What if they had extra gt5 discs layin around when it went platinum so just re-sleeved the case and sent them out.

Maybe a later redesigned disc is in the works.

I have GT5 platinum, bought it for christmas 2011. The numbers on the box and disc match exactly, i mean there is /P in the end, and also has platinum written on it with yellow decoration. Can't post pictures right now, maybe tomorow. ... But I think you have nothing to worry about.

So, does the platinum version game come preloaded with later releases such as v2.0?

Yeah, but that is for NTSC market. I have epic game loading issues and I'm working through fixes to try and improve things. I'm on my second HD and before I commit or, if I commit to another PS3, I wanted to try a new disc.

I have to reformat my HD quite often to keep things going and I started to wonder if the disc might play apart. The console plays Blue Rays ok and it's cleaned often so it is my next line enquiry. I have seen a cheap and 'wrapped' platinum's on Ebay but, I am sick of having to DL +/-300GB every time I want to reinstall GT5.

This thread is from January. There won't be anything new on those disks. The Platinum was just the Greatest Hits equivalent of Europe, so basically a stock/original disk, nothing new.

It doesn't look like my Platinum Edition disc. Mine has a yellow lower half to the disc with a yellow band saying Platinum on it.
