I can't believe how people get so frustrated by the recently released information! After years of waiting finally GT5 is upon us. Halleluja! Most of the people here forget that they spend nearly everyday at gtplanet, hoping for some new information. After years of little bits being released, everyone is mad that that's it! How ignorant, basically everybody who's whining about GT5 is asking for a constant feed of new undiscoverd content, while we've been painstakingly getting news from the most unreliable sources.

-GT5 shows up at Hockenheim, oh it must be in the game then! No it doesn't
-Someone mentions Spa will be featured in the GT-academy, it must be in then! No it doesn't, it was Indianapolis and Spa has never been shown.
-Dynamic wheater was mentioned but not on all tracks. So what's the deal.
I can go on for hours, but I won't. I'm just sick of all these people waiting for a truly beautifull racing game. A game many of us bought a PS3 for. Now we can finaly play the game in about 2 weeks. Just enjoy the real online competitions, the trackcreator, the ferrari's, the Lamborgini's, the maserati, The day-and-night-transitions, the 16 cars on track, the karting, the topgear testtrack, the real rally races.

I beg you, get some sense people this game is going to be wonderfull. It's not Kaz' fault your expectations grew and grew everyday for the last couple of years.

I bid you all farewell, because for the next two years I will not visit Gt-Planet, because it ruins gran turismo for me. I'll see you guys online in one off the best racing games ever to be produced.

Another sound and positive person, thats what makes this forum enjoyable. Glad someone appreciates like me the hard work and dedication of this gaming masterpeice, imagine what it will look like on HD with surround sound, over 1,000 cars, nobody i mean nobody can fill a blue ray like PD. End of story

I'm going to say 8/10 from Game Informer and 10/10 from PSN Magazine. Forza damage and customization clearly shizzes on GT5. GT5 still wins though because it has 1000+ cars, better physics, dynamic weather/time (kind of), and highly-detailed Premium cars.

I never said it had less tracks. I think it's a step back because although some new elements were added, some features were taken out.

GT3 took features out that were in GT2, and many consider GT3 their favorite.

Just like every Gran Turismo release, GT5 will be, in most ways, the best entry in the series yet.

There is absolutely no way this game will get below a 9/10. Anyone who thinks that does not deserve the work and effort that has gone into this game. 👎

This.

It has so much variety, content and quality. 9/10 or at worst 8/10.

At E3, Gamescom it also got best game award if I remember correctly

I can see the general review score around 9.5 , im pretty sure that most of the critics will go for the hype and they wont put much emphasis on the standard cars or the cutted tracks or the lackluster damage.

From what i have seen and know about the game il give it a 8.9 if everything else works amazing, if the online is spectacular it could go up to 9.1 , both are good scores for a game with this type of problems (GT4 was 8.0 for me).

If the lack of cars and tracks turns out to be real this game is definitely not going to be rated 9-10/10

200-1000 cars and was it 27 tracks? It is plenty compared to other racing games. It's too little only for us here.

Okay....

What features were removed? And please don't mention the standard car/wheel change thing. That's open for interpretation and not proven yet.

Why ???!!! :ouch:
please tell me a game with more than 27 tracks.
please tell me a game with more than 1000 cars. if don`t count Forza , tell me a game with more than 200 cars.
:banghead:

From what I know Kaz said that they had to remove some features from GT5 and save for GT6. Either that was because of the blu-ray being full or just the PS3 that couldn't handle it, what features exactly nobody knows except PD.

Other games doesnt have the 6 years, 80 million dollars and GT name on them, and they dont have that type of hype either.
And by the way, Test Drive Unlimited 2 is going to have more than 200 cars and 2 whole islands to drive around.

About the tracks, you are forgeting that this game lose lots of tracks since GT4.

GT5 is releasing 4ys after PS3 was released. About the budget no one actually knows and it is none of our business that is Sony problem how much they want to spend  The game has more content, features and quality not only to other racing games but any video game.

