Not mapped
- D-pad (Similar to PS3 when navigating menu) Not mapped for use while driving.
- Gear shifter. (Works well / As expected) 2nd best reason to upgrade from G25 GTDF.
1st-6th = 1st - 6th gear (need paddles, which are not mapped, for higher gears)
Reverse = Reverse
Neutral = Neutral (when clutch toggled for use by top black button on shifter)
- Bottom four red buttons:
Outside Left = Not mapped
Inside Left = View change
Inside Right = pause
Outside Right = Not mapped

Pedals/Clutch:

- Throttle = Very Good
- Brake = Very Good
- Clutch = Good. 1st and best reason to upgrade from G25 GTDF. Clutch even stalls the car if you release too quickly without throttle, but the gear grind sound would be a nice touch if clutch not used.

Biggest Issues:

(Below are G27 issues not currently supported by GT5P, but assumed to be fully supported for the G27 in the retail version of GT5 on November 2nd, 2010)

1. Mapping of all buttons is not available
2. Paddle Shifters not usable/mapped
3. Wheel Rev lights not registering
4. No ability to call up the Cross Media Bar (XMB) with a “PS” type button.

Conclusion:

- The G27 is a great wheel for GT5P. The G27 may well be a superior driving wheel for simulation racing enthusiasts when GT5 releases in November.
- Compared to the G25 GT Driving Force (GTDF), the G27’s button layout, while very providing, is not as conveniently organized as the GTDF. The D-Pad, RA rotary dial, RA +/- selector, and other familiar PS3 buttons are a big advantage for the GTDF
- Compared to the G27, the GTDF lack of a clutch may be the deciding factor for some GT5P & GT5 drivers.
- Unless GT5 allows drivers to map a XMB function to one of the 20 available G27 buttons, drivers will need to have a Dual Shock 3 Controller fully charged or connected via USB to fix this issue.
- The Build Quality and Feel of the G27 matches its $299 retail ($250 online) price tag.

-If you want Logitech’s Full Driving Simulation Quality, then go for the G27. If you want Logitech Driving Convenience, a wheel developed with the help Gran Turismo creator/developer Kazunori Yamauchi and the Polyphony Digital team, then go/stay with the G25 GT Driving Force.

What is a G25 GT Driving Force (GTDF)?

If you mean DFGT, thats different wheel to the G25. G25 has a clutch (same clutch as G27).

I am absolutely delighted to be able bring what will hopefully be very exciting news to those patiently (or impatiently) waiting for more information on Gran Turismo 5. During E3, our American colleagues unveiled their rather tasty looking Collector’s Edition. Today I can now confirm the special editions of Gran Turismo that will be heading Europe’s way later this year.

First up, we have a very special version of the game; one that, with its artfully sculpted exterior, glossy black finish and meticulously designed premium content, exemplifies everything the Gran Turismo brand has always stood for – beauty and precision.

This version of the game is known as the Signature Edition and the recommended retail price will be €179.99. It contains a whole host of exclusive additional content, which is listed below.

* Metal sculpted box finished in SLS AMG Obsidian Black
* Exclusive GT branded SLS AMG 1:43 model car
* GT leather wallet containing Signature Edition competition entry card
* Branded USB key with Polyphony/Mercedes-Benz trailer
* GT branded metal key fob
* Signature Edition coffee table book featuring the beautiful cars and locations of Gran Turismo 5
* 200 page Apex drivers magazine with hints on driving technique, car tuning, future technologies and more

This is in addition to five ‘ChromeLine’ Collector’s Edition cars plus six ‘Stealth’ vehicles, both featuring enhanced performance and liveries and an exclusive dynamic theme.

A dazzling array of content, I’m sure you will agree, but what makes this very special of special editions, well…very special, is a rather unique competition. Those lucky enough to get their hands on the Signature Edition (quantities are going to be strictly limited) will be able to enter an extraordinary competition that will combine in-game and real world driving challenges – the prize at the end of these two stages? A real Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar.

That’s right; through a combination of meeting challenges in-game within Gran Turismo 5 and then subsequently pulling all the right moves at the AMG Signature Edition driving school, you could win what Kazunori Yamauchi himself has called the “most exciting car in the world right now”.

To have a chance of getting your hands on the prize, you’re going to have to be 18 or over and hold a full driving licence. Full competition details will be made available at gran-turismo.com shortly.

