Ferrari 458 Italia vid - the road noise changes when you go onto the paved section

I really like the AI of the gtFord!!but I dislike the engine sound of the Ferrari 458 that sucks again and I tell you what,I guarantee you that the engine sound of my Clio 1.9TDI is more impressive!!👎👎👎

I always get a laugh at the gear change animation. Why does the hand linger for so long?! It's like my avatar has arthritis:lol:

Nascar damage does seem more extensive, but you still need to crash it a dozen times to get what would really happen at the first one. Hope this is some kind of arcade setting or something...

-> A NASCAR vehicle on a Tokyo track made my stomach churn a bit. Its not bad or anything like that; it just feels very, very odd.

~> Oh well, I'll be driving that Waltrip's Camry on Cita Di Aria when GT5 comes out anyway. :sly:

Does look a bit odd, although my avatar is allowed to display any form of illness as long as an interior view is available in my opinion.
The first part of that clip also shows headtracking if I'm not mistaken when the player looks around the interior, is this the 360 degree interior view they were talking about as opposed to simply looking left and right like Prologue?

^^ I was wondering if that was headtracking. Hope it is, it seemed smooth.
Damage looks good,IMHO.
The damage to the rear looks abit odd though.

That was a joke from a japanese blog.

Strange sense of humour.

Idioms usually do not translate well; in some cases, when an idiom is translated into another language, either its meaning is changed or it is meaningless.

Idioms. Japanese is full of them.

EDIT: It's a bit like an in-joke; if you don't know the context, you're left high and dry.

IF this has already been posted, then Sorry.. but I had to.

Play the game on your own tv before you make a judgement. The engine sound is never going to sound that good because your listening to it on a video which has poor sound quality. Even on the video the engine sounds are a lot more improved compared to GT4. I don't see how so many people can judge GT5's sounds before even hearing it first person themselves.

Exactly 👍 I bet it will sound even better through a pair of Sennheiser's too.

This post brings back a LOT of memories from just before GT4's release.

There is no way that you can say a game won't sound better when you hear it for yourself in first person. Listening to the engine through a video is never going to give you a full idea of what the car sounds like. It's like watching a very poor quality video of a game and then saying the graphics are rubbish because it looks blurry.

Why do real life cars sound nice or anyway believable even when recorded with cheap cameraphones, while GT5 sounds need studio headphones or hi-end hifi systems to sound vaguely similar to the real thing? Let's face it: car sounds have been Gran Turismo's weakest point since long ago and while there do have been many improvements, there's still a long way to go before matching the level achieved by the game's graphics (for example).

While I generally agree with you Matt.
A member recently faked a rally car sound and it sounded excellent.
Maybe it's just my ears.

On top of that, the music sounds like it's coming from headphones.

Of course, maybe that's a clue or something... ;)

I'm not saying that hearing GT5 on your tv will all of a sudden change it into a great sounding game. But criticizing it so heavily before even hearing it yourself is just a bit harsh to me. The Ferrari in that video sounds great to me though. Compared to the usual hoover sound from previous Gt games it does sound really good. In the old games a lot of the cars sounded the same, atleast from what I have heard from GT5 all of the cars sound different.

ok,let's wait!but I'm really so much pessimistic about this aspect of the game and I guarantee you that I have a very good audio home system but gt5p sound "sounds" :sly:a lot bad though !!:nervous:

Because real life cars have sound reverberation(assuming thats the word), which can be picked up by any kind of sound recording device close enough in range and its not contained by speakers.

Yeah, it's quite unusual to see the bumper smashed up into the spoiler. It normally looks something like this after a rear impact.

Nice pics of the NASCAR damage....didn't know something that's smashed to bits could look so beautiful :p

I'm not entirely convinced by this argument.
I guess I'll have to try someday to record quality sound footage of real cars from high-end TV speakers and see if engines sound like on these GT videos.

The problem I have is that even videos with direct-feed audio like this one are disappointing sound-wise, although you might (rightfully) say that they do not represent the quality of the final game.
