it wont, the shadows are accurate, the problem is in the trees, the leafs are pixelated like that

EESH that hurts, they should polish that up because its really ugly! Game looks amazing in every sense, but seeing those shadows , theyre so out of place.

I really don't think that is within the capabilities of the PS3's hardware. Hell I don't think my core i7 and 1gb ati could do that. It doesn't look pretty, but I think we're just going to have to deal with it.

I'd love to see Mugello in GT5. Mugello, Spa... just need Mont Tremblant and all my favourite tracks from Ferrari Challenge would be in the game.

My wish too!

Well the rods on the windshield also give jaggy shadows on the dashboard, and they certainly aren't pixelated.

see, that video (above of monza) tells me that some things have not changed enough with GT5

how BADLY is that cpu driver into the first corner? why isnt the cpu braking late like the user if they can get around the corner just as easily?

theres no way with equal cars and a rolling start that within a 3 lap race you should be able to get to the front, without exceptional driving.

all i see on GT (unfortunately) is the CPU being dog slow for 80% of the events. if u can keep on the track and drive reasonably well, you can almost guarantee that you wil win.

wheres the challenge in that?

Maybe its on easier difficulty?

some cars have that others dont but the leafs shadows are the same on every car

Because it's an Arcade mode so the AI clearly isn't much aggressive!and who cares about AI you can have the human one playing online!

I'm guessing people who don't play online like me and I'm sure there are more of us. Don't know why, but playing something online has never had any appeal to me.

I'm just glad to hear the racing modification is finally making a return after 10 years. I'm no longer bummed out about having no livery editor. :)
NOOOOOOOO@OOOO!111!! :(

But I'm already getting over it. ;) Race Mod was a feature in the first two games I enjoyed greatly, and I'm really looking forward to the improvements PD added. Surely there will be a few. I'm hoping there will also be a Tuner Mod, making lightly to heavily upgraded complete packages such as we got with the GT Concept cars in Prologue. Every tuner maker such as Amuse and Mopar should have a Tuner car package for numerous cars, and I'm hoping for Tuner races as well. Oh well, Livery Editor for GT6...?

I'm puzzled as to why so many are doing the happy dance over Monza. It's like Midfield with a couple of kinks. I'm sure that's why it's the starter track for GTR Evo and Ferrari Challenge. But I understand that there's quite the racing heritage with that track, and I am glad to see it in. I'd much rather see Mugello, Hockenheim, Spa, Brands Hatch and Batthurst, personally, among numerous others.

Frankly, I'm amazed at what has been revealed. And to think there's more to come! I expect that even more will be unveiled at TGS. A full featured Course Creator?! This is what I've been lobbying for, and I'm glad that even a basic version is in. The physics and especially the particle effects are looking amazing! I don't know how many can understand how badly this can bog down a computer. PD must have worked some magic to have such extravagant effects in these demos.

Still looking forward to the Standard cars. I have little doubt that most of my favorite rides are going to be Standards. And honestly, I can see why there are "so few" Premiums with all the work Kazunori sensei and his amazing team have put into this masterpiece. It's almost like what Toca 4 or 5 could have been, but much better! But there is this:

EESH that hurts, they should polish that up because its really ugly! Game looks amazing in every sense, but seeing those shadows , theyre so out of place.
Those tree shadows are a bit grating, very pixellated, sharp, and even strobing with the way they flicker over the cars. I'm hoping PD has a blur routine which can smooth that out without much of a performance hit, but I'm sure they have something in the works. Most likely, they haven't even reached the polishing stage, or are just starting on it.

I still can't get over the fact that there is more to come! If this isn't Game of the Year, then there is no intelligent life in the gaming media.

Oh, one more note. With so many of my ideas already in GT5, I think Kaz should seriously consider having the driver views adjustable and able to be placed where we want in Front, Roof, Cockpit and Chase. This will make everyone super happy.

There was higher AI difficulties available. Watch all the videos and you will see they are much more human.

I suggest you get online with many GTPers. It should be great.

Ya same here,I tried once with FM3 but I kept getting rammed off the track.:ouch::mad:🤬

I second that , I would really love a adjustable FOV , the FOV in GT5 is still wrong :( especially in chasecam. I would really love to use it , but how can PD mess a chasecam up like that? It's the badest chasecam that I know so far in any racing game :( and the roofcam in the gameplay looks also bad.. the replay one from the TT Demo was way way better !! because you see way more of the car.
I'd like to have the chasecam closer to the car , rotating and a right FOV because it's zoomed in and makes it look damn slow :grumpy:

Private lobbies in GT5 should solve that ;)
Yes, but playing spontaneously is difficult without a huge friends list.

