GT isn't AC or LMU, though.

GT's goal as a franchise is to represent decades upon decades of automotive culture, and the official multiplayer mode for the game achieves not even 5% of that. It wastes the hundreds of non-race cars we have, it wastes the real-world racing icons we have (when was the last time they used the W196 or MP4/4?) and it makes an absolute mockery of the franchise's own legendary cars. Gr.3 and Gr.4 are not exciting enough to warrant 99% of an entire game mode being dedicated to them.
I agree 100% and I truly hope they take the "meeting" places and turn them into multiplayer races. I'd be happy with co-op events in the single player, where the bulk of the field is Sophy with a few real people mixed in.

The game absolutely needs to use it's catalogue better. I'd love to see custom races go co-op multiplayer. I worked hard to make a balanced Sophy race and it's unreasonable to expect the bulk of the community to do the same, so how about allowing me to be a host of one of my custom races, and others can select from the cars I've tuned.

Sport Mode has it's competitive space, but the game needs more multiplayer. Co-op races would latch on to the PvE trend.

Hey guys,

Bit of advice if possible please for the beginner 😬😬😬

I seem to have reached my limit at race B this week with a 1.43.195.

How do you guys analyze where you’re losing pace and then work on getting it back?
it’s easy but you have to look a little inward.

For Catalunya it’s about coasting, T3 is carry just enough speed and when the orange barrier gets just before your centre of the screen accelerate.

The rest is the same, brake coast, early power but a lot of time is in the hairpin if you just wait a fraction you’ll accelerate stronger, then brake downshift coast, wait for the orange barriers and go.

Personally I don’t enjoy the circuit as I don’t think is racing conductive for mere mortals like us.

If you want not that you have asked, but it’s a circuit that loves smoother braking and coasting with 3 technical bits.

If you want time you’ll find it in less attacking the last corner and timing to exit the second corner, T3 is the place to really make time but the rest of the lap is technical so 6/7 🤣

Did 5 races C today: Started the day with a P9 start and finish. During lap 1 everyone just pushed me aside and I was P14. Because they did the same to everyone else I could recover.

After that I had a P2 and a P4 (both from around P5/P6 on the grid) because the melee wasn't focused on me. Especially the P2 was a Sunday's drive. Later another P4 from P4 on the grid. My best drive was this:

hoppa.webp

Also started P4. P2 and P3 were bumping each other a bit so I could take P2 in lap 1. The guy that finished 2nd had a much quicker quali lap (by 0.5 seconds) but he was driving while looking in his mirrors: extremely defensive, weaving on the straights, sometimes braking to late. At some point he still got 3 seconds away from me, but he made a predictable mistake in turn 3 in the last lap. Could overtake and kept my head cool with a few drivers close behind. Felt nice to win while just driving carefully, and others around me seemingly like they were hunted by lions or something.

Hi everyone, Happy New Year. I know it's late but I want anyway to wish the best to you all, hoping that you've had a wonderful end of last year. It's always good to see new members, so I'll send some friends request late in the weekend.
Glad that the procedure went well @NevilleNobody, I've just one advise: take your time and do not rush your recovery.
On the "how old?" debate I can only say that I'm still the lil boy I was at 9 years old even if I'm actually 52 now. Age has nothing to do with speed imho. What is (maybe) "lost" in terms of pure reflexes, it's gained in experience and wisdom.
@Barney Da Dog, I know how hard the situation can be seeing our beloved "fading away". The circle of life can be really awful at times.
Eventually I got the DD wheel only last Saturday due to delivery issues. I did actually a single session Sunday at Willow; easily matching my QT (actually improved by 30 millisec) . The real difference I noticed is the improvement in consistency even if I'm not yet confortable when braking cause the muscle memory is still set on the Logitech. I'm therefore very confident for the future.
Enjoy your racing week, everyone.

Have you loaded faster ghost laps and watched the faster lap guides from guys like Tidgney? That's a start, other than that make sure you are choosing a car that rotates well, Barcelona is not a big HP track, you need to rotate. Glen had some good advice, all I can add is you HAVE to hit your apexes at Barcelona, go wide and you just get soaked for time, hit your lines or you pay.

(for context, I'm at 1:41.188)

It's seat time. The more you lap it, the better. Also, as suggested in the thread, load up a faster ghost. Start with a ghost close to your time and work your way up, but it will take time.

There's time to be made up everywhere. The last two corners can make a difference of almost a second. You have to cut the second to last corner and carry as much speed as possible, I also short shift from 3rd to 4th mid corner. The last corner, grab third, get the rear a little loose, hit the apex and floor it.

Also, T1 and T2. Brake hard at the black light bar on the left side of the track, go to second, stay tight on T1, then short sift from 2 to 3 at the apex of T3 so you can exit faster.

