1.Is there any advantages of these ranks?
2.I have noticed that some people have names and slogans,Were it normally says these, How do we change this

Under "My GTPlanet" on the control panel at the top right side of the screen click on Edit Details on the list to the left of that screen and scroll down slightly, it should be under the Email changes. It's called Custom User Title.

What are the other ranks?? and what are the benefits of those ranks?

Don't know, and none as far as I can tell. Might be something to do with post count and permissions/things you can do, but I don't know. I never paid much attention to it and changed it when I realised it could be changed.

Okay thanks all.

Thanks for saying that, I was looking for a reason to mess around with my profile. :)

There should be a Veteran title when you exceeded 10000 posts, and a GTP Deity when you exceed 25000 posts.

Probably.

Early boarding, free baggage, first-class upgrades...oops, wrong forum.

Nothing gained from junior, gold, platinum, diamond, to be honest. We've given thought to it, but since quality > quantity every time, there's no real point...we don't want to encourage post-whoring and rank-chasing. Although the forum's a better place if both quantity and quality are used together!

Useless facts: In the early days of GTPlanet, if you had between 1 and 9 posts, your status was "Needs To Post More". Now anyone can change their status, whereas you required 500 (2003-2009) or 1000 posts (through 2002).

As no one in this thread is using their original user title, does it really matter?

I was using the original title until I made this thread above.

Edit:Sorry Daan. I read who you replied to.

Well, I think there would some benefit to long-standing members, but we offer Premium for those perks, anyhow. Too many people would abuse the chance at such privilege, if we based things strictly on total post count.

I don't think most folks would abuse it, but, for example, "reputation points" and "chat rooms" showed that it only took a few members to quickly ruin a feature, forcing it to be shelved in a short period of time.

Having a few features left up to members with longevity isn't a terrible idea, but there's not too much to give to members without becoming a site Moderator or Administrator. Again, Premium has its benefits.

You know it just might have if custom user title wasn't open to everyone like it was back then.

I believe if they stopped the customizing titles the veteran titles ect would be nice to have.

I agree, there should be title levels which extend beyond Diamond Member going up with the post count. There was also talk about having 10 year member badges (like the premium ones) which sounded pretty cool.

Given that the vast majority of users change their title anyway well before reaching 1000 posts, I really don't see the point of extending the list of titles. If you want to see somebody's post count, just look under their avatar (or space where the avatar would go, in some cases).

I like the idea of a 10-year member badge though, provided it can somehow be made to show only for active members. If someone signed up in early 2003 but last posted in 2004, for example, the badge shouldn't show.