The Signature Edition competition will be open to residents of the following countries;

UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, Czech Republic, Russia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

It could well be time to get saving.

Next up for something slightly less exotic but certainly no less exciting, alongside the Signature Edition at launch we will be offering the Gran Turismo 5 Collector’s Edition. This version of the game will have a recommended retail price of €79.99.

The Collector’s Edition features an exclusive commemorative #5 slip case. It also shares special edition inlay art with the Signature Edition.

What’s more, not only do you also get the same dynamic theme as in the Signature Edition, the same set of five ChromeLine vehicles, and also the Apex driver’s magazine, you also get five collectible artcards featuring beautifully rendered images carefully chosen by the team at Polyphony.

And if that lot hasn’t got you going then the final piece of the jigsaw just might. Alongside the special editions of the game, I can now unveil the 6 highly covetable pre-order cars that will be available in those countries with PlayStation Store.

All of the 6 pre-order vehicles in what Polyphony has titled the ‘Stealth’ range feature both performance and livery enhancements to give you that little extra edge in-game.

Here’s the line up:

Mazda 787B Stealth Model

Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model

I hope the exciting packages that we have unveiled here have whet your appetite for the fifth proper Gran Turismo game – so which special edition to choose? Decisions, decisions…

There will be more information to come on all of the above and of course plenty more news to come on Gran Turismo 5 itself. Without a doubt it’s going to appear here, at eu.playstation.com and on gran-turismo.com so keep checking back.

Since E3 we have seen, so far, only 8 cars on track at the same time. Why PD decreased the number of car ? I'm a little dissapointed ! I just hope there will be 16 cars on the final version.

Maybe they did that to add new features (weather, day/night transition) during the race, to improve graphics or even the damage model ? What do you think ?

If you could choose between 16 cars on track and thoose (presumed) extra-features, what would you do ?

So the Nascar CE vehicle is a US only thing I gather?

That's a nice line up of Collector edition cars
Audi R10 TDI Stealth Model must be a premium....

GT branded SLS AMG 1:43 model car beats the Stealth GT-R model IMO

This is in addition to five ‘ChromeLine’ Collector’s Edition cars plus six ‘Stealth’ vehicles, both featuring enhanced performance and liveries and an exclusive dynamic theme.

so 11 DLC cars altogether?

Tasty! But it doesn't say if the regular CE gets the DLC cars...

That has me interested because my country is included Sorry US

€79.99 for the Collector's Edition and €179.99 for the Signature Edition :scared:

Better get saving those pennies, folks... Signature Edition looks pretty cool though, but that's a heck of alot of cash for a game, no matter which way you slice it.

If you are lucky and have driving skills however, you can get yourself a 140000 euros car.

Nope, there where 16 cars on track all premium.

OK, so I'd better make my way to EB games tommorow and change my pre-order from Collectors to Signature :) Awesome!

This clarifies things - no stealth cars for CE :(

Bridgestone

That doesn't justify the price :scared::scared:, I'm VERY disappointed. I'll stick to the collector's edition and save 100€....

Watch again the videos from E3, Comic Con & Playstation Beta there were only 8 cars.

Sigh... gotta link this JUST for you. Check 5:30 and onwards.. plenty of 16 car footage.

Anyway, back to the present. I'm highly upset... that the signature version isn't coming to the US, and importing it will cost me over 200 USD =/. It's funny, when the CE bundle was announced for US, and nothing for Europe, people claimed that EU was getting the short end of the stick... Sigh...

The above show the stealth models, but I'm wondering what these ingame chrome line models are? Regular cars with chrome trim?

I do like me some PS3 dynamic theme. I currently have the one from Flower, which is cool

Hm, what do you think, is the 787B premium? I think and hope so, that would be nice, actually I think all stealth cars are premium, therefore all the normal versions of these cars should be premium too right?

i can't see many people importing the signature edition from the US when one of the main features - the competition to win a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG is not available over there.

I hope they don't sell too may signature editions, gives me more a of chance to win a SLS, please go buy collectors instead :D

I want a version without that for the US... since we can't participate. I'm sure that alone would knock off the price some.

Sorry me guys can you clarify to me:
Those 6 "stealth" cars only in *signature version*?or in *collectors edition* too?

And what is that?
» In-game ChromeLine vehicle pack: five performance-enhanced cars ready to race.

Also that's very good that Mazda 787B and Audi R10 TDI are premiums!