Should we play the game & enjoy or compare a game to production & budget ?
if TDU2 has even 220 cars , GT5 has more.

GT2 had 650 cars & 27 tracks. GT3 had 150 cars & 20 tracks. is GT2 better than GT3 ?

The naysayers are out in force I see. It is quite amazing coming from a bunch of people who have not even played the game yet. If you think Forza is a better game by all means go and play that instead. If you think any other racing game is better that's fine. I will actually wait to pass judgement after I have played the game. All of this "I wanted these cars in the game instead" and "they didn't put this track in" is amazing. If you want those things in YOUR game go find the money, start your own game development studio and make a game with those features. Until then pick which ever game makes you happy and play it. Stop whining about things that NO ONE EVER PROMISED YOU and get on with your lives.

Who gives a stuff, I would have been happy with GT5P if they included more tracks and 'standard' GT upgrades.

If anything the review scores will be based on how the arcade (standard) physics works and most of us don't give a hoot about being able to break the laws of physics.

Also remembering that all GT games are keepers, you play, you play more, you stop playing, but you always go back!

This is what I was afraid of, the hype monster has created unrealistic expectations for GT5 and now theres people who are already determined to not like it before they've even played it.

I love the people who feel like game developers personally owe them something. No, it's a product, like any other. If you're not satisfied with it, then don't buy it.

I'm going to wait until I have actually played it to pass judgement on it, but considering I've gotten many many hours of enjoyment out of Prologue, which only has 70 something cars and 12 tracks, I highly doubt I will not enjoy GT5.

of course, it ***** me to tears and i have high hopes that gt doesnt provide the same idiot proofness to pad users that forza does, same reason i dont race fm online anywhere near as much as id like to.

I have a deep passion for building and driving my own machines, i have always built my own street cars, usually have atleast 1 or 2 projects im building at any one time and i love to play with road cars, not so much race cars. to me so far forza more fills my wants list in a sim that will keep my coming back, it does have a good solid physics engine and a list of cars and customisation that keeps me coming back. i enjoy my pc sims quite a bit, but they just dont seem to hold my interest for tens of hours on end like fm/gt can with the ability to buy a car, select the parts i feel will work well together then spend hours and hours fine tuning it on a track ect.then moving onto another car and seeing if i can get that quicker around the same track with similar levels of modification ect. i used to spend probably 4-5 hours per day doing this in gt4, and near the same amount in fm3. the reason i made such a large investment into fm last year. and its not a bad game, yes it does have an absolute crap load of bugs, and it did feel very incomplete when it was released. and it still has a list of things as long as my arm that are wrong with it. but if you choose not to play online, and just hot lap against yourself and build your own cars and enjoy it that way....most of these issues dont even appear. i have big hopes for gt to take the place of forza and i have even bigger hopes for it to pick up and stand tall where forza fell flat on its face. im just finding so many seemingly small things that will be harder to ignore even if just playing by yourself. i have made a huge investment into gt5 aswell, the only reason i own a ps3 is gt5..the reason i got my first g25 was in preperation for gt5, i just recently purchased a 3d tv, the main reasin being that i want to experience gt5 in 3d and i will certainly be investing in a pseye so i can make use of head tracking aswell. i am neither a forza fanboy, nor a gt fanboy...i am a car nut that wants to capture the experience of what i enjoy about cars in a sim. its cheaper, safer and it certainly saves me from constantly losing my drivers licence :). from the new information im seeing surface about gt5 tho, there are just so many little things to be disappointed about, especially for something that has taken so long to make. and especially when i have invested thousands of dollars in preperation for it, while dealing with forzas shortcomings, hoping gt would be the greener feild on the other side of the fence. forgive me for feeling a little disappointed. :)

anyway..my previous post intended to highlight the fact that there is infact a wheel that can be used for forza, and it happens to be one of the best wheels on the market obviously excluding the super big money wheels like the frex or the ecci wheels.

