I like the setup Jav gave earlier. I can get in the low 2:01's pretty consistently now. If we need to switch cars let me know in advance so I can practice. I've only touched the BMW right now.

Also go you guys use Skype or some other VoIP when the race comes? I don't mind the in i game VoIP but it gets annoying to hear other people sometimes so I turn it off while driving.

Where can I find that setup?

I can be on Skype when the time comes. I'm buying the BMW today and going to try and get in as much practice as I can with it (aiming for at least 100 laps).

Jav
You most definitely can guys!
So far we are 5 people including you 2, almost enough for a 2 car effort doing 2 two hour stints each just like we did on Daytona.
We still need to sort out the stints.
Still not decided on a setup, we already have 2 GTPlanet teams setup and ready to go.

Awesome! And I'm happy with 2 hour stints, it was looking like at one point I may have been doing a 6 hour+ stint with my original teammate, which is why he's pulled out because he has too many late commitments.

What are we doing about qualifying then? I think qualifying is decided by the best time out of the drivers registered to race for that team (so one driver can't use their qualifying time for both cars). So it makes sense to group the drivers sooner rather than later if we are running 2 cars. Presumably a good spread of timezones/availability makes sense?

Ok we have our 6th driver confirmed, we are now officially going with 2 cars!
Our goal is to get the 2 cars on the same split so with Jason starting one car we need to find someone with a similar iRating to start the other.
So far it looks like this:
Black Car:
Adam Suswillo(Aderrrm)
Julie R
Javier Torres(Jav)
White Car:
Jason William(MadRR)
Matthew Bretten (Ardius)
Adeqdsinpermatt

For cominications we can simply switch to the team's radio channel during sessions and it'll be just us in that channel with no need of third party apps or servers.

I want to join an official practice session but the team registration window pops up. What do I enter in there?

Sorry I've not done one of these before. :)

You just select the GTPlanet team. The only difference is that everyone is sharing the car in practice. You can always enter your own separate team if there are lots of us wanting to practice in the same session.

If you select the GTPlanet team, it means if any of us join the same session and you're busy driving in it, we can't drive as we'll be sharing the same car.

Gotcha, nice one.

I'm just into the 2:00s on a low fuel lap, still yet to try a long stint.

I also like the setup. 👍

I'm happy with the setup too, I can only manage a 2:02.6 on low fuel, I'm doing 2:05s/2:06s on high fuel through the stint (2:03s at the start with fresh tyres, 2:04/05 in the middle and then ending on 2:06s at the tyres wear). Tyres start to get pretty edgey near the end, but its a nice gradual wear rate.
I didn't have many incidents, a couple of spins. The car and setup seem quite easy to feel when its going to lose the rear. Its all about looking after those rears and being smooth on the steering and throttle.

Oh and I found that full fuel lasts roughly 26/27 laps? I think 26 is safer.

Looking good guys! We need to figure out now who's going to qualify and start the cars. Our iRatings are pretty much all over the place so we won't be able to get the 2 cars on the same split.
Jason is going to start the 024(white car) and is good for a 2 hr stint, so lets figure out the schedule for each car.
@Aderrrm how do you feel about starting the 025(black car) with a 2hr stint?

024 White car:
1) Jason Williams 9:00AM-11:00AM EST
2) ? 11:00AM-1:00PM EST
3) ? 1:00PM-3:00PM EST
4) ? 3:00PM-5:00PM EST
5) ? 5:00PM-7:00PM EST
6) ? 7:00PM-9:00PM EST

6) ? 7:00PM-9:00PM EST

Unfortunately that's the only stint I can't do (1pm - 3 pm GMT). I can do stints 2-6 but would prefer not doing the 6th, but I'm easy apart from that 1st one. :)

That's ok, I can start the car no problem. So this is how the schedule will look for us then:

3) ? 12:00PM-2:00PM EST
4) ? 2:00PM-4:00PM EST
5) ? 5:00PM-6:00PM EST
6) ? 6:00PM-8:00PM EST

I can do any stint, but I prefer stints 2 and 4 if Jason and Matt are happy with that? I don't mind doing any of the other stints but I'd obviously prefer not to do stint 6 as its 11pm-1am overhere, but I can do it if need be.

Keep in mind that on your team Jason can only do 1 stint, please let me know if we need one more driver to cover the missing stint.

Ok, so here is how it looks now:
Please everyone look at the schedule again as I had made a mistake on the starting time of the race, start time is an hour early. Please confirm you guys are aware of this. @Aderrrm @Ardius @adeadsnipermatt @MadRR

024 White car:

2) Matthew Bretten (Ardius) 10:00AM-12:00PM EST

I can do a 3rd stint no problem. In that case, I'm probably best doing stints 2, 4 and 6.
Its up to you Matt. I still prefer not to do stint 6 as its pretty late here but I can get up later if I need to and fill up on caffeine.

