It's more like 100 fps IIRC.

The human visual system does not see in terms of frames; it works with a continuous flow of light information.[citation needed] A related question is, “how many frames per second are needed for an observer to not see artifacts?” However, this question also does not have a single straight-forward answer. If the image switches between black and white each frame, the image appears to flicker at frame rates slower than 30 FPS. In other words, the flicker-fusion point, where the eyes see gray instead of flickering tends to be around 60 Hz. However, fast moving objects may require higher frame rates to avoid judder (non-smooth motion) artifacts—and the retinal fusion point can vary in different people, as in different lighting conditions. The flicker-fusion point can only be applied to digital images of absolute values, such as black and white. Where as a more analogous representation can run at lower frame rates, and still be perceived by a viewer. For example, motion blurring in digital games allows the frame rate to be lowered, while the human perception of motion remains unaffected. This would be the equivalent of introducing shades of gray into the black–white flicker.

i just remembered that stunt arena was mentioned with the track editor and go karts. So does anyone think it will also be revealed or saved for gt6

Only thing we know so far about damage is that body parts will move out of position and small dents will appear. So far we have no reason to expect major damage.

oh ok, thanks

Erm, weren't we told that premium cars could actually desintegrate (not literally of course)

We were told that parts could deform and fall off.

We have already seen doors, hoods etc. falling off WRC cars. I don't think we've seen any parts falling off any other types of car.

Pardon me if it's been mentioned before, but are those turn signal indicators beside the gear indicator?

Hmmmm... the banner on the official GT website says "more updates on their way". I wonder if I am interpreting that correctly?

http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/

Does it tell us about a date for the updates?

Kidding, nice, maybe more to come before TGS, bring it. :D

Well I have been stupidly holding out hope for a trailer. Though I am not getting my hopes up.

One thing that led me to believe the updates would be soon is that the banner is part of the "Gamescom 2010" portion of the banner. Plus its to early for them to advertise new updates at TGS (in my opinion).

But who knows...:indiff:

I was thinking it's in October for some reason. Good to know it's sooner than I thought.

September 16 I believe! Less than a month away. 👍

I really really hope they'll implement some sort of trackday mode for the nurburgring, where a lot of traffic is put on track in different speed classes. With regard to the 16 car-on-track limit, perhaps they could unload & remove cars that you passed, say a minute ago, and respawn a new car in front of you. *ahh, keeps on dreaming*

I honestly think they should like.. increase LOD models for things like Nascar and nurburgring. You wont see them constantly, so no need to render them in their 500k poly glory. I'd love to have a multi-class race.

Was GT 4 60 fps.

Yes.

That is true, but IF you were to be able to see "frames" the "average" person can see around up to 70 or so. Beyond that is irrelevant and cannot be detected by the human eye. Of course it varies from person to person. For example, most florescent lights, I can see flicker. Other people can't. I usually lock my games at 70fps if I can.

Im just gunna throw this out there. I'm not happy with how for away the chase cam is in GT5P, and if it's like that in GT5, I'll be disappointed. I liked GT4's chase cam just fine. Why the change?

Any one seen realistic Vtec kick in on the hondas yet? The Integra in prologue had realistic sound but it lacked the infamous "V-tech Yo" step up. If GT5 has that, then I'll be in heaven lol. The Zonda's sound does seem good albeit questionable due to the nature of the recording. Oh well who cares now we've got skidmarks and reverse lights

I know theres a definate change in engine note for the Integra on the psp... Im also sure I heard Kaz himself comfirm theyve got the VTEC valve change in there when he did that Q&A on honda twitter... so sounds like you get your wish to me...

funnily my friend used to has a type r integra and the sound when it got into vtec was awesome

VSYNC never was a problem neither in GT5 Prologue nor GT5 recent builds.

It's not uncharted 1 case where 40% of picture was unsynced (still looked v good):yuck:

V-sync(->tearing) is a problem in GT5P. My eyes don't lie ;). It's pretty obvious if you come back from playing a certain v-synced game.
Some people just don't notice it. For them it's no problem but for others (like me) it is.
According to the recent 60fps videos the situation hasn't changed much.

I'll just complain enough to get this fixed for GT6 .
Didn't all previous GT games run at 60fps? It's a good thing Kaz\PD are pushing it to stay close to 60 rather then lock it at 30 to achieve better "visuals" or whatever Criterion is aiming to achieve with the new NFS.
GT does 60fps since GT3. GT1 had a small 60fps bonus mode.
Burnout is such a nice 60fps game but Criterion left all their glory behind and uses 30fps for NfS :grumpy:.

Yep tearing is quite present in GT5P. With a full grid and cockpit view it's a tearing fest with noticeable frame rate slowdown also. Sometimes even when driving alone you'll get some tearing.

I'm hoping it's a least somewhat minimized in GT5.

I always race with cockpit view, have played a full 16 car race, and have never seen tearing, once.
Neither have I seen a noticeable decrease in frame rate.

Add: In fact, I think we shouldn't say GT5 has tearing from youtube videos either. Unless you have actually gone down to Cologne to see it for yourself.

Same here, but I'm not sure about framerate.

Race in any full grid race at High Speed Ring, pay attention to the screen when the cars are braking and thus bunching up for the left hander at the S-turn, tearing happens frequently in that spot, and I must say, it's very noticeable.

Sorry, I don't think I have, But Il give it a go tonight..

As for a glitch of any sort related to tearing or frame-rate/freezing in GT5. prologue, I haven't really seen one. Maybe its the consoles themselves (I play on a fairly new PS3 slim). Like this video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1PMb1ZkyUs .Hopefully thats what you mean by tearing (Although, I wouldn't expect it to be on that level)

Tearing occurs a lot on the London track in GT5P.

I have a good idea for a discussion. So we know things like NASCAR and Karting will be making their first appearances in the GT series. But which other motorsports would you like to see eventually join the series? For instance, I think Drag racing would be pretty cool.

Drag racing would be a good addition, but that would mean that all the dynamics would have to be recreated (super-sticky drag tires, wheelies and wheelie bars, burnouts, rules, the christmas tree, starts, etc). By the way it seems that PD visited a drag strip during their trip(s) in the USA: Bandimere Raceway. I wonder if that means there will be drag racing sooner or later.

The assassins creed video is not tearing. It's some kind of glitch, apparently the guy's PS3 was overheating according to one of his comments.

The grid video is exactly what I get in GT5P. It's quite regular when I have about 3 or more cars in front. I do have a somewhat old PS3 (80GB MSG4 Bundle) but that shouldn't be the cause.

It's not a game breaking problem, but it is quite annoying.

Sorry, doesn't change my point. A racing game can still look good at 30FPS & several games prove that. There's nothing more to discuss beyond that.

Surely it can look good at 30fps but it will look even better at 60fps and there is really nothing to discuss beyond that...Racing game is a "motion-enhanced" game - more fps = really better.

Sorry man but it tear a lot.Fuji speedway first corner is most oblivious one.(Especially in Ford GTLM cockpit). In fact it tear even at car selection menu with one car on screen.Try to choose S2000 and watch when camera comes close).
And we can judge from youtube videos - if youtube skips a frame - it skips full frame - GT skip frames too, but it not synchronized and looks like one part of the image on top - other on bottom.Although GT5 tears much less than GT5P...

Lol I almost never get tearing... either that or I just do not notice it. IMO in order of worse to ok: frame rate drops>aliasing>bad textures>tearing

I have a newish PS3 slim and a fresh copy of GT5P and I have noticed screen tearing. Does it matter if you have an HD compatible TV? My display runs at 1080P and I have noticed screen tearing. Not just GT5P but other games as well.