I hear you. Much the same here. I love to mess around with the cars. Games which do not allow you to purchase and upgrade the cars never hold my interest long but games like GT and Forza give me what I need. It is unfortunate that FM3 turned into basically a hot lapping game but really that is about the only thing I enjoy at this point other than building and tuning the cars. The online racing in Forza 2 was so much better.

I am a little dissapointed to see certian tracks missing from the list but I am sure I will love the game once I get it.

I to bought my PS3 just for GT5 just as I bought the 360 for FM2 and the PS2 just for GT4. I also just purchased a 911 Turbo S wheel so I could use it on both systems replacing the MSwheel and DFGT that I already had just for these games so I have a fair amount of cash invested as well.

Once we get the game I think we will find plenty of stuff that is to our liking and with a little luck we may even get some DLC down the road. Let's just enjoy the game and see what it truly has to offer.

I'm in the beta test for TDU2 and it is awful. I can see why it was delayed into next year because if it came out in September like it was suppose to, no one would have bought it. The whole thing is an absolute mess.

Haven't even looked into TDU2 but I have played TDU. I did not like it at all. Also have played former TD games on the PC but have not liked any of them.

I don't understand why on the official track list El Capitan is not listed, but on the trailer there's an Enzo driving around the circuit?
Also Chamonix is not on the list but I'm sure there will be snow events, so maybe there are more than 27 tracks?

Weird thing is that the PSP version was the best version. It lacked bikes but was a lovely pick up and play game.

You're overestimating the importance of those things. The only people that even remotely care about things like that are the folks on this board. Reviewers aren't going to complain about things like that.

Yeah, I'm going to miss Spa, for example, but I'd bet that over 99% of Americans don't even know that it's a race track and not a massage parlor.

Sorry to say, but we are NOT the majority. Nowhere close.

Reviews don't mean **** anyways (and this is coming from someone who reviews games for a gaming website). A lot of people are still going to enjoy this game. GT5 Prologue was just a glorified demo that cost $40. Guess how many copies it sold? 4.5 million. The Gran Turismo name is enough to sell it and that is all that matters. Most people don't pay attention to the internet and don't care for things like cockpit views. They are going to look at 1000 cars and be excited, they could careless that the car list is padded.

The problem is that many won't see what GT is all about even 10 years after the first GT was released.

People see Forzas carlist or NfS: HPs damage and tracklists from other racing games. But GT is not about european supercars or crash tests, it's about the details and the driving ifself that makes GT that good.
I've never missed supercars on a level where I would say I won't buy GT anymore if they don't put them in. Now they are in and it's a nice addition. Damage is also an addition that is welcomed, but I never really thought GT has to have it. When I play Forza I hardly crash against a wall or other cars and if, it's just a bump that leads to some scratches, not more. So why bother spending another year for a full damagesystem instead of putting the effort into something else, something for fundemental that fits GT better, like...

- weather
- day/night circle
- new licencies (Nascar/Rally) -> variety

What I want to say is that GT is not a game for kids to crash others out of bounce or into the next best wall chased by the police.
It's a game that's about driving and that why I love it and that's why I give the game a 10 out of 10, because at the end of the day

I am still my own best reviewer!

I think you shouldn't have any say in it being disappointing until you actually sit down and play it for yourself. I honestly think we have hardly seen what GT5 has to offer with a few YouTube videos uploaded by people who rarely visit this site. These "lists" mean nothing to me. It all comes down to the fun factor of actually playing the game, which none of us have.

People should not be posting their own reviews right now if you do not own the game. You're just making useless assumptions.

This... 👍

Yes i also can see along with others that the negative/grumpy ones are alive and well, i am going to enjoy it and review it on my own terms, not some gaming website, its me who matters and how much i enjoy it, the in my mind will be amazing and all the naysayers will be like little kids on xmas on the 24th, saying omg omg its best thing in world, just watch. This is the ultimate game and we will get to experience it soon enough. Heres to the postive ones.