I'm a big MOTOGP fan and I prefer watching them for race tips rather than watching cars, because you can see the effect of various lines. Here's the highlight from last year's Catalan GP and you will see that they do exactly what's needed to be fast in the game.

I will also second a lot of what @newmedia_dev said
For Catalunya it’s about coasting, T3 is carry just enough speed and when the orange barrier gets just before your centre of the screen accelerate.
Slight correction, ease up on the throttle for T3 and hug the curbing. If you have to coast, you went in too hot. Hold the throttle and then whack it open when you see that orange.
The rest is the same, brake coast, early power but a lot of time is in the hairpin if you just wait a fraction you’ll accelerate stronger, then brake downshift coast, wait for the orange barriers and go.
Ya, you really want to be on the throttle at the midpoint of the corner. For most of the infield, you have to bleed in the power to avoid the tail sliding.
Personally I don’t enjoy the circuit as I don’t think is racing conductive for mere mortals like us.
My favourite track in the game :D
If you want not that you have asked, but it’s a circuit that loves smoother braking and coasting with 3 technical bits.
Smooth braking for sure. Get used to easing off the brakes as you slow. Also, I adjust the brakes to full rear bias (+5). It prevents too much ABS interference going into the corners and makes the rear just loose enough to create tighter lines on exit.
If you want time you’ll find it in less attacking the last corner and timing to exit the second corner, T3 is the place to really make time but the rest of the lap is technical so 6/7 🤣
I already gave my two cents on this. I attack the hell out of the last turn :D

Well, if race C was already bad what would you think now that the cheaters discovered that skipping the last chicane at full throttle on the last lap can give you some positions if you are under a 4 secs gap of the peeps ahead?

I was almost robbed as you can see

Edit: and they can claim the fastest lap aswell.

Glad I stayed well clear of race C this week

Thanks Glen for the compliment. When someone, whose times with those of Barney and our Maltese friend were my benchmarks for long time before I "klickt", acknowledges that I'm fast; that"s filling my heart of joy and pride. I've therefore some advise for @NevilleNobody @brockie @DannyPorter
Follow always a ghost that is in the top 10 of global leaderbord. Before that, do not just look at his replay, study it. I make it play as a loop first, then I use the stop motion to exactly discover the braking points, trailbraking points, etc.. When found, I look for the markers that allow to start braking at that particular point. Tig's guides are already a gold mine in that regard, but some aliens differ a bit from his markers (sometimes I end up using the revs and engine noise at those points when I don't find a suitable marker). While driving you'll never look for those markers directly, you'll use your peripheral view whilst focused on where you wanna place the car (that's one of the most important habit to learn and develop for evident reasons; and why ditching visual aids is so important).
Keep the delay at 0 for the beginning. That helps to learn how to execute last corner before the start and sector 1. If or when the ghost is impeding your view cause it's too near, put it at 0.1 delay. Personally I never use the reset option. It gives me a better info on how I'm doing near the end of lap. I.e. last Friday, at Sardegna I started from a '52.8 and finished the practice at '51.6 (at '52.8 the ghost was quite far to see, at '51.6 it was already in sight). Keep the ghost delay at 0.1 till you're thinking that you'll not be able to squeeze more time, then switch to 0.2 delay to gain that time you didn't know was there to shave away. By the time you'll start to really improve (like it was for me), you'll find that you're actually almost "racing" against the ghost. Last, but not least, replicate your best lap alone (without ghost) in a series equal or major of the race's lap number (vital, otherwise there's no pace, just a "perfect" lap). If you match your ideal alone in that series of laps even being slightly slower than your best, job it's done anyway.

Edit: I'm maybe fast, but ridiculously slower at editing posts 🤣

Hey I dug out a post from Gurzu which helps me ways take some more time off, now with data logger it’s helpful to see how others brake, coast and put on the power in certain corners and this coupled with Tidge’s guide for how you should execute a lap is about all you need

But you need to out the time in too, as he’s typing to you at 4.15am ready to go racing 😆

Thanks Brockie. Offf 4.15! That’s some dedication. I’m just settling in at 8.15 here after the school run as I’m off work today so going to have a nice day of racing hopefully.

How do you use the data logger? I’ve tried to use it but can’t work out what to do.

@Voodoovaj thabk you for this - great advice. Will try and implement today.

@newmedia_dev thank you, tried a lot of this yesterday and got more consistent with my lap times but couldn’t break 43 (think I might be at my ceiling of skill at the moment). Also thank you for being generous and putting both you and so in the mere mortals catagory 😂 think we are quite far apart (at the moment 💪💪💪)

EDIT!!!!! Come on the team effort!!!!!!! In the 42’s!!!!

