Steward's Notes:

It's a 3 race tour of the 3 American tracks in GT5 featuring 3 very different cars. NASCAR is on their home track but with right turns thrown into the mix. The FGT is set to Indycar specs and it's a nice drive on the comfort tires. Laguna Seca is the host of the classic Challenger battle.

  • Each race will have pre-race qualification.
  • Posting/discussing practice lap times, tunes and driving techniques is encouraged although not required.

News and Updates:
  • TBD
Good Luck, OLR Team:gtplanet:

Register

Eligibility

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form (use your GTP_ tag ID)
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B from your GTP_tag account.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

There is a 32 car/driver limit for this event and slots are awarded on the grid using a first come first serve basis. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability. This is a stand alone race and points are not tallied for a series. Future WRS-Online races hosted by 3D3 racing may have different driver limits and will require re-registration using the same first come first serve basis and participation in future events is optional.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your time slot, add a time slot or update your color choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend please click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as your status. Please also post a note in this thread as the table above can take some time to update.

Delaying or Restarting Race Start

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will only be restarted in these cases:
  • Multiple drivers report a black screen/hang, instead of the 3-2-1 countdown.
  • One or more drivers get disconnected before race-pace has begun ("GO" for grid-starts, end of formation lap for rolling starts).
  • Steward realizes there is a condition that would lead to an unfair or poor race experience.

Once the race countdown timer has started, the race will explicitly NOT be restarted for:
  • Latecomers, even if you've registered
  • Driver realizes he picked the wrong car parts (ie, tires) or driving options (ie, Auto tranny)

Lounge Settings (@ GTP_3D3Racing or GTP_3D3_A if mics-disabled)
  • Race Quality: Standard
  • Voice Chat Quality: Low (Disabled with grids over 12)

Qualification Procedures
  • Type: Live Single-Stint Pre-Race Qualifying
  • Timing: Begins at event start time after timer reset and just before the race
  • Duration: 10-15 minutes depending on grid size
  • Warm Up: The lounge is open for pre-race practice approximately 1 hour prior to the official start of each event

The America Cup Championship Points System

Points will be awarded to a driver for each race in the tour that they participate in. There will be an official winner of each stop in the tour plus an overall tour champion.

The points earned for each of the three individual races will depend on the number of drivers that start that race. The last place driver gets 1 point and points increase by 1 for every position forward. In addition the top finishers in each race get "podium" bonus points: 4 points for first, 2 points for 2nd and 1 point for 3rd. This point system spans across multiple lounges if necessary. For example if there are 22 drivers that start a race (11 in A + 11 in B) points will be awarded as follows:

A1 : 22 + 4 = 26
A2 : 21 + 2 = 24
A3 : 20 + 1 = 21
A4 : 19
A5 : 18
A6 : 17
A7 : 16
A8 : 15
A9 : 14
A10 : 13
A11 : 12
B1 : 11 + 4 = 15
B2 : 10 + 2 = 12
B3 : 9 + 1 = 10
B4 : 8
B5 : 7
B6 : 6
B7 : 5
B8 : 4
B9 : 3
B10 : 2
B11 : 1

Finally, there is a 1 point bonus for pole position in each event.

Tie Breakers:
  1. Best finish across all 3 races.
  2. Worst finish across all 3 races.
  3. Average finish across all 3 races.
  4. Finishing position in final race (Pacific Cup).

Track Boundary Guidelines
Drivers are expected to do their best to stay within track boundaries per the OLR. We understand that mistakes happens over the course of a long race and the random off or two will be overlooked in most instances, but if we observe a pattern of boundary abuse we will hand out penalties which include 15 seconds for a "minor" pattern of abuse, 30 seconds for a "substantial" pattern of abuse and a DQ for "complete disregard" of track boundaries.

It's up to the admins' discretion exactly what qualifies as "minor", "substantial" or "complete disregard". Going outside the rumble by a centimeter isn't as serious as a car length wide excursions into the run off area. Factors such as dirty air and traffic also come into play. If you find yourself going wide then the next lap you're expected to slow down a bit more to make sure you stay within boundaries. If you make the same mistake multiple times and you want to avoid a penalty you can always self-penalize during the race by lifting for a very brief period upon returning to the track. Continuing to hammer the throttle after repeated boundary overruns may very well end with a post race penalty.

