guess it was kinda stupid. hey. how do u suppose i get my times online. for the weekly challenges. i got no idea how to show them caus u know how they say u got to proove u done it by the rules. can i record a short clip wit my camera of the replay or somthin??. where do i send it??

The preferred method of proving times is with the Xport (difficult to find anymore) or the ARMax drive (cheaper, but available; requires a conversion program for Xport users to view)...

Google to locate the Max drive. Or search these forums.

Also, folks here would prefer that you use more proper English in your posts. "u" instead of "you" will draw a virtual flamefest from many of the old timers and Moderators alike...

Xport? never heard of such a device. ill go have a look. thanks. geez i really got to find out how they got thoes times. my lap time is so staight and normal it looks impossibe to even gain even half a seccond anymore let alone 2 whole seconds like the replys i got to my stupid post earlier. ive done like more than 100 laps for sure. my only guess is that they changed the settings. but what?? MUST KNOW. i got a PAL version of GT3. is that what everyone here is using?.

No - the majority of members on this site are American, so they use the NTSC version.

There are several methods of "proving" times. I'll run through them for you, because I'm nice.

#1: The XPort/Sharkport/MaxDrive
These devices allow you to transfer data from a PS2 memory card to the PC. The Xport and Sharkport, which are identical, are now discontinued so you'll find them hard to get hold of. They connect the PS2 to the PC by a pair of USB cables and a wee box'o'tricks in the middle. The MaxDrive (available for £10 from Play.com - if you live in mainland Europe) is a USB flash drive (sometimes called a "pen drive" or a "memory stick"). You plug it into the PS2, upload the files, plug it into the PC, upload the files. An ordinary USB flash drive won't do, as you need the software for the PS2 for it to work in the PS2.

These devices also all work in reverse. You put your replay onto the computer, then the internet. Someone downloads it, puts it on their PS2 and watches it. However, the different formats are not compatible - you cannot watch an NTSC version replay on a PAL machine.

#2 The Trusted Member
Visit or send your memory card to a "Trusted Member". If you're in the UK, Mr. P, daan or me will do quite nicely. They will verify the replay and upload it to the internet for others to verify quite happily. They can also download others' replays from the internet for you to watch when you get the card back.

#3 The Video
Video the entire replay. This must be shot in a specific format:

• Include the replay loading screen - with the car's power indicated.
• Shoot it entirely in chase view - as it makes wall-contacts and three-wheel-offs easier to spot.

This method is not as satisfactory for first time verifications or in serious[/i] competitions (the ones where people lose a sense of humour, and a great deal of time), but replays from proven guys are often shot like this - as then cross-format replays are viewable.

#4 The Sectors
Go into the Replay Analyser. Note down every sector time (not split time - there's only a maximum of 3 splits and a final lap time. There are at least 14 sectors on any lap time, excluding Test Course and Super Speedway). Post those. Knowledgeable people know what's possible in each sector - or at least what falls within the bounds of possibility.

I'm glad to hear you're learning from your mistakes instead of freaking out and getting all shirty because people called you out.

That's the makings of a quality member! 👍

One thing that the serious racers won't have much humor about are lap time claims. It's a very tight knit community that is very strongly based on trust... and they don't take kindly to trash talk. Your times are good - way better than mine, for sure - and when you've developed your credibility with the proven folks, you'll be in the pack.

Holy cow... I have read about these hybirds here but never saw one... until I ran across this post and the embedded site. This is the 1st time I've seen these things.... You guys are INSANE.... WAY cool. There is some real talent out there....
