Just read that GT5 still isn't complete yet. Is this some kind of joke?!

Just a thought after watching some GT5 videos. It occured to me that I can't find any videos where it's possible to deactivate the ABS... As it was also impossible to deactivate ABS in the GT Academy... Could it be that we won't be able to deactivate it in the final game ?

Yeah, it's a joke to even think it would be sitting around finished 3 months before release.

In GT5P it was in quick tuning, In GT5 it will probably be in setup.

cant you adjust abs in in during race tuning menu?

ccording to this video of a Nurburgring demo, GT5 takes over a minute and a half to load. This track is quite long, so that might be a factor in this lengthy load time. It could also mean that shorter tracks have shorter load times.

This video was filmed by French GT5 site GT5rs. Note: These demo load times have not been directly confirmed by Kotaku.

But if GT5 does in fact suffer from long load times, all is not lost! With a couple months left and GT developer Polyphony Digital still hard at work, there is hope that these horribly long load times can be significantly reduced. Hope, people, hope.

Update: Some readers have pointed out that this video may be slowed to give the appearance of longer load times. Make of it what you will!

Some of the older demos of the Nurb we have seen loaded pretty quickly

You can turn it off in prologue but the effect remains on?

The video is slowed down, you only need to compare the time from the demo and the youtube player, I don't know why anybody would do something like that, but I guess there are a lot of people with free time . And of course, Kotaku doing his best with any PS3 exclusive.....

Let's just just think it was done with the best of intentions... to put pressure on PD and GT5 loading times

And not to mock GT5 loading times... :irked:

Kotaku is a Sony and playstation hater.
This video is fake..

Exactly.
Craptaku at it's best again.

with regards to load time, surely a game install would cure that, much like socom or forza 3

Prologue has to be installed. And it's pretty slowish at times. I'd imagine GT5 having to be installed to maximize performance and being equally slowish when loading a race. Loading times can only be optimized up to a point, and are always a draw back when you have so much stuff and high quality HD stuff being loaded at once...

Ok, I'm glad someone brought this to your attention. They're definitely attempting to smear GT5 on Kotaku, and now at Lazygamer as well. I emailed the editor-in-chief of Kotaku, Brian Crecente, to see if he'd have a bigger mention of the tampering of this video mentioned. I find it reprehensible that people are already trying to start screwing with GT5's success.

I'd be optimistic with you, but the video and article from Kotaku are already being picked up by other 'news' agency's, as the real deal. Even after many responders to the Kotaku thread pointed out that it's obviously slowed, the writer, Brian Ashcraft simply added

"Update: Some readers have pointed out that this video may be slowed to give the appearance of longer load times. Make of it what you will!"

It's actually kind of easy to miss, which is concerning.

Yep, the videos are fake. Don't worry :)

G4TV released a new Gran Turismo 5 preview yesterday and aside from more car porn, a few interesting tidbits pertaining to NASCAR could be seen for a few seconds. We spotted five items worth noting in the screenshot below;
1. While we’ve seen a lot of NASCAR footage in GT5 previews, and we’ve heard a lot as well, it appears we’ll only get to race 8 cars per race. While the game can run “up to” 16 cars a race, that doesn’t appear to apply to NASCAR.
2. The attention to detail. We know Polyphony Digital are perfectionists, but this is some insane stuff. Here you see the Target decals on the pillar, exactly where it is in real life. We can’t wait to get this game in-house and have a full look around the cockpit.
3. Mirrors are an interesting feature in racing games. You’re essentially rendering the game from a different perspective in real-time while the player races. Here we see both the main rear-view mirror and the side mirror many drivers rely on due to the constraints of their racing seats. And of course everything in the mirrors is rather detailed.
4. It may be hard to see but it appears to be the right hand of the driver. Now, drivers are nothing new in Gran Turismo but it’s the small things that add up to make a great experience. Last we checked, however, all drivers in-game will be GT branded.
5. We’re not sure how old the G4TV preview build was but it appears Polyphony Digital still has a bit of tweaking to do if they want to get it absolutely right. Here you can see the lap time is a 47:700, which is about 1.675 seconds faster than the pole speed set by Juan Pablo Montoya at Indy a few weeks ago. Granted, the game still has a few months before it ships, but it’ll be interesting to see if PD fixes this or not.

That all said, and we don’t mean to throw EA under the bus here, but this could very well be the best NASCAR game to come along for fans in years, and that’s saying a lot considering this isn’t a full-fledged NASCAR game. While 8 cars on track seems a bit low, we’ve also been promised heavy damaging to these cars so it would make sense that the developers needed to limited what was on screen. Whether these are the final numbers, only PD know, so we’ll have to wait until November 2nd to find out.

instead of taking advantage of the delay to further develop it?

Oh, I just thought...imagine that although the game has the Top Gear track in it, if PD didn't include the Kia Cee'd or even either of the Chevrolet's!

That could be...awkward.

Man... that really would be a buzz kill! Can't wait to see the GTP lap board.
But I guess we could come up with a "reasonable priced car" of our own if needed.

Wouldn't be hard to find something suitably miserable, there will need to be a default test set anyway, tyres and settings etc.

Yes but no chance to "really" compare yourself to the Maverik! ...or Cameron.

...point. Maybe we should NOT get those cars so we don't go comparing anything that may look embarrassing ;)
