Are track limits turned off for NGP this week 🤔 🤣 I have been doing my usual lines to avoid the penalties that used to exist and I might as well have got out and pushed the car around i was that slow 🤣🤣🤣.

QT at a 2.05:7 had me starting P3 with 2 A rated drivers ahead of me. Is the participation low or something as I am barely a mid B rating. Anyway, used the G70 as I can't get to grips with the Atenza for some reason. Pretty boring race really, I could keep up with the mazda's but I couldn't get any run on them at all so I finished P3. Back to Suzuka I think 🙉

So, sure, this is last week's news, but this was a fun freakin' race and I wanted to share:

Hadn't been racing but caught Tidgney's review of Race A and couldn't resist. Love the cars, love the course. This was just one of a bunch of good racing that was on offer all weekend.

Have fun out there this week!

The limits are set low, Mercedes is drivable on exit as far as you want but you have to be back on the circuit over the astroturf.

But anecdotal using that exit has SR impacts keeping it tighter is safer.

As for the G70 I’ll say this to everyone, the Mazda is faster by magnitudes because it’s stable requires less braking and maximises exit acceleration.

I can offer some help, but it’s not a crazy car or slow car it just needs to be driven like a car not a vision car which the G70 is

Mercedes Arena as a whole seems to be open to abuse, not just the exit. I actually preferred the 458 but I just got mugged down the straights 🤣

I just cannot rotate it, no matter how early and gently I brake, I am so late on the power. I just can't get my head around what it wants, must be female.

We should do 10 mins following each other, I can show you where the lap is, and where it’s not the car it’s the approach.

Clearly the car does rotate, it does for all of the leaderboard. So it’s a you thing not a car thing.

Oh it's always a me thing.

OT: I do wish some of the meta cars in Group 3 and 4 had better sounding engines. The G70, Atenza and the Audi Group 3 sound terrible. The 911 is OK, as is the Citroen Group 4.

I give up 🤣🤣🤣 Just spent 45 minutes chasing the #1 ghost around NGP and I just am baffled as to how I am losing 1.7 seconds in the first sector alone 🙉🙉 I can match him everywhere else...well almost.
I just can't gel with this Mazda at all. Down to a 2.05.5 but I am knackered now, it's to hot to sit in my seat and the ffb is killing my shoulder

Will have another go tomorrow and try another few races 👍

Only 2 races last night, I was the lone B driver in an A room, managed to climb from p11 to p5, mostly by just keeping my nose clean. Managed to win the other race, qualified p3 and front 2 instantly got into it and ran each other off.

People are figuring out you can be a real pain in the Hyundai, it just blasts past everyone on the straights and it very hard to pass.

I'm suffering a little this week with being stuck, with my DR reset and the no-promotion situation in Race A meaning my lobbies are always the same. I'm high up on the grid, and battles aren't lasting more than half a lap because someone always just ditches into the sand never too be seen again.

Shame, they got the race length perfect for interesting racing, but those 6 laps are usually spent going around alone. It's a really fun car to drive.

You can overtake anywhere as long as both people understand how that dance happens and that it’s costing you disproportionate time there.

The reason is Suzuka sector 1 has 2 traits, an aggressive t1 transition to t2 (what trail braking excels at) and then flow where the fastest way through even in traffic is constant average speed.

So always possible to overtake there but not high race IQ
Yeah that's what I mean of course. I wasn't the fastest guy on track, but I maybe lost only a few tenths in sector 1, and I am on the racing line. Trying to barge past me during sector 1 is costing us both a lot of extra time. Just wait for a slightly better opportunity, I'm not going to fight you if you're quicker.

It's a dumb-arse place to try and pass, low IQ move.

Where you at, man? I’ve done 53 so far and ain’t seen you! :P

Officially passed 2000 races. A quick stat check, haven't done one in a while. I'm quite happy with that. View attachment 1550779
That’s epic mate! I’d say the nearly 50% top 5 and around 30% clean are really good markers of your general ability, that’s some record.

@benjoi84 yeah the no DR has ruined race A, after I thought it would be nice to stay at A, it could have been a DR farm, sadly the others aren’t hitting the spot

Got a long awaited victory in a B/S lobby at Suzuka. Started P3, P2 lost it in lap 1, I pitted off the Hards at the end of the first lap, and P1 stayed put on the Mediums ‘till lap 9.

The undercut worked as I passed him in the pits and my old Mediums were still quicker
in the final laps than his fresh Hards.

Interestingly, he set the fastest lap but I kept the delta to under the pit stop loss. He must’ve been less consistent.

I’m surprised my QT is putting me top 5 as I’m 3.4 seconds off the fastest time. Usually that delta is less competitive in B/S lobbies.

Surprised how many drivers are doing multiple laps on the Hards (like 4-5!).

Big Willow is a blast in the Firebirds, which handle pretty well even on those crappy tires.

No weather unfortunately. I like NGP too but turn 1 is just carnage anytime we have it. Personally I think they should have done that race with the power pack DTM cars, it wouldn't hurt them to let people use them for 1 week even if they do not own that DLC. Gr4 is just boring now. My own opinion of course 👍
Guys when you make Gran Turismo 8 change the physically weather and change the pit lane staff to make it very realistic change the when you're going to depict learning change driver make the physically climb out the card to to make the next driver get in the car it will be very crazy guys trust

Had a really good night of racing at NGP, really tight stuff but 99% super clean. I must apaolgise to one of the FBR guys, "Fire Pump Guy" as I did not realise I ran him off the road, saw it on replay and he was racing very fair, poor form from me, hopefully he sees this.

Managed a win (B room) and two upper mid pack finishes (A/A+ rooms), there's clearly this sort of threshold where guys can figure out the Atenza and others cannot. I am relentlessly the fastest B qualy in split rooms, the A and above drivers are deep into the 5's, the B drivers are mid to high 6's, there's this real line between A and B drivers and I sit in some sort purgatory. Seeing a lot more variety in the cars, the Alfa popping it's head up, more G70's, odd Mazda 3 etc. In races the Atenza guys are struggling mid corner unless it's in really high DR hands.

This last lap or so was pretty dang epic, kudos to the other guy, clean as a whistle.

Anyways, best night of racing I have had in ages.

I’m actually getting into race B with my new found buddies from USA, Canada, Mexico, gotten up to DR B so the racing settled down,

I’m not the fastest but it’s an ok track I have to say, A if fun, but the no DR is a stickler,

Just hit DR B and the mix in lobbbies means p10 dr blue, so all good.

I was planning to spend the weekend at Big Willow, but I'm changing my mind. I'll do few races for sure and then I'll chase @NAXEHT lap time. 😉
I'll rather focus on Suzuka afterwards, starting again on the Mc Laren (somhow I'm getting attached to it) from the back initially, to then get a reasonable QT. Saturday evening will be time to "QTing" in the meta Porsche and see what can be done Sunday. I ditched Suzuka for more than a year cause the stupidity of divebombers from another galaxy at hairpin and "triangle". The thing is that Nurb GP was never part of my favourites tracks; there's no corner that gives me shivers or at least some pleasure.
Have a great weekend guys.

I've always liked it for some reason. The hairpin is clever, you can go tight and sorta slingshot out or go wide and square it up. The middle part of the lap from the hairpin through to the chicane is fun. A lot of folks make errors at NGP in that middle part, they push too hard.
