DT Seaside - one of my absolute favorite tracks in the game.

Rage quit at Watkins last night, punted off literally every race, driving standards are deplorable. I was having a pretty good race, bunch of 7 of us up front, I was exiting the uphill right where the 296 is weak and the guy behind me just casually gets on my right rear shoves me off the road as we head up the hill. Ridiculous, this game is so broken.

Group 4 is just too slow at Bathurst, becomes a contest of who can get on the power the furtherest ahead of the apex.

The way I got to A+ originally was just to set a decent QT in the top 3 or at worst, top 5. You'll soon leave the riff raff behind as they fight each other. No guarantees the top 4 won't play dirty but IME anyone with an S rank SR are less likely to do it.
I can't decide if full front brake bias is best or full rear in the BMW. Similar laptimes for both but I got my best QT with full front, 1:45.7. You really need to get on the power early with these new physics and limit trail braking

I love the track but the COD just drives me effing insane. I hate these "one corner defines the lap" situations.
I understand your perspective but when you get it right it’s a buzz 🐝 😂🤠

I’ll semi agree with you here, but I still think the key to a fast lap time is getting the down the mountain spot on and the real key is getting round the left hander onto (and I’ll try and get the real name right for you) concord straight and the margin for error in carrying enough speed, getting in the gas early enough and missing the barrier on the way out is actually really small and I enjoy the he challenge there. The amount of times I’ve felt I’ve nailed it and I’ve just seen my delta tick away from blue to red all the way down that straight is infuriating!!

Conrod Straight

If people think Gr4s are too slow there the GTWS races tomorrow are Gr3 (but they do have championship damage which could get very annoying given the proximity of the walls and the current driving standards).

I was close 😂😂 I’ll take it as a win

Sharing M. Hizal's masterclass gameplay from Race C. He's even given some commentary in the fist half of the vid. For me, he's the true GOAT of a driver & a GEM of a person too. I always look forward to his uploads as he indirectly teaches so much.

I've informed him about sharing this upload of his in this thread.

It's called conrod because back in the day there was no chase and it was a massive long straight. As a result, in the before times when reliability was still a thing, engines used to detonate and throw rods on the straight. The corner leading onto said straight is called Forests's elbow, not because of the shape of the corner, but because a driver named Forest scraped his elbow on the rocks, leaving a god chunk of it behind.

Interesting!

I do very much enjoy the real world racing facts from you!

Well forests elbow is a corner I actually really enjoying trying to perfect.

I assumed concord because of the speed you can get up to by the end 😂

On another note, I think that’s me done for the week racing. Can’t take just getting rammed off by idiots behind anymore and ruining the fun battles I’ve been having with other clean drivers. 5 in a row where I have some amazing side by side action for half a lap to a coupe of laps and the moron behind catches up and just plows into both of us. Which a waste of great, close racing

This. All week. Real close racing, respect, feels like a real motor race. Then someone just barges through the pack ruthlessly punting everyone with no penalty.

Go here for the early days, 5:28 for FOrrest's elbow.

Just going on how the cars drive now, what has surprised me most is how little braking I actually have to do.

There used to be a lovely progressive, ratcheting-down trail-brake phase. Now it feels much more focused on holding a fairly linear partial brake until the speed/state you want is reached, then releasing and letting the car rotate.

Couple that with the revised diff behaviour, the general move towards more stable/power-understeer-biased setups, and the explicitly “family accessible” direction of the upcoming modes, and I don’t think it’s a huge leap to see a coherent philosophy emerging.

I’m not saying the physics changes were made specifically for Family Mode, but they do seem to be making the cars easier to read and manage without simply giving them more grip.

TBH I don't mind that bit of forgiveness in a game such as this. I am really going against my purist instincts as a motor racing nut but I don't thin the feeling of RACING someone has diminished because one can now lay on the throttle harder exiting the the uphill right hander at Watkins.

Observations have been mixed though, some say less coasting, more trail braking, others say less trail braking and more aggressive braking/accelerating is the way to go.

All said and done, i was my usual 2.5% off the top time, competitive for podiums in B rooms and mid to lower pack in A rooms this week so nothing has changed other than it's a little easier to not lose the thing.

Seem to have solved my ghost loading issues and game freezing before a race by clearing network cache within the game itself. Wiped the data from the PS5 too for good measure. Not sure if those drop outs affected my rank or not tbh, as it would freeze on the screen before the track is loaded.
Anyways I'm not facing much challenge so far, short of being punted a couple times by P2. I'm not coming first in absolutely every race but I've come top 3 in almost all of them. Also I was in a lobby where someone else had the exact same QT as me, I don't think I've ever seen that before. My best QT for race B is a 1:45.362. Can't seem to shave any more time off but that puts me in 1st for most B rank races, or at worst 3rd.
Think I've proven to myself that I at least belong in A rank, not sure about A+. So when I get this alt to A i'll switch back to my main and if that drops down, so be it. Skidmark69 will rest in peace.

That was class, the track has seen a a few improvements over the years hasn’t it 😂

I actually watched the highlights of the Bathurst 1000 from 2025 where Golding and Murray crashed in the rain on the last few laps. Was a super exciting race to be fair.

I think Bathurst is my favorite track.

Was the severe snap oversteer realistic or too aggresive? RH in Gr3 where you just span so easily didn’t feel like that would mimic real life? Seemed too loose and too easy to spin?

This is a good question and TBh I don't know as I have never driven cars of that calibre. I have some time in something similar to a formula ford and there was grip for days but they don't have a lot of power.

NN, that is hilarious and also so informative.
‘He’s run out of cans’ 😂.
The fact 56 cars start is ridiculous but what a great idea PD!
Thanks again for posting 🙌🏻🥳🤠

Tempted to get my wheel set up again for these especially as it looks like Fanatic have a fix out for fullforce.
I haven’t changed my fanatec settings.
I only got back odd holiday yesterday and Civic today.

The thing is nothing of note has changed, just braking profile and exploit the exits more

Championship damage for all the races would reduce dirty stuff.

Hahahaha. I've said this before but in about 1995 they changed the rules to only allow one 24 pack of beers (we call it a slab) per person, per day. So the solution some found was to go up there 2 weeks early and bury the beer int he mountain.

As an ex military man a slab (24 cans) was a detachment essential ✌️🤠

Echoing Nevilles comments on Watkins Glen, I started last on the grid and in my first race in a few weeks, made up 9 places just by staying on the track. People spinning and getting elbowy to a large degree.

Wheel set back up and updated all ok.

First race - very rusty, got swamped off the line so was driving a recovery race. All going ok but rough and ready at times then the inevitable happened and got punted.

Last half of final lap. Had the pace over them but was patient. Think they tried my signature move on me but took me out. Cheeky thing said "that was a good race" post lobby then quit before I was able to finish stating my opinion!
