Too far, just too... No, I didn't need that thought in my head. I'm sure Mrs Radicool will be thrilled to read all this when she comes back.

Dear Radicool's mum,

The members at GTP would like to apologise for the amount of Mass-debating jokes going on. We really hate beating it over and over again.

Regards,

The members GTPlanet.net

Ok... That's enough...

When she comes back on here she's going to give you lot a good spanking :nervous:.

I'm ready to get this show on the road. Any judges come up with a good way for all of us to communicate all at once?

If need be we can always PM back and forth over the planet. :/

Not to expose my technical ignorance but IRC room??? Actually I have an idea what one is, never been on one though.

Not everyone likes to use IRC *coughmecough*.

Me, Swift, and hopefully Foolkiller have set up our own little AIM trio so we should be good to go.

I'm up for an AIM chatroom if all of the judges have it. My screen name is: brian2030

I have Math and Physics homework tonight, so I don't know if I will be signed on.

How does starting on wednesday, but being given 3 days to formulate an arguement sound?
I was thinking 5-7 days, but 3 days sounds reasonable to me. 👍

I've never been a part of (dare I say it)Mass Debating before, so I'm not sure of the debating and judging process. Can anyone maybe post a simplified, "dummies" version of rules and process of ............. this debating?

Well it'll be 3 days for each team I guess, or will both teams post thier arguments at the same time?

Dougiemeats, I've added you to my buddy list.

Radicools Mum, are you able to get AOL Instant Messenger service? It's free and easy to use.

she will be using her experience to judge if your doing it correctly...

Now that is more likely to embarras my poor Jack, he doesnt like it when I talk about that sorta stuff.

I wonder if she has ever witnessed Radicool Mass-Debating with his friends?

I doht want to even think about that, I do know a friend that busted her son though.

Apology accepted

Ok lads, bend over!

I added the Team Structure to the first page for anyone that couldn't find it before.

I can do whatever I like, I'm the boss of the internet round my place.
But really I'd prefer to use Yahoo or MSN, I really have enough chat programs aleady....I could always commandeer Jacks computer, I think he has AIM.

MSN - wenders_63
Yahoo - wenders_au
ICQ/AIM - 11698462

I really think the name (*gulp* Mass-Debating) needs to be changed

So what's the first topic going to be?

(and boy is Wenders on fire with the multi-quote :))

I don't have either of those messengers and currently am running on 56k. Broadband service won't be available in my dorm until the end of this month. Can you believe that?

I'd like to put in a request for a format change/clarification. Earlier it was posted that we'd get "questions" to respond to the opposing team's argument. I'd like to recommend that instead we get one rebuttle to their argument with a word limit shorter than whatever we work out for the main argument.... Say for example we write a 500 word argument followed by a 200 word rebuttle.

Either that, or no follow-ups at all and the judging only applies to the main argument.

What format are we submitting? Posts? Word Documents? PDF? I'd prefer word documents but I can see some compatibility issues already. If we want to stick to posts that would be cool too. I just want to know what my options are.

I wish I could have found out about this earlier! MachOne sparked my interest in the Rate The Above Avatar thread, and now I am really confused as to who everyone is except for indigo because his has a special indigo color scheme. :)

I agree with all of the rules, except for the 200 word limit. Maybe 300, or at the least 250. Makes for a potentially more interesting argument...:trouble:

EDIT: I've found a potential flaw in the chatroom idea: Time Zone differences. A lot of people from GTP are from England and from all kinds of time zones in the US.

For an answer for that, I saw the teams get 3 days to come up with an question/answer, talk it over via PM's, AIM, MSN, Y!, ICQ, etc. and then compile their thoughts into an x-hundred-word post.

Then the following team would get 3 days to do the same, and the judges get 4 days to pick a winner, and we have an entire debate done in 10 days. Plenty of time.

I think that would be much better too, plus that’s much closer to how most debates are handled (main argument + rebuttal + closing argument; we’d just be leaving out the closing argument and integrating it into the rebuttal).

Ultrabeat changed the limit to 400 I believe.

Too bad I missed the join deadline. I'll just have to argue both teams' decisions as a 3rd party debater when I have enough free time from flaming my school's administration and debating issues in classes.

Is it a possibility that a forum is created that only the judges have access to so that we can then commincate easily around all the time zones?
