This weeks guide for those interested! A very fun car this, more fun than I was expecting!

Thank god we don't have the added variable of having to hold the Overtake button nearly the whole lap. And, at least from the video, it seems like it doesn't have as much propensity to oversteering at low speeds and also understeering the second you even think about giving it throttle in a corner? Also, "straddling the sausage", out of context, makes this sound like a very different kind of video.

Also also, because I'm still incredibly salty about it from the last two nights' combined ~300+ miles at LM with the Alfa...that tiny little patch of grass after Turn 4 I think it is...you know the one. Whoever thought to put that there is an asshole.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Online Time Trial: Big Yangwang Energy

Today’s Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.69 brings three new cars to the game, and Polyphony Digital has wasted no time putting one of them straight to work. The new Online Time Trial, live now through May 7, hands you the keys to the freshly added Yangwang U9 ’24 and sends you out onto the chicane-less Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix circuit on Sports Soft tires...

Lovely car, handles fantastic, sounds great, one of my favourite classic cars to drive. Racing tyres was a bit overkill, sports mediums probably would've been the sweet spot.

Unfortunately I'm just not that fast around around Maggiore, although I thoroughly enjoy it as a track when track limits aren't being abused. Was losing boat loads of time through T4, the esses, big banky boy and the final corner. Can never get those corners right, however not much more time in this lap for me as the optimum was an 11.97X.

F50 at Abu Dhabi is scary, gave it a sighting lap and immediately invalidated by touching the exit kerb of the final corner with the inside tyres. Seems like this is going to a bit a of a challenge.

Even with a rather terrible final corner, still really happy with this ⏲️. Hooked up the beginning of the final sector exceptionally well. Hopefully it holds top 10 throughout the fortnight, 🍻.

Made a change to my attire while driving. I'm now wearing a shoe on my right foot, and a sock on my left (prior I was just wearing socks). This has helped enormously with my throttle control.

Weak ABS summoned.

I know it's early days but getting this close to the top time feels very satisfying indeed. Of course I have slipped down the order since doing this lap but still, I'm seriously impressed by this car. It's actively helping me through the corners, allowing me to steer the car far more accurately than others. As a controller user, my biggest hurdle versus wheel users is steering smoothness and accuracy due to the lack of range presented by the analog stick. With this car, I feel like I can exceed the physical limitations of the controller... it's incredible. Meow meow meow baby!

First time out there and I just dipped into the 1:46s, like I wanted to, with a 1:46.949 (and an optimum of a .8xx), and, surprisingly, that's only good enough for 221st. Gonna need to find some more time in there, apparently!

At least I'm not holding "Overtake" for the whole lap, and fighting a car that somehow both oversteers and understeers all at once (cough SU7 cough). It's just the front tires sliding that really botches a lap.

Apparently I wasn't supposed to even get that 1:46 tonight, because as soon as I exited the time trial (to go back to the Sport Mode menu), the game crashed.

Well, I tried like bloody hell to get into the 2:11 club, just couldn't pull it off. The high bank made sure of it. :irked: But still happy with the run, I'm getting faster so it's all good.
As for YAS, well, first session wasn't awful, just learning the limits and car. I think it will be okay once I get a good session. I'm still 1 second off my current goal. Got a little bit of a late start on this one. Was focused on the Alpha, and been busy at home.

Morning guys,

So i had little expectation for the new microwave .....
And yesterday evening i only had time for a couple of laps.
But after my first real try this morning...., it actually isn't bad at all!
One big problem for me ...T9 i could't work it out, to far on the inside and you'll get curb oversteer or you completely miss the apex by a gazillion miles.... as i did in the lap

Def will return over the weekend, see ya

The YangWang U9 pleasently surprised me...
Like people have already said, no overtake button , no aggresive oversteer, no understeer when going on the power (ok a little but very manageable).
Did 5 laps, first 2 laps was trash as I was just figuring out braking references. Adjusted the following laps little by little and I was already decent in the gold with a 1:48.2xx
In contrast to earlier EV's and my personal distaste for them I think this is a good TT that I'll spend some more time on trying to improve..

After I finally manage gold in the F50 though....:irked:

Yes, agreed!, it handles very well for it's weight too!
Although it's going to be a real pain in the rear to get high on the board cause a lot of people will like it...

Coming from a 2.5-3% (usually) driver: the TT seems extremely easy therefore the top 100 might be exceptionally crowded this time.

The biggest difference for me in this car is how easy it is to get on the throttle and maintain traction when following @Dan_Tes ghost. My optimals were in the 47.0 range which would be unheard of for me in any other combo.

Well, it is a fun one - for being a eletric, i expected a lot worse, haha
A nice feeling when you are doing the corner and you can feel that the car is responding :)
Just need to improve a little bit on the second sector and final corner, to see if i can end with a better lap (just 0,027 from top 10)!

GL to everyone!

I don’t like electric cars; there’s no way I’d have one in my garage… 🤔😕

but yesterday, I had a right good laugh anyway…
great handling despite the SS… I heard a YouTuber say it’s down to the rear-wheel steering…🤔

I’ve just had a look, and I’ve already dropped 500 places.....I'm going to end up in 5000th place again 😂 😂

I heard a YouTuber say it’s down to the rear-wheel steering
It’s not quite rear wheel steering, it has independent and super sophisticated hydraulic suspension which means it can torque vector extremely well and deliver independent wheel power AND suspension alignment.

Edit corrected by Jippity:

It’s not really rear wheel steering. From what I understand it’s more about how active the suspension is, so it can manage the car’s attitude and load really aggressively, which probably gives it that planted feel and ability to rotate.

Never driven a real one obviously but the game makes it feel a bit more better in the handling and braking than other cars to me at least

Since all the results from @half_sourly seem to have been janked with the latest updates from PD/Sony, just putting this here... Achieved my first ever top 100, and then did it again in the next event. Struggling to find time to do events at the moment, but I won't repeat this feat in either of the current events for sure!