A more open approach would be public lobbies, either password protected or led by a host that can ban unfair players.

Having NOT played any other racing games, i do not have any reference of Chase cams...

I must be one of the rare ones around, but i believe i am so used to GT5-P chase cam now that you love it...

i dont see anything wrong with it... it feels fast and realistic enough. At least it does not have an artificial feel to it like NFS Shift or Forza 3.

I really hope that they dont screw/ mess it up, if they ever decide to change it... and if they change it, might as well make everyone happy by allowing people to change/modify/choose their preferred perspective AND looseness of the chase cam.

This should not be hard to implement... would be like the photomode camera where you can adjust your FOV. (Frame of View?)

Field of View

Someone mentioned Fields of View in Famine's GamesCom donation thread, and I thought it was a good idea, too. However, it's since occurred to me that the FoV setting controls a lot of things, graphically, particularly how much stuff is on the screen for a given scene. A console, owing to it's fixed(ish) hardware allows games to be very finely tuned for performance, changing the FoV will upset that! :scared:

Still, if the performance optimisations are any good, it'll take into account how much "stuff" is currently on screen and adjust accordingly (e.g. LoD, mip-levels, shadow detail, distant scenery etc.)

I'd like an adjustable FOV, just in case the cockpit view is as useless (for me ;)) in GT5 proper as it was in GT5:P. I also like the idea of permanent servers (lobbies) running for private clients / groups of clients to make use of. E.g. we could get a dedicated GTP server... It might just be someone's PS3 plugged into the wall, running GT5 on a dummy account, but hey...

Race Mods:
Wasn't it worded carefully? That is, Race Mod Menu. Would that mean there's more to it than simply pressing a button and the car is transformed into a racing-sled?

We're still waiting on word about the new customisation features, so it probably ties into that, along with the tuned cars from 5 Prologue and the assorted demos since.
What's the betting that only Premium cars will get a Race Mod Menu?

Yes, but's it won't be possible to transfer all cars into race cars, only selected few because there was not enough time to make it possible on all.

And a livery editor was already denied today.

oh i have been on GT:P at one point i won 3 consecutive races in a GTR on the japanese course, it was amazing,

but you still have to completele the single player of GT5 for credits and cars and prize cars. it just feels that you are either set an impossible goal i.e beat such and such ferrari that is already 1 min 30 ahead of u by drafting and best avoiding mobile chicanes littered around the circuit travelling curiously slower than you are, despite being in as powerful a car...

you are in effect racing yourself, trying to get around these traffic blockers as best as possible as opposed to actually racing the computer it has seemed to me.

on others eventually it becomes a chore just lapping at the head of the pack after the first lap, where u bashed your way to the front - struggling to concentrate because no-one is hassling you for the next 2 laps so u either fall off the track and have to repeat the process or win and move on vowing never to do that again unless u really need the dollar!

i always loved the DTM tournament though, because the cars were literally equal in performance and felt a bit racier it always used to be a fun fight and sometimes a genuine struggle if u not on it from the start. thatsd the kind of experience i want, just in all car races not just in one 8 race tournament.

Not really, FOV can be implemented without problems I think but if they have that option, which I don't think they will. It will only be in cockpit view. They should have another chase cam also more angles is better but I will use cockpit view. Regarding that cool video at Monza. Really like it and yes you can outbrake the AI in most racing games in chicanes and have more speed at straight line. It is not a problem. Hope it depends on difficult level. Some arcade games have super AI which can become impossible to catch

In GT4 some of us would actually chose cars to make the otherwise easy races a challenge. Some weren't happy until they got 200 A-spec points.

Seems to me that your contradicting yourself...
Either that, or you just being very specific about what you like in Racing...

Because in your post, you have just described three different ASPECTS of any (automobile) racing challenges, which, all three (among others), are integral part of the skills a race car driver should master...

How can you not appreciate those different types of challenges?

Especially racing against your own self, which, in reality, is almost impossible...
you learn and you improve... that's the real plus in this game!
Seriously... i think you are missing the important point from this game.

Guilty 👍👍

I've been slaving at work for the last 2 days and finally got to check out the new info..........

wow...just wow!

Our A-spec hunt may be a bit harder this time around.👍