Ah and yes I can confirm that I realise the race start time is 13:00 GMT...which changes to 14:00 BST (+1 for summer time here).
So in UK time, the race will be 14:00pm-02:00am....although in terms of our stints it will probably be more like 14:20-2:20 because there is a 10 minute warm up, gridding (1 minute) and pace lap (~3 minutes).

Am I right in understanding that the best qualifying time of the drivers registered at the time the race starts is how the grid is decided? So if our quickest driver is not doing the first stint, they need to make sure they are registered for the start of the race still to make their time count, otherwise it may as well be whoever starts the car needs to set a reasonable qualifying time.

The race time is 13:00 UK time because we're still on GMT. The clocks go forward to BST on Sunday.

I'd also like to know how qualifying works.

That is correct, if you want that time to count for something the driver needs to me registered at the start of the race, but does not need to start the car.
I am trying to get another GTP driver to take over a 2hr stint on your car.
Basically all we need now is final confirmation from Jason and Matt to finalize the schedule for the white car.

Running 2:02s race pace, 2:03s if I miss an apex or 2.

How kind are the kerbs, do you have to stay away from them at all costs or is it okay to use them often?

Also how nice do you have to be on the engine? Is short shifting necessary?

Good to see you in that practice Adam, you're much faster than me!
I ended up with an average of 2:07 (I was letting a lot of traffic pass who seemed to be on lower fuel though). I think in clear air my averages will be 2:05/2:06.

Also tried another low fuel run and could only do a 2:03.3 this time.

Personally I stay away from the kerbs as they unsettle the car too much, even with a softer setup. I prefer being able to drive the entire stint consistently, rather than having to start avoiding the kerbs when the tyres wear - if I avoid the kerbs from the start I feel I get a better consistencey and make less mistakes.

I don't think short shifting is necessary but I've never done a race longer than 90 minutes so I don't know the long term issues with the engine.

I don't mind doing the 3rd stint if neither Jason or Matt can do it. I would have been doing it anyway in my last team.

Hey guys got a little bit of bad news. Looks like I wont be able to make the race. Like I was saying in a earlier post I'm going to help a friend at the race track that day so I was planning to do just the first stint and roll out but the schedule came out the other day and I'm going to have to leave a little earlier than I originally planned. I feel terrible I have to back out last minute like this but I just saw it yesterday and didn't get a chance to post up here. Hope it doesn't mess things up to bad for everyone. Sorry again guys.

I've never done a team race before and haven't turned many laps at Sebring, but I can do some practice tonight and take a stint or two if you need additional drivers.

I'm sorry for me being Mia. But what times you need me to fill?

Also my name is Matthew Montalvo. Feel free to add me in iracing.

Yes!! My old friend Potato!! Good to see you step up! This is how it all looks:

Good to see you still in it Matt! On your car is pretty much all open, it would be best to have the highest iRating driver start the car as it will put you in thebest split possible, so out of you 3 who has the best iRating? @Ardius @adeadsnipermatt @gman07

024 White car:
1) ? 8:00AM-10:00AM EST
2) Matthew Bretten (Ardius) 10:00AM-12:00PM EST

I am sitting at a hefty 1417 lol I kinda set plans for tomorrow but they were in the air so I am here to fill the gaps. I prefer to finish the race. I don't mind starting but I'm up for whatever.

I'm somewhere around 2300, but have little Sebring experience and no BMW experience or team racing experience. Much practice necessary tonight, and probably a few questions to come...

I'll be on after 11 EST tonight I'll look for you in the practice sessions!

The best option would be to have Gman start the car and qualify it since he has the best iRating of the 3. The schedule would look like this:

024 White car:
1) Tom Cartensen (Gman07) 8:00AM-10:00AM EST
2) Matthew Bretten (Ardius) 10:00AM-12:00PM EST
3) Matthew Montalvo (Adeadsnipermatt) 12:00PM-2:00PM EST
4) Matthew Bretten (Ardius) 2:00PM-4:00PM EST
5) Matthew Montalvo (Adeadsnipermatt) 5:00PM-6:00PM EST
6) Tom Cartensen (Gman07) 6:00PM-8:00PM EST

025 Black car:
1) Javier Torres (Jav) 8:00AM-10:00AM EST
2) Adam Suswillo (Aderrrm) 10:00AM-12:00PM EST
3) Julie R 12:00PM-2:00PM EST
4) Adam Suswillo (Aderrrm) 2:00PM-4:00PM EST
