First mission of GTA III, said by 8-Ball to Claude, in reference to the first ever safehouse in a 3d GTA.

Oh. I never played the original GTAs. Yes, I'm sorry. I didn't own a PS2 or anything like that as a child. The one game I owned which was extremely close to GTA III was The Simpsons Hit & Run for GameCube. Last year, I got GTA IV Complete Edition for my PS3.

Well, if we're talking about the seedlings of the 3D era, those first immortal words...

"Sorry babe, I'm an ambitious girl. And you are just small time!"

.. classic.

:) I've got and played all of them, but GTA was the first I ever bought and played from the start, GTA, GTA2, London, I played at a friends.. only bought them once the collectors box set came out.

Wowo the screenshots and customization look and sound awesome. Especially like that some missions ask you to customize a car in a certain way. That is awesome.

EDIT:

OMG you can customize bikes too!

I specifically remember that about SA. I would find a car I wanted to customize somewhere very far from a shop and either blow it up on the way, or when I hit the nitrous shortly after tuning it. I was a terrible SA driver! I remember I found a car that was quite rare (can't remember what it was) and blew it up by Chiliad and my roommates and I spent over an hour using CJ to push it all the way to the low rider shop in LS :dunce:.

What are all the kinds of cosmetic alterations you can make to the vehicles? How deep do you plan to go?

In addition to the many cosmetic customization alterations such as body kits, paint jobs/finishes, wheels, exhaust tips, window tints, tire smoke color, bull-bars, extra lights, and lots of other extra accessories, we have modifications that will affect gameplay and vehicle performance. Some of the modifications that affect gameplay include brakes, engine tuning, suspension, horns, bulletproof tires, panel armor, and of course, a general repair! There are more than 1,000 modifications in total. And when you're done customizing your car, you can take a picture of it using the in-game cell phone and upload them to the Social Club.

Wow! Sounds like a lot more that MCLA.

I can't wait to take a pickup truck, armour the thing up, tune the hell out of it's engine and black it out for bank heists. 💡

EDIT: Are those roll bars inside the car?

This!

The physics in IV were just... :yuck:

Even the San Andreas physics were significantly better!

PS: The gameplay looks amazing!

The cars in San Andreas could almost turn on the spot and the braking and throttle application didn't seem to affect the balance of the cars at all. I don't mind fun easy to use cars in a sandbox game but I hope they don't go too far.

I loved how the cars had real weight to them in IV, gong off this trailer looks like we're getting handlings that's as bad as Saints Row.

I've never been disappointed with a GTA game, but if this goes backwards from IV's physics this will be the first one I'm disappointed about. No matter how good everything else is, driving is the main part and if it's no fun me then that's a lot of the lifespan of the game gone for me.

Yes, it was good that vehicles in GTA IV had different weight and handling characteristics, but you have to admit, the driving physics in IV were crap. Especially on motorcycles.

I didn't like the motorbikes, the rear tyres just didn't have any grip and they were too unstable. GTA V's bikes should be more like SA than IV.

GTA IV cars were absolutely horrendous as far as handling. I cannot stand them.

Holy mother of god this is going to the the mammoth of GTA's and is going to redefine gaming period. This game has already bagged a game of the year trophy. I came when I saw this. I love how a lot of RDR stuff carried over like bounty hunting etc. Investments in stuff? WHAT? WHO DOES THAT IN A VIDEO GAME???? Property buying online? This is seriously the pinnacle of GTA's. San Andreas has been put to shame. Never thought that would happen. Just, holy mother effing 🤬.

Damn, CPR doesn't work on this one!

I found IV required some quite accurate driving, since collisions with lamppost etc slowed you down more than previously, and a car would be spawned on the exit of any corner taken at speed.. I wouldn't have minded that... It would have made for some good Roninesque driving, but he cars felt so disconnected and Lollopy it was just a frustrating pinball fest. But then V looks much less claustrophobic anyway, so maybe deftly navigating busy streets will be easier.

GTA is after all a fun game, not a sim!

I love doing stunts on the motorbikes. If you were to do a backflip on one and hold the gas, you would glitch and stay up side down, crash, and get hurt. To successfully do a backflip, you had to let go of the gas as soon as you left a ramp.

And this is just one of the numerous bugs with motorcycles in IV.

EDIT: Ah, wow. The internet at the college has some problems...

But yeah, that gameplay video.

Looking like an amazing game.

I'm going to spend hours just kind of exploring as soon as I get the chance.

The gameplay trailer... OH MY GOD.

Driving looks OK-ish, there seems to be an element of realism in there but it's obviously way more responsive, and those high-speed stunts (the 9F on that street at night for example) seem like they've been practiced over and over by someone.

The stuff you can do seems pretty incredible though, I mean, stock trading and buying real estate on the internet?! And the customisation seems pretty incredible, can't wait to get into customising that new Sentinel...

Looks outstanding. Wasn't a fan of GTA4, but this looks packed to the rafters with features and deserves a purchase.

While I agree with this, I love the physics. A taxi isn't supposed to handle like a sports car. ;)

I've had quite a bit of fun with that game recently getting large heavy cars to their top speed and plowing into cars crossing my path. :dopey: Even made a couple of them blow up on impact. :D

It's fun when you go full speed, and then they come from the side in a T or + junction. Pancake cars galore.

Totally stunned by the gameplay. Hope the customisations for the cars would be even better then in MNC LA. Can't wait to pre-order it now

RE: The comments about he vehicle handling,

I have a feeling that the clips in the trailer are of cars already modified for extreme performance. A normal car that you pick up on the street will probably handle similarly to what we had in GTA IV, or maybe a bit more crisply.

Does the video have any storyline spoilers, or show any missions etc? I don't want to watch it if it does

No. It's just mostly content (like car customization), the three characters, and the environment.