Pit Road Entry and Exit Rules:

PitExit-RoadCourse-Daytona-Shrunk_zpsfebc4b8d.jpg

  • Safe Pit Entry: Drivers must keep all four tires within the white lines on pit road entry and must avoid contact with walls. There is no specific speed limit on entry, but the driver may need to slow significantly in order to stay within the boundaries and avoid wall contact. If the boundaries are crossed or wall contact is made the driver can avoid penalty by lifting off the throttle completely for 2 seconds after the car is released from the pits to "self-penalize" otherwise a 10 second penalty will be incurred after the race.
    • At Daytona the system imposes an automatic pit penalty if a driver enters the pit too fast. Your responsible for understanding this limit or risk being held in the pits or if you enter way too fast having the AI drive right past your pit and getting a drive through penalty. Also, if you are going to pit be sure to drop down off the banked section early when approaching your pit, dive bombing from the banked section at the last second is not safe and could incur a 10 second penalty at the stewards discretion.
  • Safe Pit Exit: Drivers must keep all four tires within the white lines on pit road exit and cannot cross over to the racing line until after the white line has ended. As always, when exiting pit road the driver is responsible for a safe entry onto the racing line and must "yield" to oncoming traffic. Any incident resulting from an unsafe exit will result in a drive through penalty (30 secs) for the driver exiting the pits.
    • At Daytona drivers must use the small exit road when exiting the pits and may not exit directly into turn 1 or incur a 30 second penalty plus additional infractions if an incident results. See picture above.

I'll be out of town for the Atlantic Cup, but plan to make the rest. 👍

Registered for all! I only needed to get the Challenger but it's gotten, converted, and painted. :) This should be a lot of fun. The Challenger and the FGT still have to be run in though. I guess Bob to the rescue? :)

Is the tire criteria correct for the FGT? Comfort tires on that beast is going to be a handful to say the least.

Sark

 to GTPorsche (Shawn) and Tim for getting this one together.

Signed up reserve for the first one. :)

All Shawn's idea and credit goes to him. I just helped with the thread and google stuff.

How come you can only make the race I can't? Are you scared I'm too fast for you now. :sly:

Yes! :nervous: This way you can't do this to me (1:35 for the highlight, Tim in the Red Bull:crazy:)

Just kidding. Just tough to find the time these days.

OCD cars don't need to be run in, they already are, even at 0mi. Just need to change oil and you're good to go 👍
And don't worry about tires, they are perfect for this car with these specs ;)

Great format Shawn (and Tim)! 👍
I hope I can make all three races, but for the moment I signed up as reserve. Let's hope for full grids on this one.

PS. That's a crazy pass there Tim, well done  👍

Not sure I can make this time slot on Saturdays. I shall endeavour to get some brownie points! Wish me luck!!!

Al

Yh that pass was nuts. and I should be able to make all 3! signed up for these :D

Oink, maybe we should promote this via video *before* the actual event.

No events this weekend... who wants to get together for some practice races that will double as a video shoot?

Yeh sounds like a pretty neat idea! lol. Yeh I'm down for some practice and video shooting.

I've set up "official" practice race sessions for this weekend on Saturday and Sunday. Information and sign up can be located here.

We'll grab video/shots from those practice races for promotional material.

Great. I should be able to attend both. Presumably we can get a mixture of all 3 events in terms of practice and that can then be used for video.

It's going to be much easier to drive than a full power/racing tire FGT is. It's less power and more weight, and it's really easy to drive on the comfort tires. You'll just have to take it easy on the first couple laps as it takes about 3 full speed laps to get heat into the tires.

Just realised I won't be able to attend the sunday practice (will be doing some IRL racing that day :D ) I'm hoping someone from a PAL region will be there who I can grab some replays from.

Hopefully we'll touch all 3 events on Saturday too, but we'll try to get you the replays of Sunday too.

Quastion about "Drivetrain: Adjustable LSD (Stock)". Is that Full Customisable LSD?

Quastion about "Drivetrain: Adjustable LSD (Stock)". Is that Full Customisable LSD?

Shawn is the authority on the specs , but yes I assume so. We can't police LSD (unless its tuning prohibited) so we always allow that part if available.

Just did some laps in the Nascar at Daytona road, now that's a beast! Stop for the first corner is a bit hairy

Just signed up for all 3 events, only reserve for the first 2.
Looking forward to some practice this weekend.

Anyone at practice yet? I should be home in time for the formula GT practice time in about 45-50 mins.
