crashing in the night and taking out ur lights=ur screwed?

It's just that it's a bit late for any improvements for 800+ standard cars. We can only hope. :)

I'm still curious what he means by "improved".

Personally I'm expecting normal cars to receive a "premium" bodywork if there's at least one premium car of the same model in a different trim/version.
For example [premium] Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nur (R34) -> all other standard R34 GT-R get a premium exterior.

I admit there's absolutely no indication that this will be the case however, but still, I'll be a bit disappointed if PD won't take this very easy shortcut to upgrade many standard cars to something more visually pleasing :)

What would be the point of that as it would be a small step I guess to just make them full Premium with interior as well ( aka replace them with the base Premium car model )?
They're differently modelled so if they went to the trouble of applying the Premium level of exterior modelling to the "duplicate" Standard cars, if that's even technically possible, why wouldn't they just use the complete Premium model if the detail differences between these models are neglectable?
They either chose to have similar cars both available as Standard and Premium ( with whatever that actually implies for gameplay ) as does seem to be the case ( remember both versions of the classic Camaro? ) or only have one car as either Standard or Premium.
I don't think any Premium/Standard hybrid or combination is either logical or technically feasible.

Hmm I wonder about all the movies on the blu-ray, will they also be available in 3D?? I don´t think so, if so, they must film all the course infos and other movies (we´ve seen in prologue) with an 3D cam like in avatar... But wasn´t that an Sony cam? So it can also be possible :) hmm let´s see...

3D bluray movie update coming in October

Look what I found.

Unfortunately it's a mockup :ouch:.

Because while the exterior might have small differences, the interior might change much, and at that level changing small external body features would be easier than modeling new seats, dashboards, trim, etc in an accurate way. It's also much easier to get reference material for the exterior than the interiors, which often require ad-hoc photo shoots. Try asking any car amateur 3d car modeler.

So, most "upgraded" standard cars might get premium bodies, but with blackened windows as no accurately modeled interiors would exist. Note that there already are some examples of this: the GT-R Proto in GTHD and the Lancer Evo X in the GT5P demo (they didn't have interiors modeled, but their exterior was).

Of course, I stress, this is all speculation of mine.

That Camaro might be old footage showing the "standard car" concept. After all, if most GTPSP cars are to appear in GT5, many of them (especially non-japanese cars) will just have to show PS2-gen detail as the possibility that different versions of them won't be re-modeled as premium is high (example: Jay Leno Tank Car. There are no other versions available. If it doesn't get remodeled as Premium, then only the existing standard model can be used).
I don't think any Premium/Standard hybrid or combination is either logical or technically feasible.
I disagree. Not only it's technically very feasible, especially now that cars are made in a more traditional and correct way, promoting reusability and modularity (detachable panels, bumpers, hoods, features, wings, etc), but it's also very logical in my opinion.

Of course, as always, we'll see soon if this will be the case.

He's talking about the videos on the GT5 disc, like GTTV stuff.

Its related to 3d movie support update. You cay Movie these GT videos

I think PD will show a new build with working course maker, weather, day and night, a slection of cars and the ability to view the dealership so you can see all the cars in the game.

GT4 cars were modeled in a single block. I only hope they went a step further and modeled each panel separately (with a higher poly count). What's beneath those panels was never modeled, so we won't see those parts falling off, but we could replace the separate panels with after market ones.

The screen with the carbon bonnet goes in that direction, anyway. So yeah, I'd like them standards to be given a closer look.

Then you'd have a premium car! :sly: I don't expect the standard cars to have as many customisation options as the premium ones (since we already know that only premium cars will have full damage), although I'd like to be proven wrong...

First off that GT-R Proto is a bad example as it's common knowledge around here by now the real car hasn't got an interior so it couldn't be modelled in the first place.
If a car is almost similar or a duplicate this isn't exclusive to the exterior in real life, the interiors of these cars are also largely similar apart from colour, materials used or different seats and steering wheel, etc. perhaps, but the dashboard doesn't necessarily need to be remodelled ( maybe a few dials added in some cases ).
The interior already modelled would therefore only need slight alterations and I think if they'll might spend time upgrading Standard cars with Premium exteriors like you suggested it would be far logical to assume they might spend that time creating those interior changes as these cars could also be used in future GT's, aka future proofing and time and resources better spend.

I know I'm kinda daydreaming, here... They said they re-modeled every standard cars to PS3 level. With the material at hand, doing things part by part is not only logical but also efficient. And you still end with a standard car.

Premiums have cockpits, engine bays, boots, chassis modeled as well as the parts covered by other panels. That's why bumpers can be dislodged and we don't (won't ?) see nothing but a black shape under it.

Standards built this way would still be standards with no cockpit, or panels separation, but still usable as GT5 cars with the level of customization / upgrade the Premiums will have.

I'll wait patiently for answers on this matter... On Thursday, or in November. I'd like (or loooooove) to be right, but I can handle being wrong too.

The example was simply to show that cars with a premium body but no interior modeling and blackened windows have already been used in the past.

You're right that if PD take the time to change exterior small details they also could model interior changes too in order to future proof those cars, but in my opinion that's something that could be done at a later time (for GT6?). Personally I would rather have a compromise with upgraded "semi-premium" cars (where possible, of course - when they share most of the body with existing premium cars) with no interiors than only standard PS2-gen models because interior changes must be modeled too, taking additional time (at the very least doubling the work needed). Standard models wouldn't have an interior anyway.

in my country the tgs begin on 15 not on 16...

Help me out here.
When will we be seeing news, buisness days or public days?

Help me out here.
When will we be seeing news, buisness days or public days?

Probably both.

The actual Sony conference starts at 9pm PST tomorrow (1pm local Tokyo time on the 16th), and PD has their own little chunk of allotted time, so we should see a lot of info come out of that, along with the smaller stuff pouring out from people who play the machines after or get private interviews.

Edit-

Just noticed you're in the UK...check this list for when it's on for you:

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclo...9&day=16&year=2010&hour=13&min=0&sec=0&p1=248

When the public can enter on the 18th and 19th, that's when the demo footage will be pouring in.

But as far as big details regarding GT5 news (weather, customization, etc), Thursday should be the day. ;)

The official Gran Turismo site will be updated like it was during E3 2010 and Gamescom 2010 with a recap of the revelations. The last of the big three pieces will be complete and we'll have a great picture of what GT5 has to offer us.

So far it looks like day/night cycle and weather will only be for endurance and rally, shame...

What kind of logic would that be? There is no reason for it to be limited only to specific races.. if the weather is in of course. Day/night transisiton we have seen only on rally stage so yes it can happen but i highly doubt it. But if i remember correctly there is an old screenshort of the GT Citroen racing at night at London track.

What happened to the 24H Ring race having day and night transitions? Was there not word of that going around?

We will see in 30 hrs 45 mins... I hate those last hrs to get what I wan´t...

I won´t even think about it, when we got october 20th or so, the last 12-13 days will be really hard for some reason, even though there are enough other things to do, your head is still fixed on this thing you are waiting for...

When do the sony conference begins though?

EDIT: Nevermind, just checked the first page :p

EDIT 2: Double fail, you were talking about the sony conference already
