Nope, you will need to download them though so you can see the cars on track. I'm pretty sure it will prompt you to install the missing cars at no charge if it comes up.

Sounds like a great idea guys 👍 I'm certainly interested.

I have to have missed that in the release notes.

So we are making a new league again? Who will open the thread? Also, I would love to make the race review replays. :)

I was thinking maybe a fixed setup MX5 as the car, but if you guys want a GT car I am not complaining. ;)

Also, maybe implementing some of the free tracks/cars may be good so this is more accessible to all. May help with numbers?

I'm a week into iRacing and will participate depending on the track and car. I am not about to buy 15 tracks and 3 cars for an event as iRacing can get expensive fairly quickly. I'm just starting to get my feet wet over there.

I'm down to drive with you dudes as long as it works with my schedule.

So let's keep working this guys! If we're going for my proposed idea of replicating real life race events what races would you like to see? Anything goes!

This sounds like a great idea, whether it's for fun or a league. I am also new to iRacing and having spent money to get a system to run it, I'd rather not spend much more on extra content for the events too early on, so using the base content might help to keep numbers up.

I may have spoken out of turn Erik. I answered from my phone and forgot this would be a hosted event. I thought I had read something about hosted sessions allowing non-paid cars on track but I just went and looked it up on the iRacing site and it seems it was just forum chatter. You guys are right, you must own all cars to get into a hosted session after all. Sorry about the confusion I may have caused... no more iPhone replies.

I liked your first idea, MX5 on SPA, although I went there with my rise cooker and it didn't really get my blood rushing into adrenaline, but a nice track and car to get to know everyone in my opinion ;)

Well im not sure if iRacing is going to do a Rolex 24 @ Daytona event, but that would be a great start for sure. Using one of the prototypes and a few GT cars?

Iracing is doing the 2.4 this year with DP and new car that just came out (name totally escapes me at the moment).

Not sure if this has been brought up, but after looking at the iracing forums, I've found people have teams. Do we have a GTP iRacing team?

-Taladega 500? -> Aaron's 400

Fixed (Aaron's furniture store)
But ya I like the idea except maybe a Daytona 50.0 is better fitting rather than a 500

Edit: well nevermind... 500 miles at 2 miles every 50 seconds, that wouldn't be more than a few hrs

I'm in, so long as the times work for me. I'd like to purchase as little as possible, but I don't mind buying the occasional car or track.

Kind of off topic, but for those looking for some pointers on oval racing should watch this tutorial

But yeah im down with the Spa race, we should aim to do that some time soon.

You would be surprised at how fast time will pass during a race that long even if it seems boring. Granted 500 miles is a bit long but 250 wouldn't be bad.

If I was going to put on oval races that allow some passing without being bottle necked I'd pick Michigan as it allows some different lines but one mistake doesn't take out tons.

I was wondering why Michigan was such a popular track...

I'd love to join races with you guys but these next few weeks are going to be 🤬 for me, but an occasional weekend race may be fine for me.

*snip*

👍

The Mclaren MP4. Daytona with the DP, Caddy, and Mustang (?) might be cool.
For that we ned to wait for iRacing to update the ballast system for the 12C so we can balance it out with the Caddy! And hopefully they will update the hosted system so we don't have to own all cars used in the server!

Erik Andre is getting a team together!

Lol! My bad!
I could do that if you guys decide upon this.

Let's make it happen then! I'll host it if you guys want!

👍

I wondered the same thing til I ran a long race there and it isn't terrible hard to drive but to be fast every lap without overdriving takes a little skill. It's a great track though for longer races without having to worry about someone driving too aggressive.

I think it would be interesting, but I suspect that with me being on the arse end of the world the times might rule me out.

I guess I'll toss a list of events out:

(In no order)

-Daytona 500
-Indy 500
-Petit Le Mans
-Bathurst 1000 (Shortened)
-A few F1 Races
-Nationwide at Montreal
-Grand Am at Montreal
-Pirelli World Challenge race or two (Since we will have Caddy and Kia)

I also think we should come up with some of our own events, like a HPD, Riley, McLaren combo race at Interlagos or something... Lets get some ideas so we can make a schedule and get the ball rolling!

^I was thinking Mustang, Mx5 and legend at lime rock since all 3 are in the high 57 to low 1 min range and keep it open to the public just for car count because 3 classes is tough to fill in closed door events. That to me would be real interesting with enough people

Edit:
And another odd ball, (I'd still have to do a lot of testing) but the Late Model and Cadillac may be a close match. Old school Geometry versus modern day technology.

......... I think you know very well what 2 cars I'd pick

For anything involving our ALMS cars I'd replace the Vette with the McLaren, but ofcourse we don't know what's coming in the new build so I'll just wait and see... Also I'd throw in the Caddy as a GT-C car. But then again that may be one too many classes...

Like the idea,

I'm just starting as a rookie , but still not so confident about joining the races.
Tried one out today, started as last on the grid , with a best 3th position and ending 5th. Never been more nervous .
So I would like some races with fellow GTP members.

That really helps :D gonna try oval racing next season.

Know wonder I've not been doing so well with ovals. I have been doing it all wrong. Thanks bro!

So when are we doing an event then?

If enough people are up for it I could host a session this or next weekend...

I like the Star Mazda! But Charlotte?? I was thinking more of something like Okayama!
