First session over with today, never drove round this track backwards but it’s got better and better every lap, enjoying it :)

Still stock.
 
I’m running the same as you but I have changed the gearing slightly using all seven. I have moved final gear to 3500 which to me seems to give be better exit speeds against stock gears. This setup also I feel allows me to upshift slightly early if I feel the back end starting to go which brings it back and the ratios are short enough not to be penalised shifting that little bit earlier

I tried a custom gearing but didn't like the shift points, was having trouble finding right gear, but what you say makes a lot of sense, I will give it a try tonight. That may be some of my issues is keeping the gear too high and not enough pull to have fast exits. Thanks. 👍

You'll notice on here there are a few adverse cambers, so work more on your line. And mind the raised bits on the curbs one they can un-settle the back end, worse can throw you off line altogether.

I have noticed that about some of these curbs, the curbs and I may have had run in once or twice already. :lol:

I found something that really helped me. This community has been so helpful and sharing, that I want to also.

This car has a very, very wide power band. I have been playing around a lot with the gearing. Not much seemed to help at first until I started widening out the gear ranges so I didn't use as many gears. I was using 4 gears only (3rd through 6th), but wanted to find a way to try only 3 gears.

I found it. I set 1st gear to 102mph, 2nd to 130mph and 3rd to 160mph. I only use those 3 gears. So, believe it or not, acceleration from 60 to 145 is 0.3 to 0.4 seconds better than stock or any other combo I could come up with. It is unconventional I know, but try it.

So less shifting and better acceleration...works for me.

The transmission is custom. These are my settings and how I got them.


Reset to default
Fully customizable transmission

Set Final gear to 5.000 (all the way to the right)
Set Top speed to 124mph (all the way to left)
Set Final gear to 2.410

Set 1st gear to 2.328 (102mph)
Set 2nd gear to 1.820 (130mph)
Set 3rd gear to 1.488 (160mph)

4th, 5th 6th & 7th not used

After trying all the different settings / tunes on this thread, I have bonded with the tune from @dranddad 👍👍

Glad it's working for you Larry, gearing is all down to the person where they like to change gear. But for me I found the custom box gearing ok, I just moved the final drive down to 3.090 just to move my changing point to a place more suited to where the corners came.
