Hot-lappers tend to be able to do a single good, fast lap in a stint with the rest being mediocre and full of mistakes. Long-race fans tend to be a little slower on the fast lap front, BUT, faster overall when multiple smooth, error-free laps are needed.
(And PLEASE don't flame me for these comments, it's my opinion, and I'm entitled to it! )
What about when the hotlappers slow down when they are not hot lapping?
