It just occurred to me that no one has brought up LAN play. Will GT5 have LAN play? It will be a shame if this feature isn't included. I ask because I've noticed the lack of LAN play in many games this generation.

i'm pretty sure it will cause the special GT academy demo had a lan setup

I've brought it up nearly a year ago ;) https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=119435

That's the most recent thread about LAN play: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127269

Me too :nervous:. Forza 3 is one of those games .

There are reports that it needed a connection to a PD server: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=127269&page=5#post3950853

Since the PS3 does not have to deal with piracy, I would file it under possible with a slight chance of likely.

Here's another video of the Ring without any altering done to the video

It loads in 28 seconds.

Me too . Forza 3 is one of those games .

That answers 2 of my questions

The video thing is unexcusable. from a journalistic point of view not a GT fan point of view.
You clearly see the people's reflection. And a good journalist needs do display real footage. Fox also got slapped when they showed all Irak war footage and displayed it as new.
That's simply unexceptable

I expected that from IGN but not from kotaku
What? That's typical Kotaku, not the first time they make something like this.

IGN always loves GT series, they would never hate it.

^ As an owner of the game, I concur.

I still love it though.

I would agree as well, regarding the GTPSP review and above statements. It is a great game however its GT4 with less features. Not mind blowing but considering its on a handheld it was all we could expect for the amout of content we got.

Yes, and I would agree with them, where is GT mode with car upgrading? All it was is a TT and ARCADE mode.

Erm, PD said there wouldn't be one and that's not what the games was about. Why dis a game and lower its score when it's your fault you can't grasp the concept of it? Pretty stupid if you ask me.

I can see what you mean, and I can also see that reviewers don't and can't score based on how well the company's concept has been executed, rather on how good a game the overall package turns out to be.

GTPSP definitely hits the mark, based on what PD set out to do, but it is lacking as an overall experience in my opinion, and got very repetitive for me very quickly, along with other GT fans, let alone regular gamers.

Maybe, I don't know, because they didn't like it? People are allowed to not love GT just because of it's name.

@drivatar
Thanks for the links sir.

You guys still read game reviews? Just rent the game (or borrow it etc.) and test it out before you decide if it's worth your money. You shouldn't base your purchase on the opinions of the game sites.

Eh, I usually agree with you on most things Dave, but as much as I used to play PSP for precisely the reasons PD originally intended (short bursts, hence no GT mode), giving it a lower score for a review was a fair move. The game doesn't deliver a huge amount of depth past an excessively padded car list. With games like Crisis Core and Peace Walker out on the system, there are examples of fully-featured games for handhelds.

A game shouldn't be scored solely on if it hits the developer's targets. If they set their sites low, and hit them all, it doesn't make it a perfect game ;).

That all said though... meh, don't really care one way or the other what websites like IGN say in reviews these days anyways. I know I'm stubborn enough to buy whichever games I personally like, and will continue to do so.

Yeah, I do not care what IGN, gamespot, g4, etc says about GT5, ive waited 4 years for it and i am picking it up at midnight of release day.

And dave sz, you always try to argue against me yet many agree with me on the point, hmm why is that?

agreed

I'm not disagreeing with any one that GTPSP was a let down, I was saying that many of the review sites scored it lower because they were expecting something that was never supposed to be. It's not an amazing game but IMO it's better than what they rated it.

Ok, I'm glad someone brought this to your attention. They're definitely attempting to smear GT5 on Kotaku, and now at Lazygamer as well. I emailed the editor-in-chief of Kotaku, Brian Crecente, to see if he'd have a bigger mention of the tampering of this video mentioned. I find it reprehensible that people are already trying to start screwing with GT5's success.
👍👍

But not everyone knows that much about GT or has played since the early days, so the casual player looking for info about GT5 could come accross inaccurate previews/reviews and form opinions off of these inaccuracies, therefore deciding to spend money on another game.

Kotaku have been a bit stupid here, instead of trying to spoil GT5 they have just wrecked they own reputation. They should have to apoligise rather than just blaiming it on a bug.

Oke. Guess we've all seen the latest Gt5 Nascar damage video. I'm someone who like to see GT5 more as a sim than a game. Personally I think the damage and especially the sparks give the whole thing more of a game-ish look to me.
I appreciate the accuracy PD is putting in to it. The cars look awesome. The tracks also. The night/day looks stunning. The physics (indy demo) were and will be incredible. But the damage..... Mmmmmm. Here's a vid of a real NASCAR crash this weekend. Judge for yourself. See any sparks.……?!?!?!

When i saw the sparks first time, I thought its not real it doesnt seem real but. After i watched a few movie,My decision changed. They are real.It occurs when your car rub to wall.Even if rub to other car. I m sure we will see the sparks under the car, when it rub to asphalt. Because GT3 and GT4 had it. This is Real.

It's a driving simulator not a crash damage simulator go play burnout for that or one those ultra pc sims that some people speak of if you want to complain.

No.Dont go to play Burnout:P.These sparks are real..If your car rub to walla you will see the sparks.Rubi it!:D

Sparks from suspension / exhaust contact with pavement are very welcomed and realistic effect already known from previous GT's but there used to be added particles that bounced off the ground multiple times. But those two meters long simple spark traces seen in latest demos are very arcadish and ridiculous. They occur very sporadically when metal rubs metal in certain speed. Movies are well known for exaggeration of them and use of pyrotechnic effects instead of them. When a car is made from carbon fibre or plastic then sparks are plain stupid. Don't overuse them, PD. Please.

I know movies actions. But i cant test it in real life.Pd will fix them. They will make it too close to real. They are seems like spark water for now.
