I'm amused by chatter about typical TheFerrari owners and what they'll use it for.

The typical TheFerrari won't get used at all. It'll just get shoved into a collection and never even turn a wheel.

Yeah this is true, unless you're a Jay Leno type, then it will see some wheel turn. But not a ton

Ferrari is as to supercars as BMW is to luxury cars: great engineering prowess, but the car in that segment in which you're most likely to look like a tool. Also, I don't mind the styling, and I'm baffled by people who dislike it yet think the 458 is the best-looking in years (it definitely isn't). Meh.

Also, more body-coloured roof:

I've voted it cool, because of it's engineering. The car itself is not the prettiest though. And the fact that it's called TheFerrari just makes it sound odd...

:yuck: Don't like it with the body-coloured roof and black wheels. In fact, i think this is the first proper side-on shot i've seen of it. It's fairly non-distinctive, isn't it?

It is, and that's my issue with it. It just looks like a big, 458 Italia mashed up with features of the F12 and the FF. The Enzo looked distinct, just like the F40, that's why I have them etched on my mind. The Ferrari TheFerrariFerrarirrari? Nah...

Uncool. It continues Ferrari's streak of producing ugly cars.

You know what? Forget it. Hybrid systems are uncool because they will never escape the "driver votes a straight D ticket every time" connotations. That's all.

Ah yes, this old bit.

Step 1: Make some blanket claim like "Hybrids and technology suck" that's extremely difficult to substantiate
Step 2: Attempt to substantiate said claim with really weak, narrow-minded arguments
Step 3: Watch helplessly as several people demolish said weak arguments
Step 4: Throw some ignorant political statement over the whole thing and run away

Seriously Uncool.

Of course, the problem with politicizing something that's not inherently political is that roughly half the people* won't share your political views. And because the two things you tried to connect simply aren't connected, you'll find large groups of people who agree with you politically, but not about the topic at hand. And you'll find large groups of people who agree with you about the topic at hand, but not politically. And so on, and so on. It's really quite idiotic to invent correlation about two things that aren't correlated.

*Vast over-generalization to make it easy for W&N to wrap his head around it, since he seems to have an black-or-white, us-versus-them mentality about pretty much everything in life.

That side on profile makes it look like any "Ordinary" 458 that's just been molested by a "Tuning company"

I know it's a bit of a stretch but.. seriously.. they look so similar to me it's uncanny
I actually thought for a split second it was a 458.

Seriously Uncool just simply because Supercar and these awesome machines usually unfortunately end up in the hands of idiotic showoffs. The name also really isn't that clever either.

It's overdesigned, and has a very stupid name, but it's a lot better than the other hybrid hypercars. You don't have to plug it in.

Meh.

I respect it, but I also hate how it looks. The mirrors are hilariously out of proportion and awkward for the car, the front end is..... interesting, the side profile screams "generic hypercar concept", and overall, to me, it is quite forgettable. Then add in that it's a hypercar that most owners will either crash immediately, or never use, and it gets a seriously uncool. I bumped it up to uncool because, like I said, I respect it, and I also realize that 90% of the public where I'm from would say out loud, "oh COOL!!!" if they ever saw it on public roads.

I'd hate to come off as all 'we are the 99%' but it seems like each generation of Ferrari hypercars becomes further out of touch with...well...us. It used to be one thing to know that we could never afford one. Then it was we'll never see one. Now its as if we'll never even seen one in the pages of a magazine or in the content of film being reviewed. Sure there was the Fiorano media drive, but I doubt will ever see one of these on Top Gear or in any sort of comparison test. It's almost like it doesn't even exist, and I honestly forgot about it almost completely until the recent couple of media drives.

It's so far away, so distant, that I'm completely uninterested in it. That should meet with a resounding 'meh' but I'm unhappy about this, so I gave it an uncool out of spite.

The technology behind this car is brilliant, but it just looks so cartoonish. I understand that its all about aerodynamics, and it helps the car go faster, but this "function over form" approach is something McLaren or Porsche should be doing, not Ferrari. A Ferrari should above all else be a work of art, but this is very far from being that.

So basically, you have a car that is hideously expensive (which is uncool) that will be bought by billionaires (once again uncool) who will then have a hard time explaining to their other billionaire friends why they're driving a Hot Wheels car (very uncool).

Overall I'm giving it an Uncool, with the only thing saving it from SU being the brilliant technology driving it.

There cars are as much function over form as the 2005 Mustang. Okay, they're a bit better than that, but the aero guys were probably arguing with the stylists everywhere except the bottom of the car. Even there, you can't be sure.

If it was really function over form you would probably get something like a Formula 1 - LMP hybrid. Aerodynamic cars tend to look good anyway I think.

I know it's going to end up sitting in the garage of either an arsehole Jordan Belfort-wannabe or an oil sheikh. I know the front grille looks goofy. I know it has a goofy name.

And yet...seeing W&N whinge because it's a hybrid bumps this up to cool.

I find it hilarious that W&N hates technology but even likes cars. If anything, he really should be riding horses, bareback.

I like how it looks; to the point that I find it a more attractive Ferrari halo car than the F50 and Enzo ever was. Stupid name though, and it still can't escape the fact that right now, it's a brand new Ferrari.

Seriously uncool.

It's a new Ferrari. It's a new Ferrari halo model. It's a new Ferrari halo model with an even worse name than the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari, though they've only changed one word there.

Just Seriously Uncool enough to stay right there in SU. Do not pass GO, do not circle around and become cool again.

Low Sub Zero in my opinion because it's one of 3 cars that have started a new breed of plug-in hybrid hypercars which to me is amazing but I prefer the McLaren P1 and the 918.

Yet each and everyone here would gawk at it and take a picture if they came across one in the wild.

Cool.