Well, when you have 3 boys you take the time you can squeeze in, when they sleep! Ha, I’m always up early running and stuff so it suits me,

Just do a lap, and you can add a leader board lap in too, there you can see them both lap together and you can see when he is on the power, straight line, coasting, intermittent line, and braking, zagging line.

It’s super helpful,

But I’ve been struggling with Catalunya all week, some tracks just don’t suit a style, whichever yours is. But I’ve just taken a tenth off mine by loading up a top10 time and following it and seeing his lines, braking areas etc, so just keep studying

Also, is you want want give us your psn id, most of us here are psn friends just so we can see each others lap times, that in itself is quite motivating

Haha I hear you loud and clear!!! I got two boys under 5! I get my running and cycling done in the morning before they get up and gym at lunch!!!

Then as soon as bedtime is finished I’m off to the cave for racing 😂😂😂

Ok great, going to try that out now!

Had good dose of all daily races yesterday, I prefer the Mazda 12R Race A and the Alfa's at CGV Race C as they feel fresh, C feels very DTM like which is cool! Catalunya feels the same old scphill but I got a decent result there coming 4th in the Lambo Huracan, it's fun but since I'm in lower lobbies still it may get better! Hopefully it be good also for the Manus cup come today!

Welcome back mate and HNY 😁

Man - set myself a target to grind up from D to B today.

So frustrating. It’s just grounding day!

Start in top 2 and either win from the front or get taken out at the first corner with a dive bomb and then get smashed around in the pack!!!!!

1 step forward 1 step back

Moan over! Back to the grind 😂

Well my delivery of my new QR2 arrived and I’ve got a new wheel arriving today too, I’ll be getting them wall hanging things and putting some on the wall, can’t say it makes any difference but I did improve slightly this morning

Make sure you have a go at the GTWS Manu cup today. I believe the DR weightings are higher for those than daily races.

But I guess on the flip side the loss of DR is also greater 😂😂😂

To be honest I was going to have a go but saw it was 22 laps and did 5 or 6 practice laps and was all over the place 😂

Doing race C and preparing for the Manu it's kinda having 2 jobs !:lol:

Race C is so fun Btw !

😂😂 how is the manu going?

If I hit my target today I think I am going to jump into race C tomorrow for the rest of the week

Any news on the rig delivery

I thought I'd jump back in to try to raise my DR ahead of the Manufacturers Series...lolnope, it's just the same old crap of divebombing and crowding out regardless of which race I try. I managed a 1:42.29x at Catalunya and that's barely good enough for 10th-12th in a mid-B/S lobby. It's my own fault for getting back into the bucket of crabs.

I took part in 5-7 Daily Race B's yesterday. Believe it or not, in every race I was nudged/shoved/punted off onto the grass/kitty litter. So damn frustrating.

Race C is better most of the times. I tried the Meta (155) which is way better than the G70(which I found to be the worst handling here). I wasn't very happy in the Meta & then I stumbled upon the Subaru WRX1. Not only it's a 4WD as the 155, it handles the sausage kerbs better than the 155. I'm completely at peace with this car which I never even looked at in the past.

Seems those of us in the 42's at barcelona are not as slow as i thought. Did the math and my 42.2 is within 2.5% of the fastest time in the world so pretty much at my pace ceiling. Being in A/A+ rooms is very, very tough sledding, a lot of guys within 1% of the top time. I was demoted to DRB and instantly fighting for a win vs starting P14 every race.

For whatever reason, the general pace in this game has increased over the last 12 to 18 months where most A drivers are proper fast.

Just a CSL one, I was buying the quick release 2 😉 stuff from the refurbished section because it was cheap and saw the wheel too, equally cheap,

Rig is on back order until end of February so that’s a ball ache,

How’s your Catalunya QT going? I was so damn close to a 1.41 earlier - it’ll come by the weekend I’m sure

42.699 here and I can’t get out of DR C 😂😂😂

Given up today, it’s been an absolute bloodbath. Unless I can get away at the front then it’s just waiting for someone to use me as a brake or push me off if I’m overtaking. Is B any better as I’m working hard to get there like it will solve the problems 😂

Haha always the way!! Cos things are cheap you end up getting more 😂

So annoying with the rig!!!! Would deffo of had the sub 41!!!!!

Given up on racing today, 42.699 was my best and I didn’t get close to breaking 43 after that so think the stats aligned just for that lap! I’ve gone and played Elden ring to relax as I was getting so angry with getting punted

The higher you the less movement within the field, generally. This morning I had a delightful race with 2 guys, one in front, one behind, clean as a whistle, but we started as we finished 🤨

Do you want the honest answer?

Nah but I think clumsy and dirty driving will be decreasing while the lobbies are getting quicker. But in DR B there's still a lot of people who have more ambition than car control (myself included). I think most people do want to race clean, but you're still fighting for every corner sometimes, instead of trying to work together to be quick.
