Don't know if it's just me, but it just seems slow in some areas. (e.g My GTplanet link, questionable mods thread, replying to threads) Is it just my computer?

Edit - This thread was posted almost instantly.

Not noticing any slowness, but I also just got a database error.

So did I too just get a database error, but like Sage said I'm finding no slowness.
Perhaps it's the lack of ads!

I got a database error yesterday, and it was slow when I got it, but everything has been lightning fast other than that occurrence.

Yes, there is some type of issue with our server at the moment, but I have not had time to diagnose the problem. Hopefully I will be able to get it resolved soon before the problem becomes serious, and it should resolve any speed issues you are having with the site.

My computer is always slow at GTP - and the CPU usage is constantly at 100%. Also when I scroll it lags. Is it because I have 7 tabs open?

GTP has been running fine and then I just got the dreaded "The server at www.gtplanet.net is taking too long to respond" message.

I hope it doesn't turn into anything bad.

It's OK, I just rebooted the server so the site was offline for a few minutes.

Umm, no duh. Firefox is a memory hog anyway, and with a bunch of tabs open, well, it's processing suicide.

It's Internet Explorer 7. And it still lags horribly. IE7 is taking up 250MB of memory when I only have 512MB.

I hate my computer.

Are you using Beta 3 or RC1? When I switched from Beta 3 to RC1 I noticed a big increase in memory usage... :(

Not true, I regularly have 30 or 40 tabs open (don't ask) with no noticeable delays or huge memory usage. On topic I haven't had any problems recently with GTP.

Sometimes GTP is slow, but so far it's fine.

I have RC1. IE7's been a memory hog since the days of Beta 3 for me.

But then, my internet refuses to connect sometimes, so that may be the reason....

Hmmm, my Beta 3 was great, but now that RC1 is out, I find that it uses waaaay too much memory, causing random application crashes :(

common IE sucks, use Firefox

GTPlanet takes about 5 minutes to load some pages on my ADSL, when it should take about 5 seconds and it's not Firefox, i have about 10 tabs, but i know it's not Firefox because it's only in some areas of gtp, and in those areas i look at the connection icon in the taskbar and notice it's not loading, but every other website (and some pages at gtp) are fine so i'm still getting it:indiff:

edit: it took 146.703 seconds to refresh the page

that's 2:26.703

no, i don't, what's that got to do with it?

146 seconds was fast, the homepage took 260 or so seconds to refresh yesterday

I have ADSL and even while I'm running BitComet it takes less than 30 seconds.

And...I'm not dumping IE, I'm devoted to it ;)

lthiele, checking that box to disable the green text links may solve your problem.

That was not a mistake. He said he did not have the box checked, and the box must be checked for the green links to be hidden. I'm telling him to check it now because that may be the source of his problem.

sorry, i meant i didn't have the green links enabled, the box is checked, and the links are disabled

*bump*

This morning the site’s been as slow as an elephant stuck in frozen molasses. It finally just started to speed up.

Yep, as I just said in the premium forum it's been slow for me too. It's sped up a bit now but it's still not as quick as it should be.

I know, I even restarted FireFox, rebooted, defragmented my hard drive, and it's still the same..

Ciao!
